  1. OK, my memory was off. The first one of these I purchased was a miscast so I had taken a picture in case Reaper wanted to see it. I found the picture and this is in fact just TWO pieces. The rider is attached to the beast.
  2. As I recall it was three pieces, the beast, the rider, and the arms holding the weapon. Disclaimer - it's been several years since I painted it so my memory may be off.
  3. I have no memory of what I've done for this. I'll have to contact the creator and see if they have everything they need from me or not.
  4. Wife works for Amazon Logistics (the ones who load up the delivery drivers), and they've had a rash of boxes not being scanned quick enough, so Amazon sends out another order then the customer gets two boxes. Maybe they put the second one up on eBay without opening it? Interesting to know, but this is a (presumably) small business that uses eBay & Amazon marketplace as storefronts. The receipt has their name in the sold by section and the date would be the next business day after I placed my order. If anything it's more like they used Amazon to fulfill their eBay order.
  5. I have acquired airbrush thinner... and confusion. I purchased it "buy it now" off of eBay, but it came in an Amazon package with an Amazon receipt and "enjoy your gift" slip. The tracking number matches ebay's and the Amazon order ID gets me nowhere. I wonder if the seller got two orders on the same day and someone who ordered off of the marketplace has my eBay receipt? At least I got what I ordered.

Candyvore. I lean towards chocolate, but hard candy is good too.

I have several lines of paint that I use regularly; Vallejo, Reaper, Scale 75, and Golden, as well as Liquitex inks. Each has their uses and don't completely overlap. If I had to buy from just one manufacturer though it would probably be Vallejo, basically because they have everything. Scale 75 has added pigments and historical colors to their lineup, but it isn't as extensive. Reaper doesn't even offer some of this stuff, so even though I like their paints they lose by lacking auxiliary products.
  8. Trolling or not, it does raise the valid issue of whether or not celebrity sponsors are worth it. Given the number of athletes and Hollywood types that pitch products I'd say most companies believe so. Vallejo obviously falls into this category. Just look at Angel's Vallejo/Infinity Masterclass books. In the first one he does step-by-steps on Infinity minis naming each Vallejo paint as he goes. In the second one (which I do not have) he apparently took it a step further and did the official color scheme for each faction using Vallejo paints. Did this get Infinity players to buy Vallejo paints so they could follow the recipes? Dunno... but doubt it hurt sales. When I tried Golden Fluid Acrylic directly on Bones (specifically Titanium White & Raw Sienna) I found that it stayed tacky for quite awhile before it cured. "Priming" Bones with a coat of normal hobby paint seems to alleviate the issue, and of course it's not even a problem with metal. I also use Liquitex inks and they are nice. I haven't reached for my "hobby" brand inks in quite some time.

Raise your hand if it's snowing

It is now windy so existing snow is once again airborne. Does that count?

No and not in the near future.
  12. David Powell uses a decent amount of Reaper paints.
  13. While I wait on my Badger 55 sale brushes to show up I've started acquiring other items I may need. Stynylrez primer white, 4oz Stynylrez primer black, 4oz Maybe, but the one's I've tried in America have been easy to resist.

I grew up with both and currently have neither, so not much of a preference.

Raise your hand if it's snowing

There was a foot of snow on the ground when I got up this morning, but after raining all day there is less. Now it's still raining and 32F, about to be 31F, and after icing for a few hours it's supposed to finish off with an inch or two of snow by morning. Unsure if I will need skis or skates to get to work.
  16. My partner this time around was Aard who, in the usual forum fashion, had very broad wishes that in the end was narrowed down to rangers w/cloaks. So I ordered an assortment of rangers and started painting one. Then I opened one of the potential gifts and painted it too, so one less gift one more painted mini. The first ranger is very green, so we'll call her the spring ranger, while the other is dressed in the latest fall fashion - the autumn ranger. Also, bonus panther animal companion.

Masters, chemistry. We were playing D&D and I was starting to get tired of using tokens to represent everything. I figured I'd start with PCs and picked up the Reaper Dungeon Adventurers pistol case. Shortly thereafter Bones 1 delivered and I picked up a Vampire box at KS pricing. I haven't finished painting either, and I've only purchased 20 minis since. Just finished a cup.

Secret Sophie Exchange Minis for Aard

I'm rather fond of how the autumn colors worked myself. I'm sure I'll be using that scheme again at some point.

    RP Challenge 77154: Lizardman Spearman

It's the nice thing about these artist paints. They are really vibrant out of the bottle, but if you need to they are easy to desaturate. Of course you can do the same thing with hobby paints, but not knowing what pigments the manufacturer used can sometimes lead to odd colors when you glaze over.
  20. One of my goals this year is to work through my pile of unpainted Bones from all the kickstarters. First up, a mini that was used as a test piece and then put back to gather dust for a few years. It was painted fairly quickly using glaze technique, which helped keep me from fussing over the details. One mini off the shelf of shame (or rather, out of the plastic box of shame).

    RP Challenge 77248 & 77249 Barrels & Crates

Thanks. These were easy enough that I went looking for more crates to paint, but it doesn't look like I have any.
  22. Some low hanging fruit. Two were "primed" with brown liner and painted dark to light, two were not and painted using glaze technique. An easy way to get a different look with the same paints.

Advice for Choosing a Detail Airbrush

I was on youtube and saw a bit where Ken stated Badger produces to fulfill orders rather than to maintain inventory. Production time for an airbrush was 3-5 weeks.
