Tre is at it again, this time with dwarves:
  2. Recently, I had a mad idea to make a travel set for the mass fantasy battle game Kings of War. I could take it to my brother's so I can play it with my nephews and nieces, bring it to cons without needing to rent a U-haul, even take it to the beach. The general idea is to use 10mm figures instead of 28mm and scale everything accordingly. Since Kings of War uses unit bases with no figure removal I can fix these guys onto their bases and add some scenery, etc. After looking into what was available in 10mm I decided to start with two Lord of the Rings inspired armies, dwarves and orcs, based on the 10mm figures from Copplestone Castings with some figures from other companies to fill in any gaps. Anyway, I ordered a bunch of stuff (it's hard to say no when people are selling packs of 28 minis for just few dollars) and since they have a branch or at least distribution here in the US, the first to arrive were some dwarves from Eureka. They came before I was expecting them and I got all excited and gave them a quick bath, forgetting to clean up flash, etc. first. Yep, these guys are pretty small. The white bit of polystyrene is a 80mm wide horde base that should nominally hold 40 dwarves but my plan is to have the non-orcs with quite a bit less than that and if possible have more than 40 orcs on such a base. That's to give more of the feel of Tolkien's battles where the good guy are normally vastly outnumbered. More later.

This will be another Warbands project and will expand the current range of RBG dwarves with a new set of semi modular dwarven fighters3 fitted for right and left hand options, and one fitted for right hand options and one fitted for two handed weapon options and all having interchangeable heads. Along with those I will have a new dwarven elder and his apprentice 4 new female dwarves as well. The warriors and the females are already finished. The elder is almost finished and the Apprentice is underway, and I also intend to make a new set of armoured semi modulars as well. 4. Good evening all, so I finished these two this morning, that come from an old Ral Partha set called I think Dwarven Steam Cannon, that was resurrected in a recent Ral Partha Kickstarter. I don't have the actual steam cannon, but I do have two of the three dwarves that operate the contraption, which are here: I made them pretty much the same color of uniform, because they are running the same big machine, just varying essentially their hair color. They do both have eyes and they are painted, but they are under those furrowed hairy brows. Here they are together: There is a third engineer, who is actually working, he's got a shovel and he's picking up coal, but that's a figure I just don't happen to be the proud owner of. I'll have to pick that one up one of these days to complete my little trio of dwarves. Remember that these are old school Partha, so they are pretty small sized figures. They probably take up about 1/3 to 1/4 the lead of a modern dwarf these days and are probably about 20 mm tall. I really do like these figures, as they are some of the few non-bellicose figures from that time, no weapons, just working (even though they are running a cannon). Anyhow, simple paint jobs, and I hope you enjoy them!
  5. 12 dwarves that are works in progress. many from Bones 3 some are from previous KS. I bace coated in a orange cause well I had it open at the time. and I like the way flesh looks overtop a orange base coat. I'd say I'm about 1/2 way done on the lot. plan to mount on square 25mm bases advice and critisim welcomed. Kind of regreting not picking up the Dwarf King sub set from Bones 3
  6. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/674003445/resin-rolljordan-necro-and-volmarian-dwarf-fantasy WHAT IS THIS KICKSTARTER ABOUT? This KickStarter is a joint venture between Royal Art Games and Impact! Miniatures to bring two incredible looking metal Fantasy Football teams from Rolljordan into affordable resin for about half the price of the metal teams to give more gamers the opportunity to own these great models. The resin versions of these models will be molded from the re-touched masters that Rolljordan produced to make this a better more pitch-worthy team than when it was first released. The miniatures will be offered in Standard team which have everything you need to have a full team and Deluxe versions that will give you sideline characters (like cheerleaders) and star players. The KickStarter is bringing the Necro Undead and Volmarian Dwarf teams into resin. The KickStarter is also offering the teams from the last joint venture KickStarter at great prices. Here are the team and pack selections for the KickStater. The Deluxe team is the Standard team plus this Deluxe pack The Deluxe team is the Standard team plus this Deluxe pack The Deluxe team is the Standard team plus this Deluxe pack The Deluxe team is the Standard team plus this Deluxe pack The miniatures in the four teams are the new resin that Impact! started using this year that is stronger and able to be painted much easier than our past resin. The miniatures all come with bases and are provided unpainted. The miniatures will require light clean up and some assembly (although many of the models are one piece). Impact! Miniatures has created several KickStarters and delivered to all backers on all our previous KickStarters so bid with confidence. We are keeping this KickStarter small and focused so that we can quickly produce the teams and get them shipped out on time. NOTE on shipping: Shipping options are displayed when you pledge for a reward. Shipping is free to the USA, $5 to Canada and $10 to all other locations.

  8. Project: Captain Redbeard's Pirate Dwarves About this project Avast me hearties! Splice the mainbrace and beat to quarters, that galleon is bilged on her anchor and ripe for the picking! Bring us alongside Gibbs. Boomer, get ready on the gun! Pete my boy, are you loaded? Hefty, Sharktooth, Deadeye, follow me! Gyaaarh! This project is to fund production of a pirate dwarf crew, a set of unique miniatures forming a warband of adventuring buccaneers for skirmish gaming or a unit of mercenary fighters in a larger dwarf army. They are 28mm metal miniatures, sculpted by Mark Evans, who produced all the dwarf sculpts in our previous kickstarter. This time we have decided to offer only one pledge level, with all stretch goals being free additions to the set. If you want multiple sets just increase your pledge amount accordingly. Pledge price includes FREE SHIPPING in the UK and discounted shipping of just £2 for anywhere else worldwide. If successfully funded each backer will receive one each of Captain Redbeard's crew plus any applicable stretch goals- 1. Cap'n Redbeard 2. Bo'sun Gibbs 3. Deadeye Dan 4. Hefty Hawkins 5. Slick Willie 6. Sharktooth Jack 7. Pigwash 8. Little Pete 9. Boomer Svensson and Swivel Gun The Captain himself. As gnarly a swashbucking, treasure-hungry dwarf as you could ever hope to meet. He'll fight anyone and anything if there's a promise of doubloons which makes his crew a useful mercenary force to bolster any dwarf army (just don't pay him in advance). The captain's trusted Bo'sun, often found leading boarding parties or manning the ship when the captain takes a raiding party ashore. His aim is as good with his axe as with his pistol, as many an enemy has found out Avast behind! The crew will often mutter about hefty, but not within earshot of him. If you have a door to kick down, a bear to wrestle or a sandwich to eat, he's your man. The general opinion among the crew is the Willie fancies himself, with his goatee, ponytail and feather in his hat, he cares a bit too much about his appearance. Sharktooth is just a thorough git, a complete thug with a pair of wicked short knives that earned him his nickname. Rumour has it that Pigwash was once captain of his own ship, nobody knows for sure and nobody likes to ask because of that big axe he carries around. The smallest of the crew, some say he's overcompensating but with his blunderbuss he can clear a deck or blow a dwarf sized hole in a city gate. He's got you covered, the swivel gun is small enough that the crew will often take it ashore for some extra firepower.

I don't know why I'm even posting this. Beagle doesn't even stop by here anymore, but here's a link to another Dwarven Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/durginpaintforge/the-iron-crows-and-other-dwarves-of-kazhuk-izril/description I only wish that bearded chubby men with large noses were as popular in the real world as they are on Kickstarter.
  10. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gydran/the-elsor-varo-28mm-sci-fi-space-dwarf-miniatures?ref=category_newest We have a set of 28mm Science Fiction Dwarves in heavy armour that we want to bring to you, our backers.
  11. A new set of Dwarven Musketeer miniatures produced by Gary Price. I backed his first Kickstarter and they were a real treat. Great sculpts, nicely cast, and very characterful.
  12. Lost Kingdom Miniatures designs, presents and produces 28mm fantasy miniatures, using high quality resin, with enough detail and personality to rediscover them again and again. This project started out as my twist to the conventional drift, thanks to your feedback, it also ended up being yours. Thank you all. https://igg.me/at/LKMagmhorinRealm/x
  13. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2076383099/dark-dwarves We are looking to put the following new miniatures into production. Now that is a lot of new miniatures to add to the existing range below. See the next post of mine down Each pledge level gives you a number of pack options to chose from. The packs and their contents are listed below. see the next post of mine down they've run a couple of previous KS projects that look to have fulfilled ok (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2076383099/macrocosm-the-next-races/posts/1529690, https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2076383099/balls/comments) and were very friendly when I chatted with them at the UK Games Expo this year so if you like the look of the dwarves this seems a safe bet
  14. So here are my last in a series of umpteen dwarves. This last set I think I got a little lazy with as I gave them more or less the same colors of capes, but it's kind of a blue and red color scheme I've been trying to hold on to any way. Anyway, hope you enjoy them!
  15. So here are my latest three figures, from the old 3-Stage Player Character line and ones that were also included in the dwarven forces for Ral Partha's latest Kickstarter. I thought of doing them as the same character progressively in his career, but didn't quite end up that way, even though I thought I gave the most experienced of the three in the plate mail a bushy white beard! Anyhoos, enjoy! Long live old school!
  16. So with only a few hours to go in the Ral Partha Chaos War Kickstarter, here are the last few dwarves I was able to finish before it comes to an end. I still have a few (eight or so) pending to paint, but I'll get to those as soon as I can. I tried keeping somewhat with the original blue and red theme I was tasked with, and I realize I should have probably put a design on that big blue shield, but just ran out of time. I also wonder if I should have given that guy some eybrows. Believe it or not, that figure has eyes, you just can't see them at that angle. Anyhow, hope you enjoy and if you ever thought you wanted some of these the Kickstarter is still open for about two hours..
  17. Hi all, so two more of those grand old Ral Partha dwarves, just finished that up last night. This time I've got a hornblower and a drummer getting geared up and going either to war or a concert, not sure which. Anyhow, their Kickstarter is going on right now, so feel free to show some love for some great, classic figures!
  18. The next set of Dwarves I recently painted from Hammer and Forge, the Barbarians, Pelters, and Dragonslayers. The Legendary Dragonslayer may have the coolest cloak ever.
  19. Last of tonight's uploads, the more stereotypical Dwarves of Ganesha Games' "Hammer and Forge" Kickstarter. Oh, yeah, and a Weremole. The Dwarf Thief is my favorite of their sculpts, he's got a lot of character and a classic pose.
  20. Hi again, still working on more Ral Partha dwarves, and here are my last two additions, two dwarves with axes, but one kind of a barbarian feel, decked out in furs and a bit of scale mail, and the other one more of a rank and file dwarf, kind of skinny and in a coat of chainmail. I'm enjoying painting these dwarves actually, as it keeps torturing me with different armors and keeps me working on the NMM. The barbarian dwarf was kind of interesting in that I could get the white of his eyes on the left eye in, but couldn't reach it for a pupil, as he's got these big, shaggy eyebrows. Made it a bit challenging, but I don't think it's very noticeable, especially at these angles and the other eye was very easy to do and reach.
  21. So here are two more dwarves from Ral Partha's old Fantasy Collectors Series that will eventually be in the next Ral Partha Kickstarter, hopefully coming out sometime this month. A crossbowman and a spearman, nice little figures. Like the last ones I did, they are really pretty small. The square bases they find themselves upon are 20 mm bases.
  22. Hi again everybody! So my last little chunk of miniatures, another quartet, is a group of miniatures that will be re-released under the Chaos Wars Kickstarter guise in the near future at Ral Partha. Their next Kickstarter will highlight dwarves and undead, as well as a nice assortment of new and old figures, one of which is a new 25 mm scale Vampire Queen from Julie Guthrie which is just beautiful. So anyhoos, here they are! I added three different views of the dwarf with the mattock/pick and shield because he's kind of interesting from all angles with his pose. The other three are pretty straight forward. I should also mention that I took these photos with my new iPhone 6S, which really did end up turning out a lot better than my little Canon.
  23. A group of unusual Dwarfs. They're all by Reaper, except for the Hunter, who is an old Warhammer Dwarf Adventurer.
  24. Hi all, I painted a while back the ruins and the dragon Nathavarr from "Dragons don't share 2" but never posted it as I wanted to have the whole set painted, including all the heroes, before doing so. So far, I still haven't touched the heroes yet... But while playing "pretend" with the kids, we started making a little scenery using DDS2 and a lots of dwarves I had around (some Reapers and old GW), all this while listening to "Diggy Diggy Hole". We had a great time and I thought the result was fun enough to take pictures and post. The whole model is coated with a thick layer of clear coat to withstand playtime with the kids, but this gave a weird blue hue to the stonework... The hardest part was to move the whole thing into my light box without having all minis fall over (most of them still did)... and manage to fit the model on the backdrop (the whole DDS2 scenery and the dragon wingspan is huge). So here it is: And Nathavarr by him (or her)self:
