Talos: City of Intrigue and Adventure!

Nivin spits into the bushes. "Bloody meddlin' town folk. Y' right, though, Throm, we should prob'ly head back t' camp."

[DnD 5E] Talos: City of Intrigue and Adventure!

I'm all for making this our standard watch order... though we're missing some at the moment.

Talos: City of Intrigue and Adventure!

As the other two call the first and last watches, Nivin grabs a piece from the gaming set, bundles it into one fist, then holds both fists behind his back. "Grin, pick a fist, loser gets woke a' midnight."

Lets see some custom CAV's for fun!

Just some simple tweaks to represent some custom mods. First off, the Halberd ME ("Missile Edition"). This will be leading my Templars 99th Auxiliary First Attack Squad. And... hmm, I suddenly find myself with an Assassin without the upper missile pods. How could that have happened? Oh well, I guess moar lazors is the answer!

"I'm wit' Grin 'ere. Not ne'ssarily abou' t' wenchin', but our role in 'is seems done. I don't much fancy hikin' back in t' dark, so we might as well camp 'ere, but let's scoot back t' town inna mornin'."

Nivin "salvages" the whetstones and socks. "Y' never know when y' migh' need 'nother pair o' socks," he mutters, mostly to himself, "Any y' lot wan' some?" As he stuffs them into his pocketses, he examines the ground, looking for bandit tracks and what might be gleaned from them.

    Updated CAV:SO Construction Program Information

I see the Vindicator Terran CAV revealed earlier has been renamed the Centaur, so as not to clash with the Malvernis Dropship of the same name. :D

An observation I made while gaming all weekend.

Hmm, you could call it "BattleCAV". And it might, perhaps, look something like this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2mhbBAEFdI-VnFTM0xvLXNQN1U/view?usp=sharing Above is a link to a zip file with CAV CP interpretations of 16 BattleMechs from TRO 3039. It ain't perfect, especially with no SRM or jump jet equivalents in CAV, and CAVs generally sporting more advanced electronics than BattleMechs, but it is what it is. Included: LIGHT Commando (Attack) UrbanMech (Fire Support) Spider (Recon) Panther (Attack) MEDIUM Assassin (Recon) Blackjack (Fire Support) Centurion (Attack) Dervish (Fire Support) HEAVY Dragon (Attack) Catapult (Fire Support) JagerMech (Fire Support) Orion (Attack) ASSAULT Charger (Recon) Awesome (Fire Support) Cyclops (Attack) Atlas (Attack)

An observation I made while gaming all weekend.

While I'm a big fan of the BattleTech setting, I have to confess that the tabletop rules can be painstaking. There's a Java port of the rules called MegaMek that speeds it up a lot by handling all those tricky circumstances... but then you're playing with 2D images, not miniatures.

    Generic Vehicle Stats

Not everyone can afford a Dictator, or even a Centipede. On particularly broke worlds, it's all you can do to scavenge up a few of the tougher civilian vehicles, mount a gun on them, maybe a few panels of plasteel you "borrowed" from the building site, and hope for the best. I threw together the following vehicles to represent such ragtag units. Be warned: fragile!

That'd be "Razor" the CAV, though, not "Razer" the computer gaming hardware manufacturer. :P PLEASE! Wow that would be cool. I know sparks is AMAZING with that stuff. I'll look into it, though I've got some other CAV-related projects on my plate just now.

    Finding Players (Meetup Thread)

I'm just about to relocate to Adelaide, South Australia. If anyone's in the area and wants some games of CAV (or Malifaux, or BattleTech, or Infinity, or Flames of War, or...), get in touch!

Lets see some custom CAV's for fun!

Be aware that Malvernis use the undead naming scheme for a lot of their stuff, too. In particular, the Revenant is already in game as a super-heavy attack CAV with twin HMACs and twin H-R15s. Between the Malvernis (undead and criminals), the Adon (good rulers, mythical creatures and occasionally insects), the Templars (weapons and those who use them), the Terrans (mostly birds, some predators), the Rach (bad rulers, some predators), and the Ritterlich (any predators not yet claimed by the Terrans, Rach or Adon), it'll be interesting to see where naming for the Almirithil goes. So far, I'm getting a lot of bears.

Okie doke, here's three more: You can grab the files (compatible with CAVFM v0.9.30/CAV CP v1.6.14) for these and the ones in the original post from the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2mhbBAEFdI-OHNRX0ltelpmb1E/view?usp=sharing Enjoy!

Talos: City of Intrigue and Adventure!

Nivin squints back at Horrik quizzically, or he would do if he knew what the word meant. "Wha' bluddy party?" he mutters to himself, not loud enough to be heard by the prisoner. Never mind, leave that to Horrik, he's the one who insisted on bring the prisoner along. Turning back to Jeren, he says, "Looks mighty homely. Ya've done well."

    Custom Land Raider Doors

Not quite sure where to put this, but I wanna show them off, and sculpting seems most appropriate. Here's a set of Land Raider doors I've sculpted (virtually, at least) and sent to Shapeways to have 3D printed in ultra fine detail plastic. Some day, I'll even finish painting the Land Raider itself. It's only taken me eleven years to get this far. As they arrived: With base coat and in place on the original model as proof of fitting: With final paint:

Nivin grumbles and kicks a rock into some nearby bushes. "A'right. 'Spose."

[DnD 5E] Talos: City of Intrigue and Adventure!

As a player, I actually think seeing Jeren all the way to camp and then coming back is the wise option. But one of Nivin's personality traits is about not handholding when people could learn a valuable lesson, so... he's voting to find any remaining bandits.

    Big Darn Heroes

Well, you might mean us no harm, but you're about the only one in the neighbourhood who doesn't, Slingshot thought to herself. Tempting as it is to jump down to back up Ghost against... whatever that is, there are still other threats that might be closing in at any moment. "Ghost!" she calls down, "I'll keep a lookout up here, hollar if you need something."
  22. SparksMurphey

    Big Darn Heroes

From the rooftops, Slingshot watches the crowds with an edgy eye. If it comes to it, she could escape any mundane threat by flying away, but that would mean leaving Ghost behind. Could she carry another person with her? She's never tried, and hopes she won't have to find out any time soon.

Talos: City of Intrigue and Adventure!

Nivin huffs. "I agree wit' Thromdor. We've broke t' back, now we need t' finish t' job an' cut out t' heart. Jeren's a big boy, 'e don't need moth'rin' now t' ambush is dealt wit'."

    Rise of the Runelords.

The flame has burned, it won't burn twice Unless you're someone who's not nice. Just one remains, he's badly hurt. Let's feed him now his just desserts! Oroureh takes another shot at the goblin, but between it's movements and those of Basil and Havlann, the arrow only finds turf.

Talos: City of Intrigue and Adventure!

Nivin plants his foot on the bandit leader's chest to extract his javelin, before plunging it in a few times more for good measure. "Stinkin' good-fer-nuttin bandits," he growls, "Thievin' from honest folk, 'stead of earnin their own." He looks back to Thromdor, stashing the javelin in its holster. "I'm keen t' track 'em t' t' camp, givvem a talkin' t'."
