Here's my attempt at Narthrax in a Smaug inspired color-scheme. She's defending her kill which is hidden at the back of the base. The base is a 10cm MDF board with some 3D printed rocks attached to create a cross-section effect on the edge of the base. I coated the 3D printed parts in plaster filler to add texture and used some cork, gravel and sand to finish the base. The horse parts are removable to make a less scary version. They're made from some old citadel horse and skeletal horse models. The horse head has a small metal pin on the side that inserts into a hole in Narthrax's hand. The ponies in the last shot are from Impact Miniatures Chibi Pony set.

need fat dragon mini? for Fat Dragon Games? Or fat griffin? More fat monsters?

Nope, I wear the right one. The left one is used for other things (like chucking at people, swearing by, etc.). The Stomp of Approval comes from the right one, though. I totally feel like I'm swimming through paint right now. CURRENTLY PAINTING AT THE SPEED OF PANIC! THERE'S PAINT AND MAIMED BRUSHES EVERYWHERE! OH THE HUMANITY! Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

They call it a paladin wyvern because the way they assembled it and the angle of this picture, it looks like the stick is going somewhere it shouldn't. This is how I wanted it to look:

Dahling, what have you been doing? Your cuticles are an absolute fright! Don't you worry dear, I'll have you looking fahbulous again in a jiffy. Uh huh. Tell me about it. He said what? Well I never! There we are dear. A little Scorched Metal nail polish, and you're good as new! Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

First time backer of Bones but long time gamer, coming out of a hiatus. Let me just add as someone who gave their soul to GW from the age of 11 to the age of 27, I am so glad to see a variety in the Core set that will allow me to begin a base of decent gameable miniatures in a lightweight durable plastic. Because storage in Japan is difficult, houses are small and space is scarce and any breakages would be painful. Glad to be part of this community, hope to be here for a while :)

It's obvious that the female nagendras are more dangerous because they have larger venom sacs, mammals just happen to mistake them for breasts.

I fully support enthusiastic caps lock engagement! Okay, so, I just had to pop in and share cuz I'm super excited for how these are progressing! Well, okay, I wasn't at first. I thought I'd gotten the alignment right... 'Kay.... Looks good.... Oh dang it I gave her derp eyes. SHE IS NOT MR. FISH I quickly fixed that (but forgot to take pictures). So I had this PLAN for how I was going to do the eyes (basically what is pictured above, with a pupil). However, once I started implementing it, the creative gremlin in my brain suddenly woke up and said "Wait a sec, this looks super boring on these lovely big eyeballs! I can't have that!" And this was the result: It's probably hard to see, but there's a little turquoise ring near the edges to give it definition and interest. I tried a second ring, but then it just looked like Liberty was being mind controlled. And most important, my dragon is actually looking at you now. ...Now I just need to try and get my creative gremlin to repeat this with 4 more pairs of eyes. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I posted anything, but here's what I worked on today. I ended up choosing this one today because I got some new paint and wanted to try out the flesh tones which I'm really happy about it how it turned out.

A coat of Sky Steel on the tail...uh fin later.... And the main body + heads is DONE DONE DONE! Just wings and terrain left. I will not feel pain. Pain is the mind-killer. Pain is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my pain. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the pain has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

This is my new favorite description of me. Hot Dog liiiiiives! I haven't the slightest clue what Past Me was thinking, choosing green for his eye color, but whatever. Short food break, then back to eyes! Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

And the last two are FINALLY done. I unexpectedly discovered that Norbert has his tongue lolling out of his mouth. This is now my favorite part of this sculpt. I love it when sculptors add fun little details like this. And last but certainly not least, Midas: Family photo, cuz all of the heads are DONE DONE DONE! Now...I have a hard decision to make. I still have the spikes, wings and terrain to do (as well as the belly skin I keep forgetting about). I have 10 hours left. I'd originally planned on sleeping from now until MrBoot wakes up in 4 hours; however I know that it will take me awhile to get going in the morning. So...I've decided I'm going to keep painting until I can't paint any more, then take a short nap (1-2 hours), then finish off whatever I have left. This may result in my first 24 hour painting binge. Yes yes, I know it's terribly unhealthy and all that, but I can sleep once I'm done. I really really want to finish Ma'al off right, it's very important to me, and that will require some work yet. I will likely not post many updates or if I do, they will basically just be pictures with little to no commentary, since my focus needs to be on painting and my intelligibility is likely to continue to drop, lol. Well...I guess I'll keep going, then. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

Yep, I'll give you a nice little tutorial after I've put this baby to bed. :) I picked the easiest one first: It's kind of bizarre how lifelike just painting the teeth on made her. I've been so used to the heads not having painted eyes and teeth that it's weirding me out a little, lol. Or maybe that's because of the sleep deprivation. Hot Dog's sporting a lovely new grin: Metallica's my fav so far as far as mouths go. Those choppers look pretty wicked! Prey-vision: Okay, those two are the hardest; just got the two-part ones left, then I'm done with all these blasted teeth. Darn it Jim, I'm a painter not a dentist! Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

By the way, thank you @pcktlnt for all the tasty candies you sent me; they've been super helpful as Ma'al Challenge fuel. Finally done with all of the eyes! *flop* Poor Midas came out a little crosseyed, since I'm currently rather quivery from focusing so intently for so long. This is the best I could manage, and this is even after several fix attempts. Going to take a break to uncross MY eyes now. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

Ah, yes, Lovecraft, that'll do it. I've never met a more circular writer in my life; he spends two pages describing a person's reaction to a thing before he even says what the thing is. I love the mythos, though. Norbert's awake! And...he's really really scary. Like seriously I think I'm terrified of this dragon now. Fun fact: his pupils are an unusual shape due to a brush slip on the right eye. I liked the effect so much, I replicated it on the other eye. Yay for happy accidents! Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

Giving my eyes a little break from staring at...well, eyes. Recoated all of the eyes with Brown Liner, since they'd all gotten some colored paint or glitter on them since the initial lining step. Look at their adorable soulless stares! Next, I'd originally used Sophie Silver (limited edition paint) for the white on my hydra, but it behaved poorly on the much larger surface of Ma'al's eyes. :( So I grabbed Spectral White (another LE paint) which, while it's not metallic like I wanted, is a lovely baaaaarely purple white. I'm...not sure whether these soulless stares are better or worse than the black ones. Right, break's over, back to work! *cracks whip* Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

Credit and thanks to @Ludo for the inspiration: Still need a layer of Blade Steel to make it shiny (it's a surprisingly translucent metallic). Will do similar to the inside. Desperately need food first, though. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

But...I can't go swimming, I'm not done with my dragon yet. I decided to celebrate making it through all of that detail work by making a mess. Namely, liberally slobbering Stone Wash on both of the terrain pieces, since I'd spotted quite a few bits of bare Bonesium tucked away in cracks and pitted areas. With Trevor's help, I was able to get both done in 30 mins total. They were literally dripping wet when I was done. Poor brave Trevor looks like he just wants the hurting to stop. That makes two of us little dude. Hang in there, we're almost done. (seriously, though, I've never seen a brush start twisting on itself like this before. We're exploring new limits of brush durability here!) While the terrain is drying out, I'll turn my attention to the wings. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

I'll type up a more better description of how I did them, later. I'm getting faster now that I've got a system figured out: Fun fact: I had to use Brown Liner instead of Adamantium black for Metallica's pupils because the black was disappearing against the dark blue. Pure black probably would have been better, but the liner was to hand. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

So I painted these oozes many years ago. Yet in my OCD-ness to base everything on bevelled bases I have rebased them and did a few improvements on the paintjob. I like the green ooze better then I like the yellow ooze, but they will do. :) These are the metal ones, not the transulecent bones ones. You can find them in the Reaper Store.

I have to say all the angst and what not over each reveal is a bit unsettling from my perspective. I keep wondering how Bobby is taking all the haters on his dice or Gene on the others. Artists tend to focus on negative comments and forget the positive. I'm cringing knowing that when/if my stuff comes up some people will love them and others not. I think I will stay away from reading anything but here at that point.

Ohhhh I hope we do get that. I will call her Crabby Patty.

You guys know that it's illegal to post stuff without me, right? It takes me ages to get through all the cat dragons. Anyway, if the dire crab was in the core set, then what about the guy next to him? Crab demon... THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED!!! I don't want ReaperBryan to exile, dismember or maim me in any way because I got everyones hopes up.

Thank you! You totally should! I'd love to see somebody start a "paint the giant thing with an airbrush in a ridiculously short amount of time" (3 days? I dunno, I've never used an airbrush) challenge. I lied, I fixed Norbert then took a short break to eat some food and dance around my apartment to get the circulation going properly in my legs. I feel loads better now. Norbert does too: He looks much more respectable now, instead of with that cherry red "horn polish". Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

Yes, the Kickstarter signature tags are great! But what we really need is the "I kept up with every page of the Forum Kickstarter Enthusiasm Thread" tags for all the diehards who are making the 172+ page and counting effort.

I don't get the point of dropping your pledge at this point if you don't like a few things... you lose your spot... im only in for $1, I have a ton of minis and am not a huge fan of plastic so I am very picky at this point. That isn't reapers issue or problem. If I like stuff I like it, if I don't then I don't. Am I going to flip a table and go where the heck are my full figured bikini armor giants? No. I am not the center of the universe.

This just made one of my favourite movie watching moments pop into my head. The wife and I were watching LOTR dubbed into russian. By this time I was fairly competent and understanding it. Gandalf gets snagged by the balrog's whip and says "begeetye galoopsy" (bad transliteration from russian Бегите галупсы). We look at each other and ask what did he say? Rewind and listen again. Why is he telling the cabbage rolls to run away. Finally my wife the native russian speaker realises he's saying glooptsy (глупцы) which is a less used word for fools. To this day whenever I see something scary I want to say "run away you cabbage rolls".

My group is like that. They tried painting something ONCE and it didn't come out looking like a Golden Demon winner, so they gave up. They want to do something "fun". Sigh. I teach kids to paint at local cons. Some of them are intimidated, think they won't be good at it. I had one kid tell me he had done painting in art class "But I did it wrong". I told him there is no "wrong" in art. Nobody expects you to be Michaelangelo from the start, you get good by practicing. Anyway, my sympathies. Rant over.

Alright. So .. I had some false starts today, and the thumbnail - which still hurts, but doesn't look as nasty - but I got my colours blocked out, more or less. I know what I'm doing, where I'm putting it .. mostly, and have gotten a lot of it nailed down. I also found a thing to use for a backdrop. Which .. is a piece of grey upholstery fabric, but whatever, it works. The colour isn't /quite/ true; that orange-y bit is closer to peach in real life, and will be the undercoat for the opal head; I mixed Old West Rose, Burning Orange and Maggot white to get that, and I'm rather pleased with it. I'm going to lace the red through the underbelly and skin parts, it should be a Thing. The blue is also rather darker in real life; Nightmare Black and Rich Indigo make a nice base for lapis scales. Mahogany Brown is a good starter for Mahogany obsidian, unsurprisingly ... the green is Peacock and Clear Green. I've used - so far - nothing that isn't Reaper here... I should note, the only things actually glued in permanent like are the hind leg, tail and necks; everything else is dry-fitted; dragon to base, heads to necks. That kind of thing.

@ub3r_n3rdActually, as I was setting up Ma'al for his glamor shots, I DID discover I'd missed a spot. The brown liner had gotten rubbed off, and I missed it in my frantic last painting session. I submit evidence of the missed spot, as well as having corrected it before my deadline (1:00 PM PDT). Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

Yup, those are next up. My break turned out to be productive! I watched some videos with MrBoot while he ate dinner, and I realized that the wings were big enough and simple enough that I could slop paint on them while I sat on the couch with him. So I got the backs covered with Bleached Linen, which is the undercoat for the Blade Steel I'll be slathering over all of the wing membranes: If this isn't a testament to the amazing covering power of Bones paints, I don't know what is. Granted, that's unthinned and I was slapping it on fairly heavily, but still, that's just one coat, over Brown Liner! Mouths and toothies are next, while I still have a modicum of fine brush control lol. Followed by all of the spiky bits. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

hmm i think i will carve the boobs off my snake enchantress lady when i have her. The way they're scaled looks weird to me xD and she is very obviously female with the thin waist, large hips, and slender head compared to the bulkier males. i'm also tempted to sever the head of the skeletal manticore and the skeletal dire bear, and put the beaked head on the manticore to make a undead griffin (with green stuff to make the wings look like tattered feathers), and put the spare skulls on hte owlbear body to make it a normal bear

It's some unexpected duties I have to tend to. It happens. Blew my deadline, though, so this one goes into the record as a fail. Roolz is roolz. But I want that badge, so eventually I'll get a new one for a second attempt.

I know my job around here is to take all the blame, but you mixed this story up a little. I was actually the person fooled by other people joking around and thought we were getting a dragon that we actually were not. Given some time I could find the specific thread, which was an excellent example of joke speculation gone wrong. The only correction I had to make was to chase down people I personally know in order to set it straight. I have not, to my knowledge, otherwise said we were getting a thing that was not a thing.
  47. 12 points
Or, more colloquially. "I like big butts, and I cannot lie..."
  48. 12 points
"Big bottoms please me"? "Nor is it possible to lie of this"? ( I had to look up a few of those words.)

Of course you aren't. My cat is the center of the universe, just ask her. But yes, you're taking a rational and mature approach to this... But we're talking about the internet here.

Almost everything sounds more refined in Latin. I am pleased with myself for understanding all of that. Looks like my Latin class is paying off.
