    DSM7604 - Female Mage

I am trying to pick up painting again after a very busy time. This female mage is a bit of a test with OSL. Not really sure if I pulled it of to my liking. The fox is from another set from dark sword. Now I see the pictures I can see some more damage from when I dropped her. The tree I made myself.

    Stonehaven Elves

So, just got the bases finished up on my Stonehaven elves. Out of the five I've been working on, got four of them done and here they are! I'm in a pretty good mood because even though the initial photographed seemingly turned out yellowish and odd, I was able to just hit the Color button on the editing function and they cleared up to very close to their actual photos. I've been painting Ral Partha figures forever and a day, and this was the first time in a while I've moved over to a different brand, and I really enjoyed painting these figures. One of the nice things about these were the size. I'm not going to lie, bigger is easier. I've got another elf I'm working on, still in the WIP, and once I get him done, I'll go back to painting more Partha stuff. But in the meantime, enjoy!

    DSM - Rabbit Mage

I've had this little fella close to finish since the end of last year. He had a couple of accidents in the process of getting finished. Yet, I finished him. Here is an example of why I can't paint table top. He was started with the idea of creating a warband for Burrows and Badgers. If I keep at this rate I should have one finished by the end of the year. That being said, I enjoyed painting him up. I am also enjoying finally finishing him. I hope you enjoy looking at him. Thanks for any looking and any C&C you feel inspired to give.

    Brandle Birchstaff, #03505

My last topic on this forum was a Brandle Birchstaff and I liked him so much that I decided to paint another!

    03547: Juliette, Wizard (Bones version)

I finally painted up this mage, which I've had since the first Bones Kickstarter. Doesn't look like the non-metal version is for sale anymore, and I'm guessing that's because the mold is a little messy (the left side of her face and her pointing hand were pretty mangled and I couldn't entirely fix them). Still, I really like the robes since it gave me a nice place to practice simple clothing trim.
  6. This was the mini I painted for Siri, 02835: Jolie, Female Scribe. Also added to the vignette was the Imp w/Book from Familiars II (14087), the Crystal from Kal'Valanis, Lich Queen (03187), and a couple of books I had in my bits box. The vignette is on a (Foundations 2 sample) 50mm flagstone base from Forge Prints. I don't have the part numbers for the Reaper parts, since the Boneyard is down right now. In her request, Siri stated that she liked purple, so purple she got: As always, c & c welcome. EDIT: Apparently, I like to take pictures before I finish things. The books have writing in them now.

    Scibor - Wood Elf Mage

  8. Finally got around to finishing up the base for this figure. I've had her finished for awhile now, but I wasn't sure how to finish off her base. Here is what I finally ended up with. PS: I plan to take better shots with another camera since I feel she deserves better shots. But I just wanted to post her since I was so glad to get her finished. Edit: different camera with other's shown beside for difference.

    Hanseth Dimguard, Cleric #03469

The freehand is supposed to be of a nebula. It's the first freehand I attempted and I think it worked out pretty well as long as I preface with the proclamation that it's supposed to be a nebula

    60130: Diabolist WIP

With my old combined Reaper WIP thread rendered useless by Imageshacks ineptitude, I've decided to resurrect it as a series (hopefully!) of single WIPs. Starting with the Diabolist:- I've done the skin:- Based with my new Vallejo Elf Flesh, Flesh Shade Wash and highlights of Elf Flesh and 1:1 Elf Flesh/Off-White. I also mixed a drop of Vallejo Hexed Lichen into the final highlight mix for a touch of lipstick and eye-shadow (she also has teeny tiny Vallejo Wolf Grey eyes). Also did her hair:- Based with LED Blue and then washed with GW Gulliman Blue Glaze. I tried putting some white highlights on it, but it kept leaking into the grooves, so I gave up.

    DSM Female Mage with Staff

Been itching to paint up a human mini. I had this figure primed up, so I decided to start up this figure. I got the flesh base coated and the face painted up. Looking at it right, now I think I need to fix the eyes (Sigh). I think I'll keep going and finish up the skin tone and hair and see how I looks. Here is where she is at the start:
  12. These are old Ral Partha sculpts from Iron Wind Metals. They are assorted deckers and /or riggers from the Shadowrun game, i.e. people Of The Future who use computers in a virtual matrix and puppet combat drones in the physical world. It occurs to me that decker miniatures are not much called for, since all of their relevant gameplay is in online virtual personas which don't tend to look like people and in an environment where mapping out positions is impossible, so tabletop gameplay with minis is ... a little diffuse, at best. So I wonder how much demand there actually was for figures of the "meat space" physical reality of the deckers, the people who (this is so '90s a vision of the future) carried big physical keyboards in their hands and had to be physically wired into the computer network, including physical implanted wire plugs in their skulls! I love these figures for their outdated vision of future tech. Also they are lovely little sculpts. Anyhow, I have here the elf man from the set 20-572: Elven Deckers - Male & Female; the woman (who turned out to be an elf) from set 20-524: Riggers & Drones (5); the human woman decker from the set 20-501: Deckers (3);and the orc man decker from the set 20-595: Assets Inc. I: Shadowrunners. At the moment I've primed them with Titanium White and washed them with Burnt Umber. The hair is only blocked in so I can do the faces; it will be elaborated later. I am still working on the faces, although I like this first one: Elves are supposed to be a bit full of themselves, so I tried for a haughty look. Speaking of an obsolete vision of the future, this one is wearing cut-off jeans. I'm dissatisfied with this one's face. Fortunately in-game there are prosthetic "Chibi eyes", so I can paint them over weird and claim that's what they are. This guy is full of personality, although you can really see how bizarrely retro the idea of the tech is. Yep, he has to lug that thing around wherever he goes because there's no way a portable computing and communication device could be made, I dunno, pocket sized. As usual, this thread may be sporadic as my painting time is almost random between art projects.

    Black Witch, Darksword Miniatures

I've been a fan of this mini since the first time I saw it but still it took me some time to buy it, and almost even more time to gather up the courage to paint it. It didn't quite end up the way I wanted it to (I don't have that good brush control) but still it turned out kind of nice.

Alastriel, Elf Sorceress - Bones version

I've really been on an OSL (Object Source Lighting) kick lately. Here's another go with the Bones version of Alastriel.

    Myrianna of Aelfheim

Almost immediately after getting back from ReaperCon, I had to get started on another competition entry. One of the critiques on my pieces was that I needed to work on my contrast so I decided to prove to myself that I could on this piece. I also wanted to do something fun so I decided to paint her cloak in three different colors: purple shading, blue midtones, and teal highlights. By the time I was done with her, I had so much fun painting her and was extremely pleased with the results, that I did not care how she did in the competition. Well the competition was at Gamex this past weekend and she got 2nd place in Fantasy Single. Any input would be appreciated.

    Myrianna of Aelfheim

So rather than taking it easy after ReaperCon, I need to jump right into painting my next competition entry. This pretty lady is for Gamex on Memorial Day weekend and will be a good opportunity to push my contrast. I do not have paint on her yet, but I do have a color scheme mocked-up. I am going for cool, jewel tones with the back of the coat being blue shaded with purple and highlighted with teal. I would like everyone's thoughts on a base. I did some mock-ups and know what my favorite is but would like to hear your opinions on these or see if you have any other ideas.

DSM7304 - FEMALE MAGE WITH STAFF

I thought I'd post one of my RCon entry. Here is Darksword Miniature's Female Mage with a staff. Thanks for any C&C you feel like giving. For those of you attending RCon I hope to see you there.

    77057: Yukata Sorceress

So, I looked at this sculpt and thought to myself, "My, that's a lot of flat, undetailed space on this sculpt. I should do something fun with it." I need to get something better than my cell phone for these shots. There's metallic gold patterning as well, but it doesn't show up D: Now to work more on my patterned-fabric Yephima...
  19. Here is another miniature I plan to try to finish up for RCon.

    02096: Angel Of Death

This is a miniature I've had for a long time. Painted it when I was young. :) Still love the model. So much personality.
