    -Spoilers- Sun class finished

If you are playing gloomhaven or plan to and do not want to be spoiled to the unlocked classes stop reading here. This is the class with the sun icon Last warning to avoid spoilers. Just finished up the Sunkeeper for Gloomhaven, I think I'm gradually overcoming my fear of highlighting. As always, C&C greatly appreciated for things to do better next time or general tips. Work Process (as far as I can remember) Primed in white, followed up with gunmetal grey over most of the figure, except for obvious cloth, highlighted some of the armor with chrome, detailed the clothes, then added royal gold for the gold, washed straight black for the crevices in the armor, followed up with aztec gold, gradually mixed with lemon yellow, then a hansa yellow transparent for the final highlight. Cloak and cloth were in there somewhere with crimson to scarlet to pink, washed dark red and blended. Hair was pretty much just white washed black highlighted white. Face went through a ton of phases but mostly caucasian fleshtone mixed with pink and a touch of burnt sienna, dropped the sienna when highlighting. Cobbles on the base were greenstuff'd then used matt gel with some burnt umber for dirt, scattered pebbles and grass, after set followed up with some matte varnish and a touch of gloss on the cobbles. -Spoilers- Sun class

This is the unlocked class with the Sun icon. If you do not want spoilers stop reading now. --------------------------------------------- I was wanting some c&c, if I could get it, on several areas. The mouth and the base are the main ones, so if anyone has any critique for those that would be helpful. I'm also thinking of highlighting the gold armor a bit more, any thoughts?

    -Spoilers- Sun class

Thanks for the help @LarsM I highlighted the cobbles a bit but decided to leave the loose stones how they were, but with a matt varnish. Harsh Lighting Soft Lighting Base

    -Spoilers- Sun class

I highlighted the armor more, gonna post pics soon, the thing about the ground is a good idea, the original idea was the base is some sort of ruins, so it would be hard stone. I brushed off some of the loose stone though so it's less saturated.
  6. Please help guys, I should be done with this guy by now but I just need the purple to POP, I think. Maybe something else needs doing?

HOW TO POP SHOGGOTH -- Popped, thanks :D

SHOGGOTH POPPIN NOW. Thanks for the help guys, geoff your technique sounds amazing but this is supposed to be a quick tabletop job, so I went with the faster route.

    Great Cthulhu

Finished Cthulhu on Saturday, I think I'm learning to overcome my fear of highlighting too far, I still didn't go as light as people said I should. Some say you can go practically to white, but I am very hesitant to try that. I think I've made progress though. C&C welcome! Soft Lighting--- Harsh Lighting, to show detail---- And WIP thread if anyone is interested...

    Great Cthulhu

Thanks! Yeah I was looking for more contrast, the colors were too similar so I tried that.

    Great Cthulhu

Got my start on Cthulhu last week. Did a prime in black, then zenithal pre-shade white from above. Purple from below, then green from above. Liking the effect so far, think I'm done with the airbrush, gonna move on to regular painting.

    Great Cthulhu

Did some flourish on the wings, some speckling on the bones and red lines down them. Think the red lines are a bit too harsh still, probably going to blend them in more.

    Great Cthulhu

Finished the seaweed, I'm at least comfortable calling it "seaweed" now. Moved on to the highlighting of the figure itself. Drybrushed some pale green onto highlight spots, debating doing some yellow edge highlights, or just drybrushing through green yellow to white mixes. Bunch of pics, sorry.

    Progress?

    Great Cthulhu

Hey guys, could use some help on the waves, let me know what you think and how I could improve. Any C&C welcome.

    Great Cthulhu

Base coating done at this point. Started on the shading of the rock and water but haven't taken pics of that yet.

    Help with airbrushing?

Hey guys. I'm back after having my wisdom teeth removed :/ nasty surgery had to have some recovery. But I started painting again and I was wondering; am I getting speckling here? It used to be really bad but I diluted down a touch and I think it's better. Could use some help.

    Help with airbrushing?

Did a couple more layers with the airbrush to set down some gradients. Still some speckling showing through from the pre shade but it's manageable.

    Help with airbrushing?

My brush is a Paasche TG-3F Double action, wow I've never tried that low. Lowest I've gone is like 10-12. Air source is the compressor that came with it. I don't have a moisture trap, is it necessary? It's not very humid where I live. EDIT: Just realized you meant on the compressor. Yes, it came with it. It was a package deal designed for airbrushes.

    Help with airbrushing?

I was pretty close and I didn't want it too focused, like when you're super close. Would turning up the pressure help?

    Found a new game!

Found a new tabletop game called gaslands. Has some amazing model builders already, tearing apart hotwheels and similar and mashing them together in amazing ways. Got some today and was working on some concepts for post apocalytpic cars, mock ups with blu-tac and toothpicks followed. No painting or actual modelling done yet, just ideas. Anyway check it out if you like the mad-max/deathrace setting. https://gaslands.com/

    More work on Nyar's eyes.

    Nyarlathoptep

Some in progress works of nyar as I work on him. Started with black primer, airbrushed white pre shading, drybrushed transparent dioxane purple, accenting the shadows, then coated in transparent pthalo blue.

Flying Polyps - Wynken and Blynken

Nod is coming along now. Going to do all the eyes on this one and leave the others. This is a tabletop commission after all, just doing the eyes as a demo.
  25. Alright go these guys to a serviceable spot for a test game tomorrow. Forgot that there was a third one, I know I had it when priming and pre-shading, probably the hounds of tindalos again. DAMN THOSE CORNERS. Btw does anyone have any suggestions, beyond "just don't touch them," for playing games with half painted minis? I don't want to varnish them and was hoping there was a better way. @Talae I know you play while wip, do you do anything special?
