  1. So after giving a good scrub with warm soapy water, gluing him to a base, and base coating with Brown Liner, I drybrushed his armor with shadowed steel, painted his eyes, blocked in face, and hair, and then went to town with the cloak and shield. The shield is Dragon Bronze as the base, and the greens and blues are blends of Oceanic Blue, Viper Green, and Linen White and Pure Black.
  2. New 5e Party

My group decided to start up a new 5e campaign. We just hit Level 2 and I realized we where still playing with (my) unpainted miniatures, so I offered to paint them for everyone. They're a little below what I would normally put in, but I did all 5 in a single sitting, and they are fine for tabletop play quality, so I'm happy. My largest complaint I guess, is that I apparently ran out of my trusty Testors Dullcote, so with just the Liquitex Matte Varnish I had put on, they still have much too much sheen for my tastes. But I can fix that once I have a chance to pick up more dullcote. Given the above information in hand, I would love feedback on these none the less. No attempts at shading or layering where attempted on these, just basecoats, wash and a bit of drybrushing.
  3. Turanil, Elf Paladin

So here' the WIP progress thread I decided to do for my Turanil miniature. I've had the "finished" version of him posted in Show Off for about a week, but I finally got a working SD card reader so I can post all the WIP photos and do a step-by-step write-up on him. Turanil, Male Elf Paladin (Reaper Bones #77044): Undercoated in Reaper pure black and Vallejo german cammo black brown everywhere metallics will be used Vallejo Game Color bright bronze armor base coat (mail, boots, and shield edges), drybushed this on the mail to leave some of the previous black brown in the recesses Reaper harvest brown mixed with Vallejo cammo black brown for leather base coat (straps, belt, scabbard, etc.) Vallejo Model Color Air polished silver (plate armor base coat, shield details, sword blade) Vallejo Game Color polished gold (armor details, sword details, shield edges) Army Painter quick shade inks (blue tone and purple tone - first coat on shield details): Reaper pure black and pure white for eyes - (followed dks' "how I paint eyes" tutorial: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/36753-how-i-paint-eyes/?p=528064) Vallejo Game Color elf flesh and pale flesh in various mixes (about 3) for hands and face Reaper harvest brown and leather brown mixed about 50/50 for lighter leather details Vallejo Game Color bloody red, Reaper viper green, and Vallejo fiery orange in various mixes for cloak Two more coats of Army Painter quick shade inks on shield details, and several coats of the blue on the sword blade Reaper HD dragon blue, dragon blue mixed with Reaper pure white 50/50, and Reaper pure white for gemstones on the sword hilt. I decided that there was too much gold showing on the back, so I changed the base shield color to silver instead. Reaper shadowed stone on the base, and various touch-ups with polished silver and gold on detail pieces Final product mounted on a Reaper 1" base with some mossy details Any comments and critiques are welcome! Hope you like him!
  4. So here's my latest completed mini. Other than the base coating, which I did last week in Reaper pure black and Vallejo Game Model Color German cammo black brown, I knocked him out in about 3 hours this evening. I still have a small amount of touch-up work to do (at least a second coat on the base) but he is essentially done. I tried a few new things with this guy, and I am very happy with how he turned out. First, I tried painting blue gemstones on the hilt of the sword, which I think came out pretty good for my first attempt at doing them. I also made use of my Army Painter inks, using blue tone on the sword blade and blue and purple tone on the shield. I really like how that turned out. I'll do have full WIP write-up on him later (I took a ton of pictures while I was painting him with my camera and new SD card, and now I can't access them because my SD card reader stopped working. Have to buy a new one this weekend.) Anyway, I hope you guys like him. Comments and suggestions are very welcome!
  5. Last of my bones.

Starting with the last, and my first NNM sky and earth NNM. I know the shield line is the wrong angle, I should have gone way more horizontal, but I wanted pictures of how good it looks now. She may o on the shelf of shame, for all her beauty. I'd love some feed back on her BTW ... Second to last. this guy was a lot of fun, but not sure about the chest armor. Others - some better some worse: Ill update with group shots either all the bones, or possibly all the figures I finished this year (80ish?)
