  1. Warlord - the state of play

A slight veering of topic, but I find that my Reaper minis (especially the Bones) are great for using with Gansesha Games' "Song of Blades and Heroes" rules, which are actively supported.
  2. I have a fairly scattered assortment of dremel attachments, but I was wondering what the hive mind thought were the best ones for dealing with mold lines on pewter or Bones? Though frankly, I think the X-Acto is better for the latter.
  3. February 2017 Goals

February Goals?! My goal is to paint any $%@& thing!
  4. I'd seen other people do things like this with projectors and LED screens, so I said "Why not?" There is a little refurbished HP Chromebox (with wifi) attached to the back via HDMI and a wireless Keyboard and Mouse. The screen is a 32" refurbished Element screen from MicroCenter. The frame is just 2x4's and some chair glides for feet. I put a sheet of plexiglass over the screen to prevent scratches. The idea is to put a player session of Roll20 up on the Chromebox and run the DM side from a separate laptop. The players at the table see the PC POV of the map while the GM sees the full map. The image in the picture is just a jpeg for sample purposes. The electronics (with cables, etc.) cost about $230. The lumber, etc. cost about $35.
  5. I wanted to do the embedded screen, but lacking a woodshop, it was a lot more effort for me. The box was a compromise. Later days, it may get upgraded into a table set up.
  6. tres cool! How about a pic of the dragon's back and wings?
  7. ISO Sea Serpent/Dragon

Hello all, Been away for a bit, but dipping my toe back in. I was wondering if there were any good aquatic dragon/serpent sculpts out there? Something not necessarily boxed set big, but goodly sized?
  8. ISO Sea Serpent/Dragon

I think the Safari one knarthex posted would suit the encounter nicely. It's pre-painted, but still looks pretty sweet and the price is right!
  9. ISO Sea Serpent/Dragon

    Thanks!
  10. I've finished the set of HQ minis I was painting for my brother. (Yay, me!) You can see the whole sordid tale on my painting blog if you like, but here is a shot of the whole gang:
  11. Still enjoying the Mega Paint set I picked up. Here are some recent efforts. The Space Marines were mostly for fun, and the beastman has been languishing a while, so I felt like I should do something about him. The night goblins are part of the Skull Pass set I'm trying to mine for more greenskin goodness. The images are a bit large, so I'm posting a link to the blog post that contains them. http://48orcs.blogspot.com/2014/07/painting-away.html
  12. Going to try and get these GW LOTR Gondorians done this month. I probably should get through some more Bones before the next KS too!
  13. HeroQuest Minis

Posting commerce links is a violation of board rules, however convenient it might be for all involved. Ah ok. Thanks for the 411. Perhaps I can at least let people know once it's out there sans linkyness and they can look for it themselves?
  14. HeroQuest Minis

@Jordan There is a plastic bead on the staff, yes. I thought it looked more wizardly. Here's a closer view:
  15. HeroQuest Minis

In theory, my brother will be eBaying this set along with the complete game. If he does, I'll post a link to the auction.
  16. Here's a Bones gnoll I slapped together. It would have been a faster paint job, but I think the bones resin didn't like the water from my wet palette. It took a couple coats to get things covered. I wasn't totally happy with TAP's "Monster Brown" so I used VGC Beasty Brown for the fur's basecoat. I'm digging the Bones gnoll & bugbear sculpts. I'm one mini away from finishing the HeroQuest project (gargoyle). Once those are done, I want to make more inroads on these Bones figures.
  17. June 2015 Goals

That almost scans for "12 Days of Christmas" FIIIIIIVE REEEEAPER ORCS!
  18. June 2015 Goals

Finish the HQ figs. More Bones
  19. Today it may actually get warm enough to spray prime some stuff! I'm going to prep this set of HeroQuest minis I am painting up for my brother. I'll be using colored TAP spray primer.
  20. I've posted a few more pics on the blog if people are curious.
  21. I've been working on a set of HeroQuest minis and I used the colored spray primers from The Army Painter to speed things along. I sprayed the chaos knights and the dwarf with Plate Mail Metal, the first time I've used a metallic primer. I just painted the dwarf. It turned out OK but the metallic undercoat was very smooth and seemed to be difficult to cover with other color where the mini isn't supposed to be steel. Anyone else have experience with this primer?
  22. Well, these aren't Bones, but I may try that on the knights!
  23. Thanks. Fortunately, I accepted that I have a brown thumb long ago, so I ignore planting or gardening. Here's a Fimir, too! http://48orcs.blogspot.com/2015/03/hq-fimir.html
  24. Here's the color test orc from the batch:
  25. Mission accomplished!
