  1. Lich with Wand by Otherworld Miniatures. The more I look at this guy, the more it seems like he is trying to fence with that wand. "En Garde!"
  2. Woke up this morning at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. Decided to spend some time before going off to work painting up the Demi-Lich from Bones II.
  3. I know I'm not following the guidelines by entering more than one mini per thread, but there's a theme to these. I'll take more chocolate to the next con and beg for forgiveness then. First up, Lurien 03170 Next, Spirits 03298 Now a mini I picked up at the paint and take at Origins, Sorrow from Malefaux: And some Zombiecide, well, zombies. The models were shiny when I go them already primed at the paint and take at Origins, and painting did not do much to knock it down. And finally an Iron Wind Metals mini to go with the zomibes: Not as many models this year, but I did get some nice ones in my order from Reaper today, so maybe a better showing next year. Happy Halloween! Bonus mini, 77352 Demi-Lich. Not really happy with this one. One interesting thing to note, though. There seems to be more than one skeleton on the base...
  4. A trio of powerful Undead from Reaper, finished up with some other Undead encounters intended for Frostgrave games. The group: The Lich King (Barrow Warden Mystic) The Giant Skeleton (or should it be Skeleton Giant) And the Colossal Skeleton, so powerful he's busted through the dungeon ceiling (or backdrop, at least)
  5. Another fellow who doesn't really go with any of my other recently completed minis, the Dwarf Lich King from Ganesha Games "Hammer and Forge" for "Song of Blades and Heroes" He's slightly converted, with his Freddy Kreuger glove replaced with a more generic casting hand, ripped from a Mantic Zombie.
  6. Showing off all the things I've painted recently (over the weekend, actually). As a note, none of them have finished bases - I'll do the bases later. Here's the Darksteel Knight (reaper, bones, 77148), and the Mithril Knight (reaper, bones, 77023). With the Mithril Knight, I'm not sure if he's "done" or not... I was thinking about darkening his sword's steel to make it stand out a little more (he looks almost too "washed out"), and perhaps adding some pale blue filigree to his armor... And maybe a thin coat of pearlizing stuff to his everything to really try to add to the "mithril" effect. Here's my Frost Lich (reaper, bones, 77280) and my Shadowmancer (reaper, bones, 77285). I really like how the shadowmancer turned out, and the "blue" effect on the frost lich seems to work okay - but he just doesn't seem "perfect" somehow. Maybe later I'll learn to do some better "glow" effects. Who doesn't love Mr. Bones? (reaper, bones, 77360) I love this jumping spider. I painted her after a jumping spider that I found on my back door. (reaper, bones, 77126) I want a lot more of this figure to paint, I could have a lot of fun making different colors of spider. Meet Mrs. Beatrice. She's apparently from a game called "Zombicide". I love her.
  7. I've not posted anything here for the last month or so as I've been working on a commission, which I thought I would share here. The minis are from the past & present & are by various manufacturers. I extended the integral metal bases out to the edge of the plastic rim with Milliput & did some light texturing on it, the Frost Giant has Army Painter snow flock on top. The Blight Lord's base was done using Basius's "Dungeon" stamp pad & green stuff. Dark Sword Minis Male Elf Ranger DSM-7105 Ral Partha Frost Giant 01-057 Reaper Minis Brand Male Barbarian 02529 Reaper Minis Townsfolk VII Clergy 02950 Rebel Minis Blight Lord RFF0209 Off The Wall Armies Swordfish Fighter GCC17-2183 C & C's are always welcome, thanks for looking!
  8. And now, by request, I present a lich with a flaming skull. Flavor Text: After the cultists opened the rift, and were promptly eaten, all manner of strange beast came though. Most fearsome were the Liches, commanders of the undead. The fed from the fresh battlegrounds and quickly the Rebels and Redcoats formed an easy peace to take on this new threat.
  9. Hello again friends, below is my vision for the new Moandain, Arch Lich. Not a huge fan of the name, but I loved the concept of the sculpt when I got it in my hands. A great opportunity to work on OSL painting. He was painted with all Reaper MSP and a Reaper Round#1 brush. I realize that he's a tad on the audacious side with respect to color but after all the bugbears I've been painting, I felt like letting this lich get his nobility on. Plus, I liked the idea of his emerging from the crypt and his color changing as his form regained a solid state; perhaps his phylactery has just reached a full reboot. I tried increasing the brightness of the photos better so as to get chaosscorpion off my back for a change.
  10. So here's my Lich, all painted up and ready to strike terror into the hearts of my Pathfinder group!
  11. Been painting a lot of my sculpts and not paying enough attention to the piles of albino Bones still waiting for paint. So I guess it's time to change that. Tried to make the base look somewhat like fresh ash; not sure if I succeeded. Painting magical fire was a lot of fun; getting rid of mold lines not as fun. All in all, I think it went decent for a tabletop level job. PS: Also, I read somewhere that the unofficial Bones II SKUs are not accurate. Is there an official policy for how to tag unreleased Bones? I could have sworn I saw it somewhere on the forums, but I don't recall where.
  12. Here's the first of my high level undead I received in my latest shipment of minis, the Dark Heaven Bones Lich. I primed it in Reaper brown liner and dry-brushed the chest, face, and hands then added some spectral green (Reaper spectral white mixed with Reaper viper green). I'm working on him while the Greenstuff on my Worm that Walks project cures. Apologies for the bad lighting. My camera's flash pretty much washed out the green. I'll attempt to get a better pic uploaded. Edit: Added a close-up in front of the Ghoulie bag paints wall. I think the green showed up much better in this one: I'm going to be doing a series of these for use in the future Pathfinder campaign. I've got Ghost King (77161), Whispering Tyrant (89031), and Moandain, Arch Lich (03725) to do as well. I'm probably going to be using this green mix for all of them if it turns out well. Edit: Show-off thread - http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/64964-undead-lords-1-lich/
  13. I was doing home remodeling and was self-exiled from my home and paint desk for over two months, so when I got access to my hobby room and paint desk and reorganized, I collected all my unfinished projects on the desk and realized my shelf of shame had grown to unacceptable proportions. I decided to tackle finishing as many of these pieces just to get them off my desk before I move on, even if I speed paint them or cut steps, but I am tired of looking at too many primed-only or part painted minis. So here is the first wave: Mashaaf which was my favorite to paint among these, the bones mummy lich I had nearly finished six months ago, which was nice except had too soft details on the face, the Scibor elven ruins, Mega Miniatures pack mules I base coated two years ago, and some GriffinTamer terrain pieces. These are not my best work by far but I'm going to call them done for now to get them off my desk and maybe some day I will go back and add some more finishing touches.
  14. For Christmas I received the new revamped plastic Nagash kit! Originally, the plan was to assemble him and then finish off a few outstanding projects (like my poor forgotten Storm Knight) before I started painting him, unfortunately:- He was a lot bigger than I expected, and there's nowhere I can safely store his parts, so he has bullied his way to the front of my painting queue. A couple of days work and:- His fancy cape thingy is finally undercoated. Not using my my usual White Primer because it doesn't like hard plastic too much and there is a lot of hard plastic to cover here. A couple more days and:- I'm making progress on the basecoats. The Hexed Lichen section is done, but I think the Royal Blue section needs another coat. I still have the Andrea Blue and Pure White sections to good though and then (hopefully) the sections can be blended together.
  15. This weekend I completed the Mummy Lich from the Bones I "Who's Your Mummy" set. This wraps up that set for me, and next week I will be starting on the Heroes set. For the full painting step-by-step, see my Bones Painting blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2015/06/mummy-lich-figure-158-of-265.html
  16. This fellow will get a new weapon from somewhere most likely, but the model itself is really great. :) Wight hero for Warhammer.
  17. The latest off the Bones piles are, well, animated bones! First of the Undead Horde we have the Shambling Dead.
  18. I was on a roll so I managed to finish another one. Nothing fancy, brown/grey + quickshade for the hull and some more attention directed to the eye and teeth. Easy paintjob with a pleasing result :) And the Beholder Lich as a bonus (I finished this two weeks ago)!
  19. Lot of fun painting this one. He appeared to be a lost and corrupted king, very sad story. So I wanted him to have more of a royal look to him and gave him yellow/gold and purple which for some reason I always think of when I picture royalty. Hope you enjoy. :)
