    Mouseling Beekeper - 77290

Here is another beekeeper. I love mouselings! I gave this one a honeycomb pattern on his cloak. It's not perfect but it it is so small, I am not unhappy with it. And I learned some things to help me the next time. So here he is, Grumble & Bumble.

    Mouseling Druid - 77290

I painted another little mouseling druid. I went with a darker, grumpier scheme with this one. I love painting the mouselings!

    Torg, Orc Stalker 14602

The weather is basically perfect, so I have been outside painting and writing D&D adventures while enjoying the sunshine! I got this bad dude finished a little bit ago and I am pretty proud of how he turned out. I will probably go back and touch a few things up later on, but right now I would appreciate any critiques and advice. Thanks in advance!

Deadly Grace: Dark Sword Elf Warrior

Finally got around to taking photos of my ReaperCon entries for 2017 and this was one of my entries in the Painter's category. This is Dark Sword's Female Wood Elf Warrior and I wanted to paint this one up for a long time but could not decided on what color scheme to use. All I knew was that I wanted to do something different than what you would expect for a wood elf but I did not know what. It finally came to me, use mainly purples and greys and make her a drow. After determining that, the base plan came to me pretty quickly, place her in a cave with natural crystals and spiderwebs. The webs were created using UHU glue. She ended up being my entry that was judged for that category and I was very pleased to receive a gold medal. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  5. Another one painted for the Summer Exchange.

    03439: Dicarus Darksword

Painted this one up for the Summer Exchange but kept forgetting to post photos. Love this little guy, lots of character in such a small sculpt.
  7. I believe I have posted one of these before, but I have re-based her, to match the 32mm of the others.:

    Need help painting a cloak

Journeyman painter here still struggling to paint when I don't have someone choose the colors for me. I'm trying to paint a Zombicide: Black Plague add-on hero named Black Currant, but I don't like his color choices. I want to make him mainly black so he's more worthy of his name. I want to nail the fur part of his cloak, though. I see some guy painted it with Skavenblight Dinge, but that looks to be some form of grey, to me. I'd rather it look more like fur, so I thought I'd paint it something dark and then dry brush it with something else. Anybody have suggestions or know of a good guide? Also, I'd welcome suggestions for the cloak color to go with dark black plate mail. Not really feeling the purple.

    Sir Conlan 77200

Greetings! This post and pics are less about bragging and more about posterity. I finished this guy up tonight and was pretty happy with how it turned out. However, it wasn't exactly how it hoped it would look. This is one of my favorite figs I bought in a long time, and I was stoked to get it started. So excited that I opted not to scrape away the mold lines and did a super bad job with the spray primer, which left for a lot of flaky areas and bits of plastic sticking out. So my plan for this fig is that next year, I will buy a new version of Sir Conlan and give him another try with some real prep beforehand. I'm hoping this will be a sort of measuring tape for how my painting is coming along. Worst case scenerio: I'll have an evil twin for this cool looking fig! Comments, critiques, and advice are always welcome! Thanks!

    Frodwine the Young by RBG

Frodwine the Young by Red Box Games Sculpted by Tre Manor I painted this one in an effort to cross two or three lines together; 1800 trapper, Final Fantasy wizard and Nordic(in terms of the way Tre Manor sculpted it). I wanted to try some OSL on this one so I went with making his eyes glow. I was "o.k" with the way it turned out. The base is a metal base from a set I got in the Box-of-goodwill a few boxes ago. I'm on a NMM kick right now so no TMM on this one. Over all I am luke-warm with out this turned out. The matte varnish (Vallejo) kind of glossed up for some reason when I sealed it... You live and learn. Hope you like it.
  11. Greetings! Just finished another Reaper 25th Anniversary mini, this time Eli Quicknight. I went with a dark gritty theme overall but with a flash of colour on his cloak. I used Reaper Master Series Triad 09701: Blood Colors for this - really happy with how they went on & the overall finish. Thanks for looking! (4 Down, 8 to go!)
  12. Greetings! Presenting Reaper's February 25th Anniversary miniature - Domur, High Mage. I got sidelined by a multiple dragon project recently so I'm a little bit behind with my 25th Anniversary figures project but I'm getting back on track now. I opted out of doing OSL on the spell effect & decided on something gaseous & non photonic (at least, that's the excuse I'm sticking to! ). I wanted to have the spell effect go through a distinctive colour change so I came up with a counjouring technique to explain it; First, Domur reads from the book, this causes a white inert harmless spirit to appear from the pages of the book. Then, as the spirit wafts closer to the magic crystal in Domur's staff, it takes in it's massive power (& colour) & becomes weaponised......... I used metallic blue paint to highlight the inner lining of the cape for an extra touch of wizardly oppulence. Finally, I've managed to sneak my favourite purple into the book cover - I'll be "shoehorning" this colour into all my Reaper 25th anniversary minis as a form of unification. 2 Down, 10 to go....... Thanks for looking!

    77165: Hellakin Goregutter, Halfling Rogue

This is the wise and brave street urchin, Parilli, the Shining Company's ertwhile guide in the city of Tephu in the Pathfinder Mummy's Mask Adventure Path. This is my second Bones mini, and I'm a convert. Speaking of conversion, Bones make weapon swaps and mods super easy. I removed his blade and drilled a hole through his hand, cut the studs off his armor, filed his fuzzy feet smooth, and based him with green stuff and sand. After sealing him, I added an actual twig as a camel stick/wooden sword he uses to emulate his hero, Zekir Safakin, the Sword of the Dawn, paladin of Sarenrae. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the sculpt and the limited palette, and had a good time with the stripes. His WIP is here. Please share any comments and/or constructive criticism.
  14. Greetings! Presenting Reaper's January 25th Anniversary miniature - Grim Reaper. This was quite a straightforward mini to paint, done in a veritable rainbow of dark colours. Working out how to do the hourglass (glass) was a bit tricky, I painted it all black & added a layer of light brown for sand in each half (level with the ground). I wanted to try & make the actual glass purple tinged so I gave the top of each half a purple spot dry-brush then coated both halves with a purple glaze. this did help to tint both the empty & full sections of the hourglass in colour but it's probably too subtle & can't really be seen on the pics. Finally I gave the glass parts a gloss varnish. 1 Down, 11 to go......... (hopefully!)....... Thanks for looking!

    02967 - Alastriel, Elf Sorceress

Greetings! Presenting Alastriel, Elf Sorceress...... I really love the wonderful sculpting on this mini, she seems to be both beautiful & dangerous at the same time. I imagined her as a "Sea Elf" who lives on the cost protecting her kin from marauders & pirates with ship-destroying storm spells. I painted her in sea blue & sea green & extended the base with some rough basic sculpting into a more substantial rocky outcrop to reflect this. Thanks for looking!

    14481: Galdanoth, Elf Sniper

Another member my Frostgrave warband. This time an archer. Any critiques and comments are most welcomed. Please enjoy.
  17. This is the Anirion that I painted up as a quick (for me) tabletop mini for my husband's character for tomorrow's game. He has been using a stand in character while I got my rear in gear and was finally motivated to paint out the mini he chose. His character is for Earthdawn and is a Nethermancer who also has the mundane every day job as a private detective. So he doesn't want to be too flashy! I had considered making the top part of cloak and hood with the herringbone pattern like Sherlock Holmes but decided against it as I liked it and didn't want to ruin it with inadequate freehand attempt! This is Torothel the Nethermancer detective!
  18. I forget now where I saw this guy, but he was on this forum somewhere recently. I loved the sculpt and ordered one and this is the result of my flailing paint at it. I still only have my cell phone to take pictures with unfortunately. The mini looks a bit more crisp in person and and some of the contrast in the cloak is less flat than the picture suggests. C'est la vie. Also, I think Jerach would rock in Bones. I'm just imagining him decked out with some of the armory of virtue stuff.

    Gourls Paints Thund Bloodwrack 77199

Hey all! Been a bit busy lately as the semester is back in full swing and I'm in the middle of packing to move. My paints aren't put away yet (of course) so to try and practice, I painted up Thund here a few days ago. I somehow missed the giant mold line across his head until I looked at the picture just now. Sigh. His cloak gave me problems too. I did actually wash it, but I don't know if I then left him standing up and the wash ran out of the crevices of his cloak or if I just reapplied too much paint when drybrushing or both but by the end I was just frustrated and sorta vindictively sealed him and called him done. He'll suffice for sitting on the tabletop at least. C&C welcome as always! And any tips on the cloak issue would be appreciated too.

"You are too late. My blood now flows through her veins. She will live through the centuries to come, as I have lived......." I painted this wonderfully sculpted Sandra Garrity Reaper mini a few months ago but have been waiting until Halloween to show it off. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Happy Halloween everyone!

    03212: Iltheus, Young Mage

One of my husband's DnD characters, a young mage. Of course he died the day I finally finished him. Not sure I'm super pleased with color selection after was all done, not sure if he isn't a little too gray and doesn't pop like I wanted him to. The blue looks okay though. I have two other metal wizards that were intended to be the older versions of the same character, so they will get similar color treatments. I might try to give them brighter secondary colors though so they don't look as boring.
  23. So in the midst of the hooplah surrounding Bones 3, I decided to post up the mini I finished last night, the lovely Isabeau Laroche. I've actually painted this sculpt of her before, but it was horrendous (or I think so now) so I ordered another copy of her and did her up. I'm much happier with this take on her. She has eyebrows! It's a weird thing to be proud of, but I like how they turned out. I also attempted some freehand on her shield, tossing on the holy symbol of Sol, a deity in my homebrew D&D setting. Anyway, I hope you like her!
  24. Hey Guys! It's me again, TheBeardedEagle. I took a lot of your feedback from my last miniature and tried to apply it to this second miniature. This guy had some armor pieces and different styles of metals as well as cloth pieces and jewelry. I had a ton of fun with this guy and again cant wait for the third. I think it is a lot stronger than my first but I feel there is still a lot of room for improvement. Again I would love to hear what you guys think and criticisms are always welcome. Cheers!
  25. Here's Hellakin, one of my entrants for the Little People Beauty Pageant and part of my count for the Resolutionary Painting Challenge. I painted him in a single day so I'm pretty proud of being able to get that done, though he's not a speed paint by any means. Struggled a little to get his hair highlighted correctly, and not sure if I made the right color choices (the mister thinks I should've made him more flashy). I kept messing up the layering on his cloak too, making my layers too watery and having to repeat and glaze it back down. Anyways, I'm glad I've knocked him off my list, comments and criticism is as always appreciated.
