  1. After some final sealer, Ajaxxus 5.0, Tiefling Barbarian, is ready to hit the dungeons! I'm not sure why he wound up so shiny in these photos, he's not glossy in person. Hanging out with Sir Forscale to show his reduced stature from earlier versions: I have a WiP thread of the conversion process here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/71285-lidless-eye-wip-ajaxxus-skiotho-tiefling-barbarian-conversion/?p=1456616 Hopefully I'll get to play in a game rather than run one soon and be able to use him again!
  2. This is entitled "Hardened Warrior" he is the Barbarian bust by Fantastic Miniatures. I'm bringing him to ReaperCon! C&C are welcomed and appreciated!

    The Barbarian

Unsurprisingly, another Games Workshop mini. This time it's the mighty Barbarian Hero Class Character from their Silver Tower board game. Had a lot of fun painting this guy up, it certainly made a change from all the heavily armoured dudes I've been working on lately, and I think the finished mini is one of my best to date. Also got a chance to try out some of my new grass tufts, I'm in love with the Sandy Tuft so expect to see those little suckers on everything. As always, and comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  4. Picked this up on E-Bay because she fits an NPC in my game. Photography is not one of my strong points. I did her base with static grass and a skull on the ground in front of her (not in the pic). I thought the skin came out nice.

    Draco the Barbarian - "Birthright"

I present to everyone my first 54mm figure... DRACO THE BARBARIAN!! This was a heck of a lot more fun than I thought it would be and easier to paint than I assumed. The Figure is Draco The Barbarian from Ares Mythologic. He strode from the ruins having pillaged the ancient treasures and surveying the land before him for yet more plunder... Draco knew the time of high adventure was at hand and he couldn't wait to drive his enemies before him and hear the lamentation of their women! Thanks for looking and please leave any C&C that you'd like EDIT: NEW PICS!!! These are the new pics with the tweaks done to it for more grass, ivy, flowers, plinth and name plaque. Thanks to everyone for looking and for the C&C!!
  6. Figured I'd go ahead and get started on this for my own and work on him this week while I get ready to do a Commission piece next week. This is the recent Barbarian Bust that I received from Fantastic Miniatures yesterday. I couldn't wait to get started and he's been a lot of fun thus far!
  7. Many moons ago, when the first official preview for D&D 5E were coming out, a friend and I were discussing that the Paladin preview had a Half-Orc as the example art, and it would be interesting to see more atypical race/class combos in the books. He had suggested a Tiefling Barbarian, and lo and behold, not but five minutes later, WotC previewed the Barbarian and it was...a generic Viking style Human. Later that day, during downtime at work, I thought I'd make it up to both of us and sketch out a concept for a Tiefling Barbarian. I kept the 4E & 5E pact-style Tieflings, and took a bit of influence from the design of Warcraft's Draenei, (a race of dimension travelers, who fled from their brethren who signed on with demons). After all, my main character in the game for almost a decade was a Draenei Warrior! Here's the initial sketch:
  8. I have located my camera! But, no lightbox, so the lighting is fairly harsh. Anyway, after packing up for the move, moving, unpacking, and then kinda sorta finding a place to paint I decided to get back into the swing of things with a quick tabletop mini. I was wanting to take another shot at the bronze skin triad, but I'm about out of minis that show a lot of skin. Fortunately I still had one half naked barbarian left from the kickstarter. Here are a couple I can post And here are a couple you'll need to follow the links. I have to say, this is the worst I've done on a face in quite a while but I just wasn't interested in smoothing things out and redoing the eyes. My copy had a "Bones nose" but I assume in metal there is more definition. 1 2

    Sonja's Sisters

I picked up 2608: Tyden at a paint-n-take, this is what my painting looks like when I don't have glasses: So I repainted her. I also found 2773 Tana in my box of figures, and thought this would be a good companion piece. Front view NSFW
  10. I recently found some small pics of an old paintjob. Grenadier Wooly Rhino with Barbarian Riders. I think I did this somewhere in the 90's Anyway..here is to old times..

    Mighty Grum, Red Box Games

Mighty Grum from Red Box Games. A really cool mini I finished while working through my huge backlog of RBG minis. He's quite small so I didn't bother (or rather I can't do it) with the eyes. I'm happy with how the skin and his fur coat (although it seems abit dull in the photo) worked out.

    Tyden, RM-02608

Yes - It IS a Reaper Mini ! and Not anthropomorphic. With all the events happening in the last several weeks, I barely was able to get much painting in. CC Numbers stolen, Bank being bought out and account changes, then finishing off the language course all threw me for a loop. Concentration became quite difficult. I am happy to report that the mini has finally been painted to my satisfaction. Thanks to our local Barbarian for tracking down one of his relatives for me. Tyden., Barbarian. She is really small, and I had a lot of fun painting her. As always your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Blonde hair, bronze "shield"... I almost painted her blue, not much to that female armor ! Here are a couple of photos.
  13. I've taken Reaper's 77373: Cuth Wolfson, Barbarian and merged his arms and helm with the body of 77008: Garrick the Bold along with a metal axe from one of Reaper's weapons packs to create this monstrous warrior of Great Renown! This is now Sir Garrick Wolfson the Mighty-Thewed! WiP here - http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/70094-sir-garrick-wolfson-an-ub3r-wip/ This is going to be in Bryan's hands in a few days! C&C are welcomed and appreciated
  14. So! I haven't painted as much as I've wanted to this summer, sadly. I planned to do more, but it just got away from me amid other things. I like how Deenah came out for the most part, but I'm not thrilled with her hair or skin. I'm not sure what to do to make blonde hair look good. Use light browns for a shadow? And then human skin continues to be a hit or miss experience for me. I tried to use the Rosy Skin triad, but I don't know if my skill is just too poor to showcase the difference in tint/shade between the triad colors, or if they need a little help to get them to pop against each other a bit more. Or maybe it's fine. I don't know. Edit: reshot the pics.

    03197: Thelgar, Half Orc Barbarian

I finished up Thelgar. I had some trouble getting him to cooperate with getting the pics. These are actually the best of the bunch. I may need to invest in a real camera at some point and come up with a decently lit area for picture taking. I want to thank Xherman for suggesting a wash on the leather parts. I was stuck trying to figure out what I wanted to do and I think his suggestion helped a lot. Nothing spectacular, but he'll work fine for the table top. Comments and critiques are most certainly welcome.
  16. Acquired as add-ons during the "Dungeon Monsters" Kickstarter by Johnny Borg Castings, I did up some dungeon decor and resting adventurers. "About our pay..." (the table and backdrop are the only non-Johnny Borg Castings material, both from Dwarven Forge) The decor alone: Drinking Barbarian: Feasting Barbarian: Resting Wizard who is not Santa:
  17. Reaper likes to make minis of all kinds of fantasy archetypes, including ones that are very good representatives of well-known fictional characters. I don't mean to say that they are copies or knock-offs or anything like that. These minis are all original work that tend to immediately make you think of said characters. A picture says more than a thousand words: We all know who this is supposed to be. Now my Frostgrave warbands will have access to another mighty barbarian. Maybe this one and the Grenadier one will face off on the battlefield one day? 02233 Conan of Cimmeria Dantrag of Heimdall Reaper Miniatures Metal 30mm base

    Red Box Games Red Olga

This is Red Olga from one of the Red Box Games Kickstarters, I don't think she is still in production. I tried too many different new color recipes here and it didn't come out as well as I hoped, but its still an awesome sculpt so wanted to share.

Vilhanna the Victorious, Red Box Games

Vilhanna the Victorious from Red Box Games (currently available through Hasslefree Miniatures as Hanna of Vil). A quickie to improve my 2016 painted stats :) And appreantly I'm still not confident enough to try some free hand on a shield.
  20. No complaints from me today. I like how this turned out. There are a few minor things that I would do differently in hindsight, but all in all I'm satisfied. This really started out as more of a test piece. Up until now I hadn't really made much use of the Reaper Golden Skin Triad for actual skin. I've used them individually on things like leather boots and even then it was sparingly. I still prefer more of a ruddy skin tone for painting human caucasians but this turned out alright. I'll do it again.

    Tregar, Hasslefree Miniatures

Another awesome sculpt from Hasslefree Miniatures. I'm quite happy with the skin tone of this one.

    02295: King Jurgen Heyerdal

King Jurgen Heyerdal. I'm a little disappointed in how this came out. It's one of the first Reaper minis that I owned but never got around to painting until now. I'm not sure where it went wrong. Maybe nothing is wrong with it and I just complain to much. What do you think?
  23. A recently finished piece that stands on her own, I picked up Kulgara during Free RPG Day. She's a great mini and a fun encounter in "Iron Gods"...one day I may even run it to get a use for her in a game!
  24. This was painted several years ago. I always thought painting darker skin would be easier. It wasn't. Taking a photo of this was a pain. Even after several coats of matte sealer, the mini still had a bit of glare. I tried diffusing my lamps and even made a makeshift light box. Even adjusting the ISO setting didn't work. This was the best that I could get.
  25. Opening up a thread for this big bad barbarian. I started on him last night, but forgot to take pics some WIP pics. Firstly, I coated all the skin in black primer and then used white primer to pull out the details and pre-highlight. Next I took Reaper HD Stained Olive and coated all of his skin in it, then took Reaper HD Ruddy Brown and coated over that. These are the pics I forgot to take, but I'll snap them when I get home tonight and add to this thread as I go along. ETA: I almost forgot, I also did his eyes already and then used brown liner to darken some spots, line where the skin meets leather, and give him a more brooding look.
