Kemvar are the third of the starter factions I've painted for MERCS: Recon. They come in the Assassination Protocol starter. Unlike the first 2 factions I painted where I just painted the 5 figures that come in the starter, for Kemvar I also dug out the Spy, Monkeywrench and Sniper, who were stretch goals in the Kickstarter. As with the other factions, these guys are just tabletop, and the bases are kept simple for board game play. If I ever get around to playing the full tabletop skirmish game I might go back and redo the bases.... Here's the pics. (I'm still getting used to taking pics with the light arch and new backgrounds, these look a little bright....) The Leader. The Heavy. The Monkeywrench. The Shock Trooper. The Sniper. The Spy. The Assassin. The Engineer. Here's an example of the published colour scheme. Hmm, should have looked at that when doing the assassin's blade...might need to redo that.....
Since I was snowed in this weekend I decided to get a start on painting the first wave of stuff from the mercs recon kickstarter. so a quick overview first. There's EU inc, who I assembled but haven't started to paint yet. Then there's Kezai Waza, who are not entirely primed yet. CCC is partly painted. There's also a mountain of secfor. 5 copies each of these 4 sculpts. The men are all primed, and the shotgun guys have their base colors the shotgun women are all unprimed except for the one in the photo, because they kind of have a bad case of no nose. Havent decided if I want to try and sculpt noses back on like I did in this picture, or if I just want to do head swaps last of all there's my favorite group Kemvar. I started with these and they're clearly a lot further along than the others. I am mostly sticking to the official colors except I changed the glow from blue to pink/purple. The heavy with his crazy twin guns. Still needs a lot of shading. The Engineer, a little further along, but still needs some work. The Leader and his sword. He needs more highlights on his green, and on the sword. The assassin. He's pretty close to done, may just neaten up a few panel lines. I also took a picture of him next to his metal counterpart. It really made the transition to plastic pretty well. The shocktrooper here is the reason I started on Kemvar first. She's just such an odd mini I wanted to get started on her.
