  1. These are a couple of the animal companion sets that I painted for one of my players (minus the spider which I have not finished yet). I didn't want to paint the cat like a plain panther and I decided to use an ocelot as inspiration. My favorite is the little wolverine guy even though the photos make the river rocks look like pastel M&M's lol. My usual background got ruined so I have to make do until I get a new one printed or buy a fancy one. The bear looks better in hand and I used blacks and browns in his fur so he doesn't look so flat as he does in the photos. I am not happy with the fake snow and how it turned out. It looked really good when I put it on but not so good once the glue dried. I guess next time I will try baking soda and see how that works out. These are for gaming though so baking soda wouldn't have been the best choice probably. Anyway, here they are! C&C welcome.

    Warg 77202

Only had about 45 minutes to paint tonight so I decided to finish the Warg I'd linered yesterday. So another speed paint, but I'm pretty happy with the result. Was thinking of gmork from Neverending Story while painting it.

    Bones Wolf from 77176 Familiars

Just a quick hour-long paint, almost exclusively drybrushed, and the ground is just drybrushed with three green colors I grabbed at random. But it's painted, which is 100% progress since I finished Mashaaf. Pardon the horrible pics; I couldn't find my nice background pages. Sir Forscale, to show how little this guy is. :) Colors used (in order): Brown Liner (base coat) Powderburn Brown (fur) Shadowed Stone (fur) Concrete Grey (fur) Misty Grey (fur) Solid Black (eyes, ears, mouth, nose) Solid White (shine dots) Jungle Moss (ground) Jungle Camo (ground) Pale Lichen (ground) EDIT: This is the figure I painted for Day 1 of my "paint one mini per day all of November" challenge. 77176: Familiars 2 Bones Wolf

I got back to my Bones figures from the Kickstarter. The wolf familiar looks more like a dog to me. So I painted him to look like my wife's dog.

    Furry Bones

Decided that I'm gonna do some quick and easy animals. Not much progress tonight, but then it was a late start...
  6. Hi Folks, my Orc Heavy Chariot Kickstarter went live today. It includes 3 crew members and is drawn by two Giant Wolves. There are two additional extra's available too. The Kickstarter Link is at the bottom of this posting. Thanks for the interest. ;) Andy T. Orc Heavy Chariot Crew. Wingnut' Orc Champion Giant Wolves based on an original casting by myself. 7. Hi all, I continued painting my Terran CAV force in my simple desert GDI-like scheme. I added the Big Guns Thunderbird, Fire Support Raijin (very nice sculpt) and the tanks Wolf. Raijin: Thunderbird: Wolf: Incremental Force Group Shot: To be Continued...
  8. So I started packing up my Gencon stuff yesterday and realized that I was short three wolves for my brother's Ringbearer game. These three early Ral Partha wolves were already primed, so they got picked for the quick treatment; about an hour this morning. Basing sand is drying as I type...
  9. So as some of you may have read, I am going to try to do a basic airbrushing tutorial on Friday night, June 24, 2016, starting at about 2100 (9pm) EST on google hangouts. The idea is to show folks the basics and beginnings of how to use an airbrush... This is the mini I chose: I started the clean up, assembly, gap filling, because folks already know how to do that stuff.... I chose it because it is large enough for people to see what is going on when it is being painted, but not so big it takes over my table, like a dragon would... I have done a Type III Demon before, so I won't have to go to crazy figuring things out, and there are some semi advanced things I can try to show as things progress.... So Thanks for looking, and hope to see you at class! George

CAV SO: Terran Wolf (Reaper 94075)

Hey everyone! Finally got around to finishing up the final details on my terran wolf tanks. This is my third real attempt at using OSL on these guys and I think I could have done a better job. I just can't seem to make the light reflections "pop" on these models like I could do on the other ones. OSL gurus, any tips for making mine look better? Maybe having more of a gradient? Tried for awhile to get it to look right but I am missing something. The only thing I struggled with was where to put the star. All the stars are going on red sections and are centered on the models, but the wolf didn't really have a good place to do that. I originally went with stars on the back hatches, but I would have had to do 2 to get them to look right. I am happy with having them on the main gun as you see here. Overall, I am happy with these guys, who now get added to my budding terran force: I think it's coming together pretty nicely, but I'm drowning the CAVs in treads now... Simba is next!!!
  11. Hey everyone. Got the CAV bones kickstarter a few weeks ago and have really been itching to paint some BIG STOMPY ROBOTS. I decided to go with a yellow and red theme for the terran vehicles and CAVs. The original inspiration was the Imperial Fists of 40k lore, but it has evolved into a much more worn looking desert theme. Right now I am working on some Wolf tanks and Tsukai APCs: There are quite a few steps to them: 1) Airbrush white, then airbrush with a basecoat of 3:2 butternut yellow : nutmeg brown, AKA UTF khaki 2) Airbrush with UTF Khaki 3) Ink wash with GW's Reikland flesh shade, a nice reddish shade to get the shadows. 4) Drybrush with UTF khaki to get the mid tones back 5) Lighter drybrush with 1:1 UTF Khaki : white Now the yellow is done and I can START on the other colors :) The red is a craft paint burgundy, actually, with the exception of the inks, they are all cheap craft store paint. I will edge the red bits with a 1:1:1 mix of white, burgundy and burnt orange. I realized too late that the burgundy is a "cool red" and clashes with the warm yellows so some orange had to be added to the highlights. The gray bits will be drybrushed with some lighter versions later on. The red needs to be edged and the windows and lights painted still, but the yellow bits are finished. Finally, every unit gets a white star which is the symbol of my company. C & C are welcome! Would love to hear what others think.

    Reaper Wolf Demon!

Hey guys todays submission is the freaky Wolf demon. This is the latest focus of my Dungeons and Dragons adventurers ready to squeeze the life out of a half elf Ranger!! I am pleased with the fur effects ,Turquoise with green and blue gradients...Also the tattoos on the body I focussed on the back story of this demon being jilted by her elf lover..Hence the broken heart on her chest! I hope you approve of this paint job! I also finished up the base on this one yaaay! Any comments are received gratefully! Enjoy!
  13. Hey guys this is the first of two submissions I am putting on today. I had an undead outlaw and a warg so decided to pair them up! I hope you like this pair comments would be gratefully received as always you guys are awesome!!!

    Ral Partha Wolf 02-508C

Another one of my Evil Bay rescues, I decided I needed something a little more simplistic on the side while working on the Hobgoblin & Death Chicken... So now my only issue is do I paint a 'Normal' wolf, or a Technicolor one???? Since it is for breaks while doing the other, I am not sure if easier, or more humorous would be better.... George And yes, this was the one that was operated on the other day...

    CAV: SO UTF Wolves

Here are 3 CAV:SO Wolf tanks, done in the same UTF colour scheme as the Dingos I did a few weeks ago. It's a beautiful day out so I took them out on the deck to get some quick pics... As with the Dingo, the turret seems to stay fine so I haven't glued them. Hopefully by the end of next month I'll actually get a CAV painted for my CAV:SO Terran army.....

    Leif and Daelas

I whipped up a couple of really quick TableTop figures to represent my new Ranger PC (Leif) and his Wolf Companion (Daelas or Shadow Leaf in Elvish). Took me about 5 hours total for both figures and their bases. Bases are stamped with the new Happy Seppuku grasslands stamps and then I used some grass tufts to add more texture. Figures: The Ranger is from DGS Games - SKU: 101008 Forester of Falkaar, Material: Pewter The Wolf is the "Hunting Wolf" from Dark Sword Miniatures SKU: DSM7410, Sculptor: Jeff Grace, Material: Pewter I've painted up a few of my DGS figures so far that I got at ReaperCon last year and from one of their recent kickstarters, am really liking the line, very nicely cast, few mold lines and great details to work with! Of course, I'm also a huge fan of DSM and have also painted up quite a few of their figures.

    CAV - Wolf (94075)

Here is the next set of models that have been finished in my ongoing CAV Terran army. This follows my other sets for the paint scheme. As always comments welcome.
  18. This week I completed the Warg figure from the Bones II original figures set. I didn't realize he was a Warg when I started painting him; I just assumed he was a large wolf. So, I decided to paint him as an Arctic Wolf because, as with the rest of the animals I've been doing recently, I was painting him up for Frostgrave. A always, C and C welcome.

    GW Fenrisian Wolf Pack

I know I disappeared ages ago and all, but I'm kind of back =] I've still been painting, winter just got me into a bit of a funk about it (I don't have a proper setup, I paint on my couch, so sadly I can't set up a daylight lamp), but now that the days are lengthening again, I'm starting to get back into it. So I've ended up owning two lots of Fenrisian Wolves - the first pack, I started painting as elemental sparkle wolves, haha, but I've stalled a bit with them, so I grabbed a second pack and painted them up a bit more normally... So here they are. My apologies, my mini photography is a bit rusty now. Safari Ltd. Wolf - "Winter Wolf"

Safari Ltd white wolf (can be found in some "Tubes" sets) redone as a Winter Wolf. Done back in January for table top use. Cork rocks, white sand snow, and smoothed "craft glass" for blue ice spikes. Crappy desk light and phone picture but you get the idea. CC always welcome!

  25. (Yay, typo's in the title, lol) This was painted at the recent NEMPA Paint Day on Sept. 19th by my painting padawan/rent-a-kid Spawn Number One. (My friend April's 15-yr-old son Thom...) It's the Bones version of the wolf familiar originally found in Familiar Pack I. It was primed with brown liner and painted rainy grey (body) and polished bone (muzzle, chest and tip of tail), washed with a mix of pure black and violet shadow, and then dry-brushed with the base colors again before getting some dry-brushed highlights. Base was primed with blue liner, basecoated a mix of a medium blue that came with one of the LTPKs and ghost white, then dry-brushed ghost white and then some pure white highlights were added along the top edge. I did the eyes for him. Because I was busy with so many other things during the Paint Day, we forgot to paint the nose. I'm still trying to instill the concept of brush control in him, but he has a bad habit of trying to tickle the mini with the brush rather than using long deliberate strokes.
