    77265: Drys, Dryad

Had an extra one of these lying about, and decided to experiment with a limited palette. Here’s how she turned out: Front Back Main colors used were MSP Woodland Brown, Brilliant Green, Scholar Flesh, and Yellowed Bone (and it’s triad). Not completely happy with her skin tones, I tried everything up to Moth Green trying to get a light tone that still read as green. Wound up using one of the darkest greens I have, go figure. Shaded by gradually dropping the flesh tone until it was straight green, but it turned out to be a rather extreme color shift. I like how the base and tree trunk came out, however. The ground shade was achieved by throwing some blues and yellows together until they stopped being bad and then painting some gray on the rocks. All in all, I think it turned out all right for just messing around. Definitely something to practice in the future. Comments, critiques, and suggestions appreciated.

    Angie paints the Emerald Nightmare

Now the first thing I might need to explain is what the Emerald Nightmare is, and why it's red instead of green! The Emerald Nightmare is a place from the game World of Warcraft, and it's a corrupted version of the wonderful lush Emerald Dream. The Nightmare is shades of grey and black with orange, red and pink, filled with twisted trees, mangled dryads and chtulhu-esque horrors. In fact, I think the loading screen to the Emerald Nightmare gives a nice impression: The models I painted in this style are a Chthon, a Dryad and a Treeman! All three of them together. Dryad is nude. The Dryad is nude. Back of the dryad, still nude.
  3. While I've been relatively inactive, my lovely wife has not. She's been working on a selection of figures some of which in my admittedly biased opinion are much better than anything I've ever done >.> 77265 - Drys, Dryad I love this figure and the paint job is so subtle. The shading on the greens is superb - unfortunately, I'll have to work out how to link the front again : ) EDIT - front of dryad: https://goo.gl/photos/1FRcQ5ZqZoqGt3dCA 77313 - Krug, Hill Giant Yet again, some gorgeous shading on this figure. 77314 - Golan, Hill Giant This figure is very... uh, purple. But I think it works well. I might have to go over it and tidy up some of the tree branch club - the paint coverage isn't as good as it could be. But still a lovely bit of work. 89013 - Ezren, Iconic Wizard She has this annoying tendancy to rattle off freehand that's better than my "paint by numbers" detail work, elf her eyes! This one was a fairly fast paint, with not as much shading as she's done elsewhere. 89014 - Seltyiel, Iconic Magus She refers to this one as her "Michael Jackson" figure, for obvious reasons : )

    Reaper Con class Minis

Two that I finished: James Wapple "Shaded Basecoat" class. four colors, big cheap brushes - she was nearly finished in a 2 hour class - I added foliage, a few more green highlights. I wanted to leave t mostly just like it came out of the class. Front Back Side This was painted in Wapple style, but as a speed paint with Coporea dancing around the table egging us on. I wasn't happy with the result and spent several hours at the convention cleaning it up and basically repainting it. At one point his jacket was actually purple. I don't really like the figure, and it wont see much use in my fantasy games. But you see I have this motto.. "Must paint all the things" His face is still a little rough, but this was the 4th repaint of eyes, and enough is enough. Unfinished figures: I am choosing to leave these unfinshed, so that when I look at them I can examine the techniques I learned in class, instead of just another finished figures. painting the difficult colors (Black, White, Red.) and flesh and faces (Coporea)

    [77265] Dryad (Nudity)

Here's my second completed BONES 2 mini, the Dryad. I'll be picking her up in metal at some later date, this one's just not cutting it. Since I was on my way to [CLASSIFIED], and it's cherry blossom season over here, I decided to go with a Spring theme. The cherry blossoms were created using some clump foliage, sealed with super glue and painted. It's difficult to tell, but they're lavender, drybrushed in pink, then a light drybrush in white. It got really washed out in the photos. [Linked for Nudity] Front Side Back Side As always, C&C welcome!
