  1. I finally have definitive proof I have terrible taste in movies. I watched, and enjoyed, Sherlock Gnomes this afternoon.

Getting to know you: January 2019

Yes, sort of. Generally, I'm more of a tea person, but I like a cup of coffee or two a day too. But it's not proper 'coffee' coffee (that stuff tastes terrible), it's prepacked little sachets of the stuff, usually with different flavours (Double Choc Mocha ftw!).

    A little and large shaman

Thanks guys! Finally did a bit more:- Finished off the skin with highlights of 1:1 Dwarf Skin/Dead Skin and 1:1:1 Dwarf Skin/Dead Skin/Light Skin. Today, I painted their hair (Stone Grey > Wolf Grey), masks (Leather Brown > Bonewhite > Brown Wash > Bonewhite with Blood Red eyes), and hats (Night Blue, shaded with 1:1 Night Blue/Black, highlighted with 1:1 Night Blue/Ghost Grey and glazed with Night Blue) with Leather Brown stitches, Bonewhite skulls and a (Scarlett Red > Brown Wash > 1:1 Scarlett Red/Red Orange) straps. I'm leaving the rats for now, waiting until I can do them all in one go.

Echoes of Death:- The Fighter WIP

Thanks! I'm getting there slowly but surely. Progress:- Yesterday I painted her bone axe (1:1 Cork Brown/Iraqi Sand > Brown Wash > Iraqi Sand > 1:1 Iraqi Sand/Bonewhite > 1:1:1 Iraqi Sand/Bonewhite/Off-white > Sepia Wash), with a (Beastly Brown > Brown Wash > 1:1 Beastly Brown/Ochre Yellow) rope holding it together. Today, I made a start on her shield. Basecoated the inside with Bonewhite, the outside is straps of Brown Leather, Red Leather and Cork Brown, and the lantern is Bronze all covered in Brown Wash. I'll do some more later, if it warms up a bit.

It was something I had been into on and off during my teens (basically I'd make friends with someone already in the hobby but it wouldn't last long). This last time I was looking for something to fill my evenings after I had to take a break from being an anime fan (I was watching way too much), and for whatever reason I remembered mini painting. And this time it seems to have finally gotten me hooked.

    The Sunstalker (NSFW)

https://imgur.com/W2NvtQC https://imgur.com/CoB0ov8 https://imgur.com/VPqucvu https://imgur.com/LLnJilq 'In the far west of the Borderlands, there is a land that spends a quarter of every year in darkness, the only light coming from the great gatherings of Sunstalkers that cover the plains. The locals tell a tale, about how the Sunstalkers, being the children of Night, aid her in her endless battle against Day by trying to eat the Sun. Whenever the Sun reaches the horizon the Sunstalkers gather, only to be held at bay by a mysterious person known as The Dawn Maiden. However, the constant battling eventually tries her out and inevitably she must leave the Sun unguarded, at which point it is devoured. In the end, her strength replenished, The Dawn Maiden returns and hunts down every Sunstalker, the indigestible fragments of Sun causing them to glow in the darkness. She cuts open their bloated bellies, reassembles the Sun piece by piece and releases it back into the sky to restart the cycle.' Presenting the Sunstalker, a monster from the game Kingdom Death: Monster. I don't really have the patience (or big enough brushes) for larger minis like this, so kept it super simple with lots of drybrushing. Despite that, I think it looks pretty good, so I'm happy. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

*Picks up model, tilts head one way, then the other* I'll take your word for it, but I'm not seeing anything.

Nope. Between going to a fairly mediocre high school and choosing to do A-levels I wasn't that interested in (I signed up for the same ones my friends were doing, unfortunately they then all failed their GCSEs), I was pretty burnt out on education by then. I did make a start on a science degree a few years later, but dropped out when the course tutor told me it was virtually worthless employment-wise as I didn't already have a sciencey job (a reoccurring theme with the various qualifications I done).

Thanks! ? Someone more worldly is going to have to explain that one to me, I can't see anything unusual on it's back. The hand flippers did get a good coating of Flesh Wash, but I think most of it ran off (or I got too heavy handed with the drybrushing).

    The Sunstalker (NSFW)

I didn't realise there were fluff teasers for the expansions, I'll have to give them a read, see if they give me any ideas for my fan-fiction Kingdom Death world. Yeah, it is pretty pointless and rather silly (as are the "naughty bits" on most KD minis IMO), even the feet tentacles don't make much sense. Although I think a Sunstalker who was all feet tentacles would look pretty cool.

Favourite movie:- Either Batman (the first Micheal Keaton one) or Batman: Mask of Phantasm. I've seen both way too many times, there's a lot of stuff that comes a very close second though. Favourite TV series:- This one's a lot harder as I do tend to get burnt out on TV shows fairly easily, It would probably be something anime though.

Thanks for the 'Likes' and comments everybody! I haven't read the Sunstalkers book yet, I wait until I face something in-game (which is why most of my Kingdom Death stuff is unread ). I didn't like the sculpt at first either, but it grew on me as I painted it.

    Dwarf Engineer

Presenting a Dwarf Engineer from Stonehaven, having recently backed their second Dwarf kickstarter, I thought I'd better finish what I got from their first many moons ago. This one is a bit rough around the edges, I didn't put much effort into prepping my minis in ye olden days, plus he's been partially painted and stripped at least a couple of times by this point, but I think he turned out okay. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

I managed to make it to the early 00's before seeing a Star Wars movie (despite owning some of the action figures as a child), I can't remember if I saw A New Hope or The Phantom Menace first, but I saw them on TV.

Echoes of Death:- The Fighter WIP

Progressing slowly:- Finished her arm wraps with with straps of Beastly Brown > Brown Wash > 1:1 Beastly Brown/Ochre Yellow, shoulder and torso armour in Red Leather > Brown Wash > Red Leather > 1:1 Red Leather/Ochre Yellow, and some Brown Leather straps with Brassy Brass studs and hoops. I would have gotten a bit further, but I keep finding bits I've missed hiding under her hair.

    20. A more serious answer is, I don't know, but a rough guesstimate would put it at somewhere between 300 to 400 minis. I really should make another attempt to catalogue them.

    I don't think I have a style, I just colour them in.

I think I put out a decent tabletop level paint job, it just takes a lot more time and effort then it should.

Echoes of Death:- The Fighter WIP

A rather late thanks! The dice have chosen this one to come back to the table:- Painted her mystery bag, the outside is Steel Grey, shaded with Steel Grey plus two brushtipfuls of Pure Black and highlighted with 1:1 Steel Grey/Wolf Grey. The inside is Parasite Brown, shaded with Brown Wash, highlighted with Parasite Brown and 1:1 Parasite Brown/Iraqi Sand and glazed with thinned Parasite Brown. I also painted her belts and bag tie (Leather Brown > Brown Wash > Leather Brown > 1:1 Leather Brown/Iraqi Sand > Brown Wash) with Bronze studs and face-buckle. Then I broke her headband again (for the fourth or fifth time), so I set her down while the glue dried. Then I started on her various cloth bits using the same Steel Grey scheme as her bag. ...Then I broke her headband again. Not reattaching it until I'm finished this time.

    Veteran Decimate

Presenting Veteran Decimate, a minor noblewoman turned sword for hire, who was originally a member of Guild Balls mercenary Union team (I haven't painted this version yet), however plot related shenanigans caused her to move to the Brewers Guild team resulting in this new 'Veteran' version. Really happy with this one, there's a few things I could do better (her bracers, straps and glove blend together too much), but I think overall it turned out pretty good. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
