  1. The time has come. The stars are right. The planets align. GenCon is nearly upon us. And so the great Iymrith rises upon the Mountain peak. As Eldritch Lingtning ignites the cloudy skies and strikes the very Mountain Peak around her! She prepares for her journey to the great Gladiator Pits in a distant place known only as Indy. Where bands of skilled and Mighty warriors shall fight for her amusement, in the faint hopes to win her favor. She hopes not to be dissappointed, yet again. ----- Whew. This took me so very far out of my comfort zone! A real Trophy Style Base, LED Lighting Effects, Using Pine Bark Chips, Scraping off most of the Yellow Clear "Paint" I put on the Bolts, ect. BUT, she is done! And She Looks FREAKING AMAZING! Now to just put the finishing touches on the last couple prizes, and I'm done with this project! Anywho, Let me know what you think of her. Please tell me You like her and think I did a good job and that I did not just waste about a month on this for nothing. GF

    DDM Prizes for GenCon 2018

So I'm going to be repainting some D&D Minis for the DDM Guild's Prize support at GenCon 2018. Just really got started last night, but progress is progress. Sorry about the crappy phone picture. So, I'm gonna be keeping track of my progress here. My deadline is the first full weekend of July, the 8th or so. As I'll need to mail them to someone who is actually attending:( GF

    Ral Partha 11-436: Frost Giant

Here is an old frost giant I got in a collection my high school friends gave me. I’ve painted him up to look Viking-ish, as I think that was Gary Gygax’s original conception. The snow consistency is not right. I’d like it to be fluffy and smooth. Need practice...
  4. Howdy, She's from Cloud Nine... Kev! P.S. She's not big boned, she's fluffy! P.P.S the tags are acting weird... limit 4, no caps? P.P.P.S It's cotton ball material on the base

    Frost Giant Queen

Finally finished her. boy, that blue skin was tricky and I’m still not entirely happy, but considering how much time I spent on her I feel pretty good.
  6. I’ve been working on this guy for months, off and on. Finally pushed him through to completion last night. I hope you like him.
  7. These are the first figures I painted after lurking around here for a few months. Think they came out well.

    Frost Giant 77544

Almost done... Just the snow and some painting details... Really liked the model, and is 1 of the main reasons I backed bones 3...the posture was tough, I liked that a lot. One of my first serious attempt of NMM, very happy with it. Unfortunately Tha backside if the axe is better than the front.... A well... Hope u like. Edit: icicles are from train-model building sets. Translucent plastic, and I sprayed a bit of white on the base of the icicle.
  9. Frulla Krung The Frost Giantess Frulla Krung was chosen as the next project by popular vote on the forums. The miniature was sculpted by Sandra Garrity and the base was composed of a piece of slate, sand, ballast, and bark. You can see for yourself in the WIP post. The miniature is depicted as a frost giant so I gave her blue skin and instead of a classic blond look as most seem to get, I decided to keep hers dark blue. For the eyes I went with a bright grey iris to make them creepy, intense and stand out. She's clothed in the latest fashion of yellow fur trimming a classic leather bikini top and loincloth bottom. Her "Ugg" boots are wrapped with leather thongs and she likes a fur bracer. She's sporting a tribal necklace of teeth but with a pendant to match the bracelet on her arm. Her other accessory? The family battleaxe. A classic double headed axe with some amazing filigree work on the flat of the head. She'll claim a few heads with it next go around with the humans below. Her ancestral home is high within the mountains and thus covered in snow, ice and hoarfrost. Here she is ... Frulla Krung, the Frost Giantess! Enjoy. Check her out in the Inspiration Gallery. Ogre with Handbag

It's not a purse. It's European! Sometimes, one simply must bring a snack when going clubbing. It works up quite the appetite. This Ogre's snack however is quite literally finger-licking good.

    A Well-Hydrated Ogre-Mage

"Remember that just because I'm blue does not mean I'm made of water. All that squashing of adventurers into Tiny bits can definitely bring out one's thirst. That's why I drink Ogre-Aid(tm) from my shot glasses made from the skulls of my enemies! It slakes my thirst and restores electrolytes, but without all those nasty carbs. Do you think I got this ripped drinking colas?" :-)

    77591: Frost Giant King

Hello fellow miniature painters! This is my first attempt at painting a r̶e̶s̶i̶n̶ Bonesium miniature model. My local miniature hobby shop was holding a painters' meet-up and the subject was anything humanoid or figurine. I bought the Frost Giant King and got my paint scheme and inspiration from KingMob's painted Frost Giant King. I think I did an okay-ish job, although no where as good as KingMob or other experienced painters here. Also the sword and spear are bent. Gonna try to straighten it by softening in boiling water and quenching in ice water. I bought a couple more Reaper Minis and hope to complete them some time soon.
  15. For your consideration, I offer you the Frost Giant King from the Bones 3 Kickstarter. He is the pair to the Frost Giant Queen and I am not disappointed in the sculpt. This miniature (bigature?) is packed with details and a metric-ton of space to paint and practice textures. The level of detail for Bones miniatures continues to impress me. The King and Queen were both primed with Krylon and sealed with Dull Cote and neither exhibits tackiness. The bits that stick out - like the butt of the spear - did rub off when I handled it during painting. I really had to work my way from the inside out to paint this big guy. The fur textures on the fur cape was an enjoyable ride. I look forward to seeing what others do with this team of Giants, and I'm eyeballing the release schedule for the Frost Giant Guards. I recommend purchasing the Royalty as soon as they are available. Gratitude for all who participated in the WiP thread. Your enthusiasm kept me going. #respect #gratitude I hope you enjoy. :)

    Fire Giant Warrior 77178

I painted this fire giant over the last few days. I had some grand plans on making this guy really unique: lighter skin to make it look like old charcoal or ash, a gold sword, bright and intense glowing from those balls and chains on his belt. Needless to say, those plans changed greatly during execution. The light skin tone made him look like a zombie, the ball and chain looked like scrambled eggs, and I didn't even bother with a gold sword. This is one I really wish I had done a Work In Progress post to ask for advice on getting those ideas to really pop on the figure. He ended up pretty generic, but at least a generic fire giant still looks pretty cool. I'm hoping to retry some of my wild ideas on a different fire giant in the future, and I will definitely have a WIP post to help me along the way. Critiques and advice are welcome and appreciated! Thank you!
  17. As I stated, I am working on a lot of projects involving the various Joten Horde I command and so I managed to acquire this one on Black Friday at my FLGS, Millennium, in Rochester, NY. Wizkids :: Troll :: Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures™ This appears to be a direct response to Reaper's Bones line. It comes pre-primed with Vallejo Grey Primer and that wafer thin base AND the integral base. As you can see this is a classic Dungeons & Dragons portrayal of a troll. I've always enjoyed this kind and have a couple of classic trolls from TSR in the same vein. As I mentioned, I above, he came with a really thin base to put him on and the integral base. Wasn't a fan of either so I cut the integral base right off and glue him to a piece of shale to add some weight to the miniature. I also glued that to a architectural tile sample. Then added some bark. One piece to represent a log coming from below the rock he's standing on and the rest to increase the uneven terrain feeling. I added the course and fine sand to give the whole thing some texture. Afterward, I sealed the whole base with a quick coating of Testors Dullcote and then primed it by hand with some Reaper Grey Primer. Some points about the model... It says high-definition and it certainly seems to be of very good detail. You can see a nice definition with the knuckles and veins on his hands and wrist. That said, what annoys me is the mold line through his left cheek and his hair. The rest of them are in the usual spots, along his chest sides and either side of his limbs. The price point for the Bones Trolls compared to this troll at the store ($5) are roughly the same. I look forward to adding him to the crew and I think I might continue my Abomination style skin on him that I used for the Mountain Troll, The Skull Collector. Enjoy and Stay Tuned!
  18. I'm participating in the Thanksgiving paint challenge. Here's my first figure. I really wanted to do better with the gems and her crown. There's a large seam line through her hair from side to side. I thought I should get some 22 gauge copper wire and create a circlet for her to hide it. The white fur on the edge of her armor isn't wonderful either. So much to learn! I've run out of steam on the figure so that will have to wait for later. Thanks for looking 77162: Yephima, Female Cloud Giant

    Yephima, Female Cloud Giant (77162)

This one is actually an older paint job of mine, but she's one of my favorites. C&C welcome and appreciated! ~Lindsay
  20. This is a scale question. Specifically on the big guys in the back. When I had started roughing out the wireform and slapping a little base putty on them, I had the idea of Trolls in armor. Now that I'm looking at them compared to some reaper conversions, I'm thinking they might end up having to be giants, demons, or something else. What do you think would fit for those figs at the scale they are? Prefer DnD themes if you think Troll wouldnt work. Also, open to weird fantasy creatures as long as they fit the scale and are tall and wirey. These aren't for any game/encounter in particular, I just enjoy making stuff. L to R, - WIP necromancer and ghouls I'd started scratchbuilding before they got shelved. Looking forward to getting back into those. - Big guys in back are undecided - An old barbarian conversion WIP from a reaper bones - Recent child scratchbuild - My warg rider conversion WIP from a Reaper Bones (which has it's own post here) - and I believe this was a Warhammer Chaos figure that I had added tentacles to an painted about a decade ago.

    Blood Rage Fire Giant

This was my first paid commission. The paint scheme wasn't mine, I was given a photo to copy and I don't know whose work to credit in that respect. However, I'm happy with the result (as was my customer). C&C welcome and appreciated! ~Magenta

Reaper Bones 3 Frost Giant Queen

Howdy all, Dmagamus here. Sat down yesterday and painted this lovely lady up in one long sitting. If you'll allow me a moment to gush, I wrapped up a campaign last night that has spanned from level 1 to 20 and lasted nearly 3 years. I need a giant spellcaster for the final fight, and I wanted it to look pretty good, so I put a pretty fair amount of time into it. I think it came out pretty well.
