  1. Randomness XIII: Cognitive Dissonance While You Wait

Hanging out at my mom's with Sibling who's on spring break. I'm working on my Mini Ma'al. I'm mildly frustrated with it but don't have a whole lot of working time left for the green stuff before it's too hard to work with. Time for a quick break and then will revisit with, hopefully, a clearer picture of what I'm doing.

I got the left wing on after much difficulty and cursing. It didn't want to super glue to the spot so I just went the route of GS to hold it on. This has left me with an awkward area. I'm trying to flesh out the musculature a bit but I'm not sure if it's working well or if you can see it at all. I'm trying to let the GS cure long enough to keep the wing from slipping out of place but not so hard that I can't sculpt. I'm worried if I put another layer of it on it'd be too bulky.

One side is done with somewhat decent scales.
  4. using airbrush primers as brush-on?

They may have changed the packaging so it might be a similar if not the same thing. This isn't the Game Color line. It's thin but works well and I haven't had any issues with chipping or it being rubbed off if the model is cleaned beforehand.

Wings are off! Did a really bad job with scale sculpting so pulled everything off to start over. Currently waiting for the glue to dry before I try the GS again.

Wings are on! Now to get scales on it. They are even at roughly the same angle.

I definitely wouldn't call myself handy at all. This is my first mod ever so I'm hoping it'll come out well without too much trial and error.
  8. Sparrow paints Isabeau Laroche as Captain Marvel

Had top stop drawing on the shield. I was getting small cuts into it. I think I feel comfortable painting it on now though. I sketched it out on paper. So maybe after a few more attempts at this I'll be totally ready to get in with it. I anticipate that the shield will be the most time consuming. So I'm tackling that first. Still trying to decide on a good skin color and highlight and shadow colors for it once I decide.

Got the wing in with a little difficulty. Didn't take the time to pin it because I was impatient to start up on it. This means that before the green stuff cured it kept sagging until I propped it up with a bottle of super glue. But it is now cured and in place. I got a few scales in before I gave up for the night, the GS was too soft too properly sculpt. It could have just needed to cure more before I tried or I need sharper sculpting tools. Gonna try to carefully carve them out with an xacto today, maybe. Will definitely try to get the second wing on though. The way it's sculpted it is at a different angle than the first one. So getting them somewhat even might be difficult. I took pictures beforehand of the angles that I think they should be at, roughly. Here's the wing attached and maybe you can see some of the scales near the bottom of the GS.

When I saw this I immediately thought about Robinson Cano (baseball player) and wondered when he wrote a cook book and where I could find it. ETA: Going to my mom's today through Saturday. I think she's having a severe case of empty nesting so gonna go keep her company for a bit. I don't get over there enough and feel bad about it most of the time. I need to figure out how to schedule things so I can go over a couple times a month or something. Last time I was over was...January? Doesn't help that Sibling now lives on campus in Seattle so they don't get down often. We are however going to pick them up tomorrow for spring break. It'll be nice to see everyone.
  11. Getting to Know You, Mar 2018

I had this exact moment very shortly after answering this. I was thinking 20 years ago was still the 80's. Then I realized Sibling is going to be 23 in a week and suddenly felt old.
  12. Getting to Know You, Mar 2018

I don't think I own any that old seeing as 95% of what I own is Bones. I might have picked something out in the last BOGW but I highly doubt it.

Broke out the GS and am starting to try to get the right shapes down. Probably should have pinned the wing but I didn't have anything handy to pin it with.

Overslept today, luckily didn't miss Dr's appointment. I'm home now and should probably make dinner soon, frozen pizzas tonight, haven't eaten today IIRC. Windows is updating and has been at 0% for about an hour now, but please "do not turn off your computer." Might need a drink before the day is over.
  15. Marching On: March 2018 Goals

I've added some things but they're really just add-ons to the last bit. I'm making a Mini Ma'al and painting Isabeau Laroche up as Captain Marvel. Though I need more paint for both for which I will need to find storage...
