    Unpainted Minis from Wizkids

Oooh cool- a shame there are a few in there that are already released elsewhere though, the 2 pirates and executioner at least, maybe others too- I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this though, some nice terrain bits too.

    Unpainted Minis from Wizkids

Is this a Wizkids unpainted big Townspeople pack? Don't think I've seen anything about that would be interested to see if you have a link? I don't set up a map for every tavern or shop my players go into, but if your players are prone to shenanigans it never hurts to have that stuff prepped! If for example, gnolls invade the town for a raid it's handy to have a lot of townpeople, or if your players are planning a heist on a local jewellery store etc- otherwise if they're talking to a townperson sometimes I put a mini on top of my DM screen to indicate that's who they're talking to, otherwise I might just show them a picture of the person either on my tablet or I have a bunch of the pathfinder "face cards"

Not yet! It’s on my to do list to watch a few unboxings of it maybe- I would consider it for a sea faring campaign but that’s not what my next one is shaping up to be- I’ll probably give it a miss, but it’s nice to dream!

I've been thinking about this for a few days but have been unable to think of the proper word for it- whats the word for like a litter/palanquin type seat (covered) that goes on an animal's (like an elephant) back? I feel like I've only seen it in cartoons and it's vastly impractical, but I'd still like to see one that's on the pack terrapin.

... These are just patches right? As in, "leave them around a band member too long and it'll be on their denim jacket next week" patches?

Department of Acquisitions and Enablement, the Second

The bring and buy sale at the local board game cafe was this morning, I’m friends with the organiser so I got to scan the list in advance and I knew there wasn’t anything I was desperate to pick up, but we went for a browse anyway and ended up picking up a couple of bits- a collection of warhammer models which turned out to be a bit of a bargain for what it was- but I don’t play that so don’t really know all the details (my knowledge of warhammer is solely advising OH on how to paint what he wants and helping to build the figures) I got a copy of Playing At The World, which I’m excited to read, but realistic of that ambitions time scale.

We used to have a great fabric store right near my work, when I was more inclined to make things I was always picking up “scraps” and sewing up simple dresses for my friends and their kids from there! Unfortunately it closed down and became a Taco Bell, even more unfortunately I still visit there just as much... There is another fabric store in town but it’s more expensive, further away and full of very condescending staff... I rarely visit. I do keep meaning to go though as I would like to rifle through the scraps for something cool to make a new dicebag from!

    Black 3.0

Yeah I think it's good value for a cool product- but my need for it for 10-20 miniatures would probably be 3-5ml max, so it's not for me! If I was a more artistic person who had more uses for it sure- unfortunately that's not the case! If further down the line they end up doing mini size bottles for around mini size prices I'd probably pick one up

    Black 3.0

I like the idea of maybe using this on faces for minis that are like hooded humanoids with no heads / faces to go in the void- unfortunately that idea isnt worth £25 to me, but I'm sure it has way cooler and more practical uses to other people

OH and I just cooked the WORST dinner we've had in a long time. We decided to try these new vegan "shrimps" that appeared in the meat-free section of our supermarket of choice. They. Were. Disgusting. First of all once we took them out the box they were in they looked horrifically real- probably not a downside for a lot of people but idk, I found it super offputting. We cooked them as per package directions and they were SUPER rubbery- and I cant say for sure because we made them in a stirfry but they seemed to taste nothing like prawns, or anything really for that matter except the sauce they were cooked in. 0/10 would not recommend. The situation was not helped by the fact the chilli OH put in was WAY too hot for both of us, I told him if he had to put it in to de-seed it and use less than half, but he thought it would be fine, then he ended up complaining more than I did about how spicy it was! I used to have a higher spice threshold but nowadays I'm a mega wuss. Have send OH out to find replacement dinner. In other news tomorrow my local board game club is having a bring and buy sale. We'll be going to have a browse and then play a few games. It's also a good chance for me to scout for players as I'd still like another 1-2 players for my next campaign...

Getting to Know You, Feb 2019

It's going to be a quiet month for me, I'm saving money for a mini-holiday in March so any "fun money" is going towards that. So I guess I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time at home hopefully painting through the shelf of shame a bit!
  13. I'm potentially interested in taking part in one of these- but I know these forums are mainly full of US people- has there ever been a UK one or is there not enough demand for that?

Bones You'd Like to See, thread #4

Stirge / Multipack of Stirges! Or, if that is IP, then might I suggest: Blood Bats! Size category: Tiny Having real trouble finding some of these, and they're a pretty common low level d&d enemy. If these came in packs of 4-6 in sculpts that are easy to mount on a flight stand on were integrated into a stalactite that'd be pretty cool

    Unpainted Minis from Wizkids

Over yesterday and today I got several "back in stock" e-mails from UK suppliers with lots of the more sought after minis like the Owlbears and Mimics, and I've also seen places have finally been getting stock of the large red, white and green pathfinder dragons.I'm holding off picking any up at the moment with Bones 4 incoming though, I'm going to have enough to get through (not that I dont already) without adding those to the mix!

I love that pack turtle- the more I look at it the more I suspect that will be the first thing I paint from Bones 4!

    Good Eats!

I’ve been told before- but I regularly forget that the USA has INSANE prices for fresh fruit and veg, a cauliflower here is £1- (US $1.31) but often on sale for 50-70p. If I went to a supermarket and they wanted $6 (£4.60) for a cauliflower I would die laughing- even $2.50 (£1.90) I would expect some sort of a glorious/huge heritage vegetable. No wonder the fast food vs home cooking culture is so different from one side of the pond to the other! Here we can also get frozen veg in bags- where you often get more for your money and it’s still good for lots of things- frozen veg curry is one of my lazy-day cooking specialities! A handful of every bag of frozen veg in the freezer, a few tablespoons of curry powder or assorted spices and a tin of coconut milk! Simmers in a pot for 15-20 mins with little to no interruptions from me and I can even say it’s a healthy meal!

Yeah that’s really annoying- I hope it arrives in time for you- or sooner if possible!

    Good Eats!

I agree, cauliflower is a really good and healthy substitution for a lot of things- I make “Bombay cauliflower” instead of Bombay potato sometimes as a side if we’re having curry (as we normally have curry with rice and rice with potato is a bit too much for me)

I noticed this over Christmas too, I had a countdown and then I was meant to be next, the map showed the van went to my street... and then- nothing! And then the map showed the van leaving and going further away! I really panicked but I was at work so there wasn’t really anything I could do, and then an hour later he just turned up! After the first time happened it happened a few more times but I was sort of expecting it then- and nothing was as urgent to be delivered so if it was late I wasn’t really fussed. My working theory is that those maps are a mix of gps and a schedule, it shows the van where it’s meant to be making drops on its schedule, but it’s not actually gps controlled, then when the driver calls his RM or whoever and says “I’ve been delayed” they drag the schedule back to where they actually are and it starts playing again.

Bones You'd Like to See, thread #4

Ehhh I think that's pretty niche, I'd rather see that as an expansion than a whole Kickstarter based on that- I would probably go for a $50 expansion pack with a bunch of beasts and riders, but if that was the core set I'd be really disappointed. Maybe it's just that the campaigns I've run I haven't had a great need for people mounted on "weird" things, but perhaps that's because comparitively I've not been running for that long. I also think it would be pretty hard to sculpt them so that riders were interchangeable, but I'm not a sculptor so maybe not? What I actually think I'd be way more interested in is "riding conversion packs" so saddles of varying sizes, perhaps with the legs sculpted on already that can be put onto other creatures- perhaps they're a bit hollow underneath the saddles to make it easier to pop them on with some greenstuff underneath for a tighter fit? I don't know if this would work better in metal or bones actually in terms of being able to adjust how wide the saddle goes, OG bones could maybe be heat shocked into fitting the curvature needed but metal might be good for this also with a bit of brute bending? idk.

New Goals for a New Year!(January 2019 Hobby Goals)

Mid month Update: I have painted 7 models so far this month, I have several others as WIPs or primed and ready to go, some are even larger than character sized so even if I don't finish 15 if I finish 10 and 2 large ones I'd be happy with that. I have decided to run Waterdeep: Dragon heist, though I have not read past the first 5 pages yet or prepared the "miniatures required list" I have also now painted over 33% of the miniatures I own (not including kickstarter unshipped) I'm really happy with this as even though I know there's hundreds unpainted- that still feels like a good % to be at. Ofc next month's shipment of Bones 4 will blow that out the water! Is this how you do a quote in a quote? Have I done it? Who knows! Let's find out. End of month update: I painted 18 models this month! Technically I also have another 6 that I would say are 66% done but I dont see those getting done tonight so I guess they'll go into February. I have read further into WD:DH, but I havent finished it or made a "miniature shopping list" and I could do some tonight, and probably will, but I dont think I'd be able to finish it, which is a shame! I'm still overall fairly happy with what I've done this month. It wasnt on my to do list but I have also re-done my spreadsheet so it's a lot more "user friendly" I'm really happy with it. I added "date acquired" to the file, and went through my instagram history to get as many as possible accurately dated- I'm interested to see how long on average it takes a mini to get painted! A long time that's for sure. Also weird fact, right now I own 337 miniatures- 337 is also the exact amount of miniatures I'll be receiving in my Bones 4 order too! Very coincidental. Though this is assuming I have logged everything I own correctly, and as I typed this I just remembered another small box I'm not sure if I've included.

Randomness XV: 'tis a silly place.

I have never frozen paint, so I have no experience- and even my experience with dried up paint is limited, I'm just mentioning something I saw on a post recently- if it's a choice between just throwing it out, or trying something first, people can see how they feel, but as I said I wouldn't recommend doing this in your cooking pans- use something you don't mind boiling plastic in, and if it doesn't work- well you were gonna have to throw the paint out anyway so no harm done, just a bit of time wasted I guess, if anyone tries it I'd certainly be interested in hearing the results if anyone does try it

Randomness XV: 'tis a silly place.

I saw a facebook post recently, may have even been in the reaper group, where someone said they had boiled their paints and had actually revived them, I cant say how true this is, but if you have a saucepan you're not fond of then whats the worst that could happen? EDIT: I found the post- I would approach this as a science experiment as opposed to thinking this is advice / a definite fix
