  1. Greetings all! Presenting Cadirith, Demonic Colossal Spider. I was going for a creepy a look for her so I tried to keep the colours dark but with flashes of red "warning" colour. The base is my own creation. The WIP for this project can be found here. For the first pic, I have included Sir Forscale for...um, scale - I'm sure he'll be fine........! Various angles: Without the base: Base only: Comments are always welcome, Thanks for looking!

03748 Lich - Dark Heaven Legends

Greetings! I've been working on this scary Reaper DHL Lich for a week or so. There is a rich blue glowy effect on his eyes but it doesn't seem to have come out that clearly on these pics. Anyway, thanks for looking!

03748 Lich - Dark Heaven Legends

Thank you, he was a lovely mini to paint. Really enjoyed it. Thanks, that's very kind of you! Thank you, I tried to keep his robes looking ancient & faded but still vibrant. Thank you! Thank you, he's asked me to wish you a belated "Merry Hexmas!".....(Ahem). Thanks! I imagined that the business end of his staff was forcebly removed obtained from one of "Cadirith's" spidery spawnlings. Thanks! With a lot of my minis (this one included) I tend to start with a black basecoat & work my way up with the colours & don't go too light with the final highlight. Many thanks!

Wow! Fantastic painting. You've put a lot of effort & detail into him & it really shows!
  10. Greetings! Next up will be T'Raukzul. This will be the biggest mini I've ever attempted to paint.............. So far I have cleaned up, assembled & filled in the larger gaps. I did this about a month ago & I'm happy to say that the wings haven't drooped at all in that time so it seems pretty stable. I've seen a few painted examples of T'Raukzul online & they are mostly red dragons but I didn't want to go down this route so, Inspired by the design of the tail (which looks a little bit nautical to me), I have decided to go with an aquatic colour scheme - maybe even tropical. I don't know if this is heresy but it's where I'm going. Thanks for looking!
  11. Greetings! I thought I'd start a WIP as an ongoing personal incentive to get the larger monsters in my Bones 3 collection painted up & finished - it's mostly all Dragons but I also have some of the other larger monsters that I may throw into the mix here & there. I'm kicking off with Diabolus & Stormwing & I'm using their names as the general inspiration for the colour schemes I'll be using. First off I glued the minis up & filled in any major gaps with green stuff: When dry, I painted the green stuff areas with primer followed by a coat of light grey to try & match the surrounding bonesium colour.
  12. "One of my favourite range of figures ever was Citadel's 1980's licensed "Lord Of The Rings" minis. I have finally decided to get all the miniatures I own painted up (over time) & try to acquire the ones which are missing from my collection (& paint them up too!)". Here is my next completed mini - Strider. It's actually part of a blister of 3 minis (ME1 - Fellowship Heroes) which also includes Gandalf & Frodo. I love the sculpting on this figure - grim yet regal. To make him look like he is roaming the wilds, I added some dirt onto the bottom of his cloak & boots by drybrushing a light brown followed by a dark brown nearest the bottom. Thanks for looking!

He was quite nice to paint overall - not too complicated either. Thanks for looking!

This was also an opportunity for me to use my newly acquired "Flockbox" to create a more lush realistic upstanding static grass effect on the base, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. Thanks for looking!

    ME1 - Frodo, Citadel 1980's Vintage LOTR

Many thanks! Thank you! The flockbox is a little powered box which makes it possible to create more realistic grass effects using flock. The box generates a static charge which makes the individual strands of flock magically fly through the air from the box & land upright on a glued surface (such as a mini's base, terrain or on some parchment paper (if you are creating grass tufts)) giving a much more realistic look. If you do a Youtube search for "flockbox" you find a few videos which show what it can do. Hope this helps!

Thanks! There's some really nice figures in this range. Thanks! I like him a lot too. Thank you! He's just been tracking Gollum. Many thanks!

    ME1 - Gandalf, Citadel 1980's Vintage LOTR

Many thanks! Thanks! I love minis from this era. Thanks! I couldn't leave that little detail out. Thanks! They do indeed. I like the way Gandalf's pipe is tucked into his hat band. Thank you very much!

    Citadel Shadow Grey replacement?

Try Coat D'arms No. 150 - Shadow Grey. I have all the CDA & new Citadel paints & I'd say this is the closest match. CDA's is lighter & a little less blue.

Thanks all! I was inspired by the dragons name & wanted use colours that you might see in skys or seas before or during a storm. Thanks! Feel free to pilfer. Thank you! I'm pretty pleased with the eyes.
