    Sir Forscale x2!

I painted up two Sirs Forscale for ReaperBryan's competition: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69934-sir-forscale-painting-competition/ The first one was Sir Forscale the Shiny, Captain of the Papal Guard! (the official colors of the Papal Guard are dark green and gold, as per SpacePope Bryan) WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/70343-sir-forscale-the-shiny-wip/ I had some fun messing around with all of the camera settings on my phone, and figured out how to set the focus manually. The result is that the pictures came out sharper than I've ever managed before! The downside, though, is that every tiny flaw is magnified; the metallic paint does NOT look that rough in person, lol. Also, the gloss sealer I put on the shield is hiding the lovely blending I did on it. Ah well. It's visible in my WIP thread at least. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D
  2. I've finally decided to get my boot in gear and paint up my submission to Reaperbryan's Sir Forscale competition: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69934-sir-forscale-painting-competition/ I'll be painting him up in the traditional Papal Guard colors of dark green and gold, using mostly metallics because SHINY. First set of pictures! EDIT: I can't get my pictures to work; apparently, Google Photos killed Picasa web albums for good sometime earlier this week. Have this picture of a cat instead while I try to get it figured out. EDIT EDIT: I've found a truly grotesque workaround for now, which I've used for these first two pics. Further pictures in this thread will have to wait until I work out something better. His tabard and glove are all Reaper paints, starting with Rich Green and highlighting through various combinations of Rich Green, Christmas Wreath, Grass Green and Clear Green, in that order. Before the final Clear Green highlight, I did a Grass Green wash to tie it all together. I may do one final highlight to really make it look nice, but it's decent as-is. The gold edging is P3 Solid Gold, and it is SO SHINY YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA. I mean, uh, hey look at that awesome NMM I totally did. Yeah. Huzzah! --OneBoot :D
  3. So... been keeping this secret but bah... join my madness!! Link to the contest So, I ordered my Garrick the Bold and boiled and straightened and froze and boiled and straightened and froze and boiled and straightened and froze and gave up straightening the sword and cut it off. WHACK! And... what to do... what to do... THAT'S IT! *rummage* *rummage* *rummage* Found it! Grab snippers. *snip!* And thus it begins... Then more putty, and after the okay by ReaperBryan, expansion of the base for stability. Presenting: Sir *BONK!*Scale! Tonight priming will be done. Will need to use two kinds because of the various materials. Special thanks to Froggy for his inspiration. A gift from him years ago.
  4. I started this little guy on a Saturday. At a paint day. At a certain factory... This is where he got to in about 4 hours worth of work. Need to finish the sword. The lad at the factory store went in the back and dug through bins to find one with a nice, straight, unbent sword. So, I figured this one ought to be left stock and unconverted.
  5. Hey, all... I was wondering if anyone had a current estimate on how long it's taking Reaper to go through the "help" emails, and correct issues. The reason I ask is that I sent an email to them last Saturday (24th of August) letting them know that my Cthulhu came with two right arms, and no left, and I have yet to hear anything from them in regards to receiving the email, or getting a replacement, etc. I realize they probably have a fair few emails to go through, so am I jumping the gun if I send another email? Or have I somehow been missed out? Any ideas? -Vilegrimm
  6. Since the description of the Reaper General forum states it's the place to gush about Reaper, let me gush. First my thanks to ReaperBryan and ReaperShannon for making my trip down to Seattle possible! It was a very real pleasure meeting and working with them and all the other volunteers from the forums and elsewhere. A chance of meeting the Reaperfolks was not something on my radar as little as a couple of weeks ago, so getting to talk and spend as much time as I did with them was really something pretty special. They really are as nice as people who have met them previously had described them and I'm quite happy for them that the Reaper booth had the success that it had at this years PAX. Now here's a pic of Bryan letting Darsc wear "The Hat". A wide pic of the room containing the "Paint and Take" and the Reaper store. Of course all the Bones were available for sale.
