  1. I looked at this sculpt with a GREAT amount of fear and nervousness. Complicated, Multi-small parts, and just a complete display of "I will make you jump through hoops". It lived up to its threat. Gluing was tedious, and physically painful. Sharp ! There is nothing really intuitive on this piece, even the head goes on crooked !! You have to do a difficult mini in order to grow, and this one will provide ample opportunity! ROFL. She is fun, Challenging, and color wise, a field of flowers waiting to be painted. Hope you enjoy. Give me a comment about what you think please. All are appreciated. So here is the Page of Wands from Dark Sword Mini's, I have adored painting her, and have spent 11 days completing her. Jasonator.
  2. Incredible, that's the only way I can describe the experience of Painting this Miniature. Tom Meier is know for his skill, but he has this ability to put so much detail into the smallest of Mini's. This is NO exception. Loved working on this mini (look out for the antlers..."SHARP". The Mini is also very small. I have experimented all over the place on this mini. Colors were the basic Wash/primer/than Brown Liner. I then started mixing Nightmare black (which is really blue) and put on about seven coats, mixed vampire whites into pallet, Cavalry reds, washed, and anything I could mix in there. I had my trusty color wheel out, and was just playing. Eventually he said "I'm done/cooked/finished. So here he is. I even used clear colors in this paint trip. Your comments are solicited, and very appreciated. Do let me know what you think. Jay Here are some photos: I Forgot to add the obligatory quarter when I paint anything by Tom Meier; gives you an idea how small he is !

  4. This is not my idea; I saw someone else's project online a while back, and ever since I've been looking for an opportunity to try it. Then I was with a friend recently who was punching out the counters for his newly purchased copy of the Congo ruleset, and I asked if I could have the remaining cardboard frame left after all the counters are punched out. I then cut the frames into sections to look like partially destroyed walls, and glued them on to 6" x 6" cork bases. Next, I'll be adding some detail bits, an then spraying on a base coat.
  5. Link About this project I've been making miniatures for about three years now, during that time I've made sculpts for various miniature companies as a freelancer sculptor. Now I've decide do to take the plunge and produce some of my own miniatures. That aspiration led me to Kickstarter. I've been busy sculpting the range of undead miniatures presented here over the last few months. They're predominantly 28mm sculpts, the Undead Heroes are larger at 32mm scale, to fit their powerful status. I consciously made them an eclectic bunch, including animals. My vision of the undead force is a terrifying mix of all forms of life, bent to the will of their masters. During the course of this campaign, I'll continue to sculpt miniatures to add to the range. I have a Facebook Group - March of the Dead, where I'm working on suggestions offered by the groups members. The more popular ones will be joining the miniatures here. The objectives of this project are to firstly see the miniatures produced in white metal by Macrocosm Miniatures and in your possession In a timely manner. If things go really well, then hopefully I can also get a shiny website made, so I can continue producing miniatures and offer them online. Anyway. I think that covers the background. Time to show you the miniatures on offer..... To select multiple rewards, pick one of your choices, then amend the total to include the grand total. I'll then collect the details of your order with the Pledge Manager.

  10. Nan is completed. Thanks for everyone's input from the WIP I did. This is something much much different that I usually would do. I went out on a limb, and am very happy with the results. This is experimenting out on the ledge for me. I actually had no idea what I was getting into! ROFL. The sculpt (being a Meier) is exemplary, and astonishing. I wanted earth tones in this mini, and I was keeping her grounded in many ways. I was trying to amp the emotions that were displayed, and get that in focus. No hero with bow, shield, sword, or mace; just an old lady with her convictions, and keeping in focus what it all comes down to. I did utilize the autumn leaves, fresh snow, and a piece of manipulated bark as the stone to tell a story. I really like what this says to me. Here is "Old Nan" as I see her. Your comments and critiques are most sought for, and respected. Jay
  11. A number of years ago I backed the Fireteam Zero Kickstarter for the big box of Minatures. Needless to say it has been quite a few years for this to turn up, and at one point I was not expecting any models to be delivered. (Funded April 1st 2014) Overall I am happy with the sculpts and quality of the models. Plenty can be used in a range of Wargames. I started with a simple collection and with both my two sons (4.5 and 6 years old) gave the following a coat of paint. The youngest helped with some of the base coats whilst the older did some of the basic highlighting. First up is four fire bone tokens (?) these were painted as two spawn locations for a game I have in mind for the boys to play at some point. Next up is a selection of insect creatures I plan to use these as Kaiju in Horizon Wars or CAV games as they look good at that scale. Here is a ghost of some kind, the plan is to use him as a monster in Frostgrave And finally one of the best models I have painted so far from this Kickstarter is a Purple Worm. Once again there are plenty of games that can use this model. Comments or feedback welcome. These models will be added to my children's set of Bones monsters for regular use, as they have helped paint them.
  12. I was tidying up some of the many areas I have models stored in the house and I came across a box of primed wargaming models. So I selected a few and decided to paint them, these will either be used for Frostgrave or other games. There are 14 in total some with black undercoat, some white and some cream. I will try and post updates as I got through them, hopefully I will progress a few at a time but may end up finishing one at a time. Thanks for looking.
  13. Since I tossed a vacation into the middle of working on this mini, it has been a tough time getting back to it. I usually love all things Dark Sword; however the assembly of this mini left a LOT to be desired. The arms and shield were next to impossible. Once some pre-painting, and the shield was in place things moved along better. It became a great deal of fun by the end. I tried to keep the basing simple, I want the attention going to the "Brave Cat", and his display of emotion. So here is Brave Sir Robin - Scaredy Cat. Your comments, critiques, and likes are solicited, and appreciated. Jay Here are some photos:
  14. I have been working on Brave Sir Robin Scaredy Cat Most of the week. As I am wont to do; this DSM is a real difficult assembly, and the assembly has to be done in two parts. Since he is holding his shield over his head, you will never paint face, or complete shield if you attempt to glue first. I know that I will be using green stuff on this one already. (shield is going to be a problem with attachment). Anyway. Here is the way he is coming together. I've been working the tabby backwards.. As I add one component after another, it wants to be darker by another step. So I just keep on mixing more darker tabby colors. The Red should eventually pop. Thought I would show how I am doing the more difficult Dave Summer Mini. Here are some photos. Comments, critiques, suggestions are very welcome. Jay
  15. Hey Gang, I'm messing around with Old Nan, sculpted by Tom Meier. I tend to experiment the heck out of his sculpts. This one is no exception. I am staying in the darker more subdued browns/greens as I go about this figure. It has been primed, brown lined, I've used black walnut over the brown shadows. Darker blues where the figure is blueish, and the shine on the apron is black walnut, a touch of Orange, yellow, and Bronze. I kind of really like that look. She has eyes, and face and hands. Need to start looking at highlights, and refinement. Keeping in mind how small this one is, (not much bigger than a quarter) any suggestions/Comments ? I've put two days of painting on her. Jay
  16. Caveman Vs Wild: The Big Chill is Flytrap Factorys latest Kickstarter for a range of 28mm white metal miniatures and rule set, it has been funded and has 7 days left of the campaign. In Caveman vs Wild you take the role of a tribal chieftain leading a hunting party of muscle bound Neanderthals packing state of the art hunting utensils in search of prey and supplies in advance of the encroaching winter now firmly gripping the lands. There are a variety of miniatures on offer from the Neanderthals, Pygmy Hunters, Mammoths, Woolly Rhinos, Doom Turkeys and Dire Bears and Squirrel Rats. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1959627361/flytrap-factory-presents-caveman-vs-wild-the-big-c/description
  17. Much to my amazement I just finished the Mini. I have to say that this one put me through my paces. I suspect that after three years of painting mini's I have gotten a lot tougher on myself when it comes to how I think my Miniatures should look. I've gotten quite demanding I fear. Since it only applies to my work, thats okay. I glued the mini prior to priming and painting, which makes things much more difficult. On the white front cloth I drew in light gold designs, they are barely seen, The cloak was a blast to paint as was the armor, face and hair. I had to give him that reddish hair just to make our resident Canadian Ranger happy.. Hope he meets your approval robinh. The base was a blast, but a lot more difficult than it looks.Painting the flowers in was a hoot. So, here is my interpretation of the Male Ranger With Bow. Thanks to those that shared their ideas. My hands are saying Rain and T-storms tomorrow, its wonderful being able to predict the weather (NOT). Any comments/Critiques greatly appreciated, and sought after.. Here he is:
  18. Book of Nox:Voyage to Mirovia is the first expansion for Book of Nox, a Victorian horror dungeon crawler and will bring an aquatic steampunk element to the game. The game uses 28mm white metal miniatures with cast resin tiles and doors. Its a 30 day campaign and backing this project you will be able to get the miniatures at up to 35% off the retail price. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1043156996/book-of-nox-voyage-to-mirovia/description http://i.imgur.com/1vf7qIY.jpg
  19. Here is another selection of photos of a set of Gladiators painted for a commission from a friend in work. Not sure of the game but these are the only models and he wanted some more colourful then the light grey plastic. The plastic is a bit similar to bones but a bit more flexible. I kept the pallete simple and quite limited in colours. The facial detail wasn't great on a few and this is the reason why I didn't do any eyes. As always comments welcome.
  20. Sometimes I am not sure the house structure works here as I have just decided to invest in a new army at my wargaming club. We have opted for Lions Rampant and I fancied getting some plastic Arabs. The plan is to build a crusader army at a letter date. Anyway first of all I bought a box of Arab Spearmen and Archers and a box of the Arab Heavy Cavalry. There is plenty of models here for a full retinue so first things first was the initial construction. The models offer plenty of options and they go together easily. I opted to build them all, this way I can play with them even if they are not fully painted. (Although this is frowned upon) The models were all built and then be bases were textured with a mix of sand and grit and sealed with PVA glue. The models were then undercoated black and left to dry.
  21. I was totally impressed by the Impudent Mortal Kickstarter, but seeing as the buildings on offer didn't appeal as much as older stock they had I ordered directly (and boy was it FAST). Because I wanted to get an idea of what I was doing before I tried building my fancy new things, I took advantage of a FLGS gift card to buy a Knight Models SWAT truck for the Batman game. Here are some product pics behind the spoiler The truck/van is mostly done except for touch-ups and sealing... but I'll still be posting process pics that I took along the way. I mistakenly thought it would be faster than a miniature (and I guess it was at my current pace)... but not really. The other ones I'll be posting as I go (I'm planning on using fancy Japanese paper offcuts as wallpaper, so it'll probably be slow).
