  1. So I've long wanted a unique hover tank/APC to go with all my NOVA Corp figures, and last night I was suddenly inspired to create one. Here are my results so far: This is just the left half of the lower hull. Once I finish detailing it with the things I want to be symmetrical, I will mirror it, and then add additional detailing, and a turret. I'm creating this in Fusion 360, and from there I'll export it for printing on my 3d printer. I have no idea if I'll ever get around to painting it, as I still don't have my NOVA Corp soldiers painted beyond a base coat, though. We'll have to wait and see.

    Kristof65s Tycho AFV

OK, since the sculpting part of my Tycho AFV is done, I'm continuing the rest of the build here. If you want to see the modeling and printing portion of the Tycho, go here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/77726-tycho-afv-for-my-nova-corp-soldiers-wip/ I'm building this vehicle as a light tank for use with my NOVA Corp soldiers. First off, if you haven't read the sculpting thread, here's what the Tycho looks like. The 80010 NOVA Corp Sgt standing next to it has just been selected as the tank commander: I haven't been designing models for 3d Printing for very long, but I have already gotten in the habit of creating my designs to use small pilot holes and small pieces of raw filament to align and pin pieces together: I basically glue the filament in one side, and trim to fit into the other side. Then test fit, and glue. The two turret halves went together the same way. Unfortunately for him, my NOVA Sgt had to sacrifice his legs to become a tank commander. However, it's much easier for him to fit in his tank this way: Next up was the first round of sanding. As you can see, the print has lots of ridges. The camera really magnifies them, though - they're actually 0.15 mm apart, and they feel a lot smoother than they look. After the first bit of sanding, I did some gap filling, and filled in a couple of holes I decided not to use because they got support material stuck in them. Next up will be a light sanding of the filler (Pro-Create) and then a coat of automotive spray primer, followed by more sanding. And here's what it looked like when I called it for the evening:
  3. I've been on a bit of a Sci-Fi kick recently, so I'm going to be converting and painting up the Bones version of the Nova Corp troops. The original head on this guy has a horrible mold line, so I swapped it with a GW Dark Eldar. Nothing wrong with her head, I just don't like having a bunch of clones, so I'll be giving her a bare head. With new head (from GW Wood Elves). These are the same figure. The one on the left has the head from the female trooper added. The one on the right is the original head; as you can see the detail is lousy, so it got cut off. The head/helmet with the lousy detail from the guy above is now hanging on her belt. These guys have some extra equipment added. One of the guys from above is going to become a sniper. And his rifle, courtesy of a GW Tau. That's all for now, but I have a few more conversions to do before painting starts.
  4. Also done over the Memorial Day weekend, I discovered one simple thing: Black armor is hard. Styled after the elite Nova Troopers from Star Wars whose armor Is black with gold accents. It's more grey-ish because he's in bright sunlight. That's my story and I'm sticking to it
  5. Last Stand on the Icaria Plains This diorama was created for use in the Spaceship Superstar contest. Minis used are 80009: Rex, Dark Future Hero, 80010: Nova Corp:Sgt, 80011: Nova Corp:Guard, 80015: Nova Corp:Rifleman, and the discontinued Bones Ellen Stone, Cowgirl. A short WIP is here.
