  1. @Guildensternwas my assigned recipient for the Summer paint exchange. She likes CAV and 40k and all these things I don't know anything about! I thought @robinh had made a mistake in his assignments until I saw that she likes mouseling! Ok, mouselings are something I like to paint. I went to my stash of mouselings. Yes, I have a stash of mouselings. Doesn't everyone? I hadn't ever painted the prince snd princess before so decided I would paint them. I have no idea where the idea to turn a toilet paper roll and Tropicana lids into a tower came from but there it was, the idea for Ratpunzel was born. It was fun to make, paint, and put all the flowers on. So, without further ado.... Ratpunzel! Ratpunzel! Let down your tail!

Proof-of-life post. Terrible paint job on a great mini, but it's done. Thanks for witnessing.

    77591: Frost Giant King

Hello fellow miniature painters! This is my first attempt at painting a r̶e̶s̶i̶n̶ Bonesium miniature model. My local miniature hobby shop was holding a painters' meet-up and the subject was anything humanoid or figurine. I bought the Frost Giant King and got my paint scheme and inspiration from KingMob's painted Frost Giant King. I think I did an okay-ish job, although no where as good as KingMob or other experienced painters here. Also the sword and spear are bent. Gonna try to straighten it by softening in boiling water and quenching in ice water. I bought a couple more Reaper Minis and hope to complete them some time soon.
  4. For your consideration, I offer you the Frost Giant King from the Bones 3 Kickstarter. He is the pair to the Frost Giant Queen and I am not disappointed in the sculpt. This miniature (bigature?) is packed with details and a metric-ton of space to paint and practice textures. The level of detail for Bones miniatures continues to impress me. The King and Queen were both primed with Krylon and sealed with Dull Cote and neither exhibits tackiness. The bits that stick out - like the butt of the spear - did rub off when I handled it during painting. I really had to work my way from the inside out to paint this big guy. The fur textures on the fur cape was an enjoyable ride. I look forward to seeing what others do with this team of Giants, and I'm eyeballing the release schedule for the Frost Giant Guards. I recommend purchasing the Royalty as soon as they are available. Gratitude for all who participated in the WiP thread. Your enthusiasm kept me going. #respect #gratitude I hope you enjoy. :)

More work on getting my groove back. I've never really attempted an aged bronze, and I really enjoyed the gemstones.

    Mushroom King and Men - 03041 & 77345

I consider this more of a mushroom family. King, Queen and Prince/Princess. I finished a King a year or two ago. Finally finished the rest of the group.

    Frost Giant King WIP

Update on the Frost Giant King. Cheers to the recommendation on Bases to replace the GW base! I have a slew of baes now for my projects. Plus this base is so much better. I hope to add more embellishment like rocks to match the Queen after I get this chap sorted. So many smooth surfaces asking for textures. Leather texture after the inner cloak is done. The spear shaft wood.grain has to wait until the end as the butt of the spear continues to be worn off during painting. The sword will be a session work in-and-of itself. Enjoy!

Dwarf King on Throne Bones III

This one took awhile, since I basically had to paint the throne all over again when I decided to try the granite look. My first attempt, got a little runny but practice makes perfect.

    Dwarf King WIP

Felt like something different last night and started putting paint on this guy. Gave him a snowy owl and polar bear pelt
  12. As I head into the final few figures left of my Bones 1 Kickstarter blog painting challenge, this past weekend I finished up Boerogg Blackrime, Frost Giant Jarl. (Though in the Kickstarter he was labeled as the Ice Giant King). Just 4 more figures to paint from my entire Bones 1 purchase. For his full painting article, see: Frost Giant And here is is with his queen. I painted her almost two years ago.

Ral Partha King of the Realm

Hello again everybody, got this one finished last night. Not quite so sure about the quality of of the photos, but when they are shrunk down to 500 x 500 they look a lot better. Also with him holding up that sword it takes up so much space in the photo itself that everything looks a bit smaller than I'd want it to. Oh well. In any case, this is the King of the Realm, a figure from Dennis Mize that originally came in a package of kings from different genres. There was this guy, http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/images/b/b2/03-005_D.JPG then another one that I painted previously, http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Image:03-006_front.JPG then an African warrior king and an oriental mage. There was then also a corresponding pack of ladies from the same set of genres, another one of which I'd recently painted. Anyhoos, this one is the barbarian king archetype: and he had a big, empty, round shield so tried to put a dragon on it: So hoping he came out okay.
  14. The small gaming community that got it's first two legs early last year is starting to flourish over here. :) Gathered a few people for DnD 5th. edition, too, now. I've made myself a Warlock. He will be drawing his strength from a Great Old One, only referred to as the King in Yellow. ^^ Guess what book his pact of the tome is inspired from. Hint: It's bound in human flesh, and inked in blood..

  16. Really just gave him a decent weapon. I think he looks the part.:
  17. Had this guy around for a while. Painted him at a local store gathering today: https://youtu.be/lSyov5YTpKo?t=46s
  18. I have a three year old little girl (she'll soon be four) and she has a good imagination. Naturally, we'd like to steer this in the right direction, so I've been GMing once a week with my family. Right now it is just a homebrew system that we're keeping quite simple. We'll be moving up as we go. Our first hero is Drella. Her character class is definitely Princess, and while her normal tactic is to use either Scorching Ray or Magic Missile, she also tends to pull a sword out of hammer space when things get rough. And this is Ella, my wife's spellcaster. She's very helpful on adventures Last is Prince McGuffin. He mostly gets kidnapped by ogres, sorcerers, dragons and such. Our heroes have noted his aptitude for being captured, and have started keeping him from going out by himself for any reason. Last time our heroes sallied forth, they started out by locking him in a closet until they come back. I expected this campaign to mostly feel standard (we kill the monsters, save the prince and everyone is happy). But then my little girl realized that some of the monsters can talk- and if they can talk, they can be talked into doing things for them. My favorite was when they convinced an ogre that the dragon would be tastier than eating them, so he came along (all the time threatening to become too bored or hungry and start eating the party). Here are the three of them together.
  19. Hey folks! Finally finished the last Kobold on the shelf of prep, and I tried a few new things on him, so in my opinion, he is the best of the Tribe that I have done. (It's Good to be The King!) He was finished up with wet blending and layering, so a large improvement over my older style of base coat, wash, mid tone, high light. He is also the first figure that I did work with my new Scale 75 Metallic golds, and new Raphael brushes, so tools and techniques changed in the painting of this guy. His scepter and crown were done with all 4 gold shades from the Metal 'N Alchemy Gold set, and they are something else! The orb in the scepter, and any gems were given 2 coats of water effect to spice them up. Forget who posted that trick on one of their minis, but thanks! Pics: His left eye is very strange, as far as I can tell, it is designed and sculpted that way. Not many images of this figure in any search I tried that showed that side of the fig... I tried to paint it as if it was enlarged and infected with some disease... So I used a deeper yellow than the norm, no pupil, and a couple of light light grey glazes to try and make it look cloudy / catarachted... Comments welcome! 8) George Now the Kobolds are talking back!!!! It's all Buglips' fault....
  20. I got married on Saturday! Here we are looking far happier than is probably healthy. My wife and I decided that we would have our own homemade cake for our wedding, with her baking and decorating it and me painting up a cake topper. Recipies were trialled, decorating techniques were researched, and the end result was pretty great: And of course, the reason I'm posting in Show Off, is the cake topper featuring King Angus and Queen Shanon: I'm quite happy with the result. The base is from Iron Halo, who were incidentally the only company I found that made a 100mm round base, but also happened to make it in an appropriate design. I'll leave you with a shot of the wedding party (yes, me and my groomsmen have personalised Judge badges and yes, I would have bought whole Judge outfits for all of us if I could have afforded it).

    60075: King Castruccio Irovetti

So, another mini painted for my friend. This one was requested for his PC, that was about to become a king....or wasn't he? We will never know, as he died trying....the same day when I delivered this miniature to him....must be cursed. But he can still use it as paperweight. I used this picture as reference: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/bloodinthewater/images/d/d5/Irovetti.png/revision/latest?cb=20130521224311
  23. Fat King Robert Baratheon from Dark Sword Miniatures. I'm really pleased with how he turned out. It's actually the mini I'm most pleased with in quite a while.

    60075: King Castruccio Irovetti

Finally painted another Reaper figure after far too long, my WIP thread of him is available here Wish I could've done something to make the patterning on his 'skirt' stand out, but apart from that I'm fairly happy with him. Comments and criticisms are, as always, greatly appreciated.

    Dwarf King's Court Follow Up

This post is a follow-up to A Pair of Very Old Dwarfs and a Very Old Gnome. The best I could come up with for a size comparison was a work-in-progress conversion of a current GW plastic Dwarf warrior model. As you can see, they are pretty similar in size, but the overly-muscled design of the newer dwarfs makes the King look quite the shrimp! I've also included a picture including the newly-finished Queen Asabelle Dragonsmiter, and a group shot of the completed Court-to-date. Thanks for looking!
