    Repainted WOTC Combat Medic (cleric)

This is a repainted prepaint of a WOTC Dungeons and Dragons figure. I kept the paint scheme mostly the same since I liked it, but I tried to a do a better job. She's got a decent table top paint job now, I hope. I did her to get back into painting after being in a bit of a slump when I lost my job earlier this year. Ahe's actually been done for a while, I've just been bad about taking pictures. Anyway, I hope you like her.
  2. The time has come. The stars are right. The planets align. GenCon is nearly upon us. And so the great Iymrith rises upon the Mountain peak. As Eldritch Lingtning ignites the cloudy skies and strikes the very Mountain Peak around her! She prepares for her journey to the great Gladiator Pits in a distant place known only as Indy. Where bands of skilled and Mighty warriors shall fight for her amusement, in the faint hopes to win her favor. She hopes not to be dissappointed, yet again. ----- Whew. This took me so very far out of my comfort zone! A real Trophy Style Base, LED Lighting Effects, Using Pine Bark Chips, Scraping off most of the Yellow Clear "Paint" I put on the Bolts, ect. BUT, she is done! And She Looks FREAKING AMAZING! Now to just put the finishing touches on the last couple prizes, and I'm done with this project! Anywho, Let me know what you think of her. Please tell me You like her and think I did a good job and that I did not just waste about a month on this for nothing. GF

  4. This is an old Mage Knight figure that I slightly converted and repainted. He was holding a comically undersized flail in his left hand, so I cut it off and replaced it with a halberd from an old GW Chaos Warrior I had in my bits box. After that, it was just a matter of repainting him for use on the tabletop. He'll make an interesting BBEG in some game I haven't created yet. Thanks for looking.
  5. Hello guys. Warming up the hand for my upcoming seminar in Madrid, did a "test" piece on this PEZ pills dispenser. I enjoy bringing toys to life through paint, and enjoyed the challenge of this sub-optimal scult by "hobby busts" standards. I was not aiming at perfect blends or anything, more about conceptually displaying contrast, both tonal and color. Enjoy. C&C welcomed. Original stock pic, for reference: ...and I found this guy as well at the kiosk a couple weeks back, so I know what my "next" test piece is gonna be... Now if I can only find a Flash one

    WotC Lich repaint

This is a re-paint of one of Wizards of the Coast's pre-painted plastic D&D miniatures. According to the information moulded under the base, it's a Lich Necromancer. I tried to get his cloak looking like a fairly freshly flayed skin, though with fairly limited success. WotC's pre-painted miniatures are extremely variable in quality, both in sculpting and in painting. This isn't one of their best in either respect, but neither is it one of their worst.
  9. So guys. I repainted an old D&D mini, in the process learning that it is kinda rare I guess lol..oops! She looks pretty badass if I say so myself! But yeah! This sculpt is awesome and was super fun to paint. My husband runs a couple D&D games, I play in one every other week that is a MONSTER campaign and it is so fun! So in honor of tonight's game night, I wanted to share her! I play a Ranger Drider, this is her! (My other party members are a Rogue Gargoyle, Swashbuckler Rogue Mindflayer and a Cleric Shield Guardian, I can post those minis too, if ya'll like) I used some mystery reaper samples for some base coats and Folkart brand Coloshift paints for accent and omg, this stuff is awesome. I can get it for about $4 a bottle (2 oz bottles) here in Central NY. It is really cool to work with and semi translucent so I was able to layer and manipulate the tones. I wish I could really capture the scintillating nature of these paints! Hope you love her as much as I do and no one hates me for repainting an old classic, hard to find mini! lol Thanks! C&C welcome!
  10. Under the Repaint & Rebuild column, we have the Ral Partha Frost Giant, 11-436. A classic version of the Frost Giant for Ral Partha's AD&D line back in the day. Amusingly, I was rather proud of this paint job back in the day. I cut the base out of thick clear plastic and then edged it with a rotary tool. Mixed snow, sand painted white and such to cover the large integral base and painted him up. However, on his way to an early days Finger Lakes Paint Day, he and a few other minis got unceremoniously dropped on the floor in their container. They weren't individually contained. They were just pulled from the shelf, loosely wrapped in paper towels to keep them bouncing off each other and taken in to show off. However, I didn't get out the door before my elbow bumped something and wham, down they went. The Frost Giant comes apart at the waist and the shield comes off. Naturally he came apart at the waist and in my heart sunk condition I shelved the whole box and didn't touch it again until recently. So, I dipped him, cleaned him and re-based him yesterday at paint day. With one distinct difference in the base ... The ice sheet of his old base is now the ice sheet sitting on top of water on top of his new base. The base is one of the 2-inch tile squares I use a lot with a 1-inch plastic tile holding up the old base: I used Golden Heavy Gel with no coloring as the water between the top and the bottom bases after painting the lower base with an aqua/sea blue I mixed from Warpaint Hydra Blue and Reaper Ultramarine Blue. I added a skull floating/hanging in the ice/water near the front of the base to add SKULLZ for my buddy @ub3r_n3rd because ... SKULLZ!! I painted that up on a stick beforehand and used part of the stick to help plant the skull in the gel after I had "cooked" it to set a bit. Speaking of cooking it. I improvised a low-heat method to "bake" the mini all day after assembly: All lights are energy efficient but still generate a lot of heat using the metal shades and the direct contact of the bulb under him. Last night when the gel had contracted a lot, I added more gel to fill the gaps back to the edges of the tile. Here's a close up of the skull. I also sprayed the giant later last night after masking off the base. I am back in the office today to do a little work and paint. So he's back on the lamps "baking" the gel. Upcoming: Ice ... I am going to use the crackle effect I got from Ub3r to create a cragged, icy appearance on the plastic base and bring it level with the integral base to a degree. The plastic base will be painted an icy blue to show through the cracks. Gloves and Sleeves ... I painted his hands as gloves last time to avoid messing with full blue skin. However, this time I plan to add more blue to him. Whether the blue will be in the form of bare hands or bare arms I am unsure. More Water ... as the latest gel contracts I will likely have to add more gel to get it level again towards the edges. I expect should give me some nice edges within the water to look through. Shield ... gonna put some more effort into the shield this time and paint a device on it. Part of the reason I left it off. Stay tuned and Enjoy!

    Repainted Mage Knight Tree Spirit

I forget exactly what this figure is called, but it's another old Mage Knight figure that I have repainted. I think it would work well as a (small) evil treant. I'd have to go through the Monster Manual, but I'm sure that there are other plant monsters this would work as, too. Tabletop paint job as usual. ETA---Forgot to mention, this is part of my Morihalda challenge (do art every day in December).
  12. This is an old mage knight figure I stripped (yes, it is possible. Not easy, but possible. It's also not always worth the time and energy involved) and then repainted. Painted to table top. Let me know what you think. Better view of the base. Yes, it's got eyes, and they're painted!

    Repaint of an old figure

So I'm thinking I'm going to be repainting this old figure that I have another copy and here is my question. Should I repaint with the original paint scheme or should I do something totally different? No wrong or right answer, just looking for opinions.

    Repainted Heroclix Secret Agent

This is a Heroclix figure (Lex Corp Security if you're interested) that i got out of a Box of Goodwill. She was a quick and easy repaint, I liked the colors they used, so I just fixed them up so they weren't slopped all over each other. I figure she'll work well in modern, zombie, and possibly near future/ sci-fi games as a secret agent or something like that. I tried to paint her sunglasses to look as though they were reflecting the sky; does it work or does it look lousy? Be honest, please.
  15. It's me again! After my semi-successful bout with the DDM Baaz Draconian, I decided to pick out another victim subject to experiment some more techniques and paints on. Aaaand let's see what's behind Door Number Two!: What we have here are two DDM Harbinger set Skeletons. The one on the left is for reference, while the one on the right has already been primed. Not a bad lot for what it was used for, but they completely missed the paint on the face of the latter one. Though they're interesting figures, for skeletons they look a bit too.......shiny. Sure, they could be newly stripped corpses, but what's the likelihood of that? And why would you keep perfectly good armour on such easily destroyed mooks? Let's see if we can make him look as neglected as those miniatures on your Shelf of Shame!

    02127 :: Giant Mountain Troll

Giant Mountain Troll The Old Troll and the Boar I cleaned, repaired and repainted a long time baddy from our gaming sessions, Reaper's Giant Mountain Troll. He had fallen to the floor a few times over the years and had a gloss coat instead of a matte coat for a sealer. So he was quite due for the treatment. Given his look and feel, I decided to paint him as an older troll. His skin is duller. His hair receding considerably. He hasn't fought anyone in a long time. Even the boar for his dinner wasn't much of a hunt. So he's kept his clothing in relatively good repair and found and made some better furs to wear. He still prefers his old stone axe. He was happy to find some stone laced with mithral to make a new axe head for it though. You can check out the WIP post to see everything I did to get him here. WIP The ol'boy will return to the carry case to stand before those pesky fellas from yonder cities and protect his mountain or wherever he gets plopped down. Enjoy. Check him out in the Inspiration Gallery. (Approved) Added to Thrym's Index of Reaper Miniatures & Thrym's General Show Off List
  17. My long time generic bad guy, the Giant Mountain Troll by Sandra Garrity, came out of the carry box to get cleaned, repainted, and repaired. His nose suffered a long drop to the floor flattened his bulbous nose considerably. Here's his stock photo from the catalog: Here he is with his paint cleaned off with Simple Green double dip and his nose filed back to sort of bulbous. Since he was well and truly beat down, I decided to make him my next piece with Lunkh being finished and the Hellborn Troll being mostly done. Stay tuned.

    Repainted Mage Knight orc

Another old Mage Knight orc figure that I converted a while ago (WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60174-mage-knight-orcs-conversionrepaint/?hl=%2Bmage+%2Bknight+%2Borcs) and finally finished up painting during the paint binge last weekend. Nothing special, just a tabletop paint job; he'll get used along with his buddies in a Song of Blades and Heroes warband, as well as for D&D.
  19. Started my repaint of the HeroClix Frost Warrior for D&D Tabletop Frost Giant Warrior. The HeroClix base was taken apart and I canted him forward a bit more for his final pose. Then added bark around him to increase his base and used the original base. I will be adding sand, cork bits and other ballast to fill in gaps around the base.

    Mage Knight werebat

This is a speed painted repaint of an old Mage knight figure; I think it was the 'feral bloodsucker'. It looked like a werebat to me, so that's what he became. I did the figure in perhaps an hour and a half (not including basing, lotta glue and different materials there). I just painted right over the original paint job (there wasn't really much there to begin with). I did this guy while I was waiting for some green stuff to dry on a different project. Please let me know what you think.

    Yuan-Ti Pureblood (repainted DDM)

This a Dungeons and Dragons prepainted miniature that I have repainted. I kept the colors close to what the figure originally came with from the factory, I just tried to neaten things up. I have no idea why she had purple hair, but I went with it. Maybe it's the whole 'dangerous/poisonous things are brightly colored in nature' thing? I used a lot of different things on the base; I wanted her to look like she was moving through an area of swamp/jungle. Tabletop paint job; I figure she'll look pretty good as the leader of a snake/lizard themed warband for song of Blades and Heroes. C&C is always welcome.

    Rasputin--Hero Clix repaint

This is an old hero-clix figure that I acquired somewhere along the line. It's supposed to be Rasputin, but I figured he had 'evil cultist' written all over him. He was fairly quick to paint; all I did was touch up the (sloppy) factory paintjob and change the color of the pentagram and dragon on his chest. The base was carved/sculpted to look like a castle/dungeon floor. He's done to table top, as usual. Let me know what you think. Front: No back shot; it's a black robe. This is a slightly better shot of his base.
  23. This is an old mage knight figure; it's an 'Amazon Mancatcher'. I've got a couple more copies of this one that will all be converted eventually. She's armed with an absolutely ridiculous weapon; I cut that off and re-armed her with a trident from the bits box; I figured that with the net in her other hand, she'd make an interesting gladiator. The base is supposed to be sand, does it look alright? Table top paint job; let me know what you think, please.

    Repainted DDM Ogre Ravager

This is a DDM prepainted figure, the Ogre Ravager that I repainted. The only thing I changed was to cut off all the blood drops that were on the axe blade and his leg. I painted him last weekend during Inarah's paint binge. The stone with the runes on it is a press mold I made of part a resin base to add a little detail to the base. Front: Back: Close up of face and axe; I tried to go for a rusty look to the weapon.
  25. A few quick repaints. I'm quite pleased with how the gnoll turned out with such little effort. Barghest Savagers (the photo is to bright but the minis aren't important enough for me to fix it :) Gnoll Barbarian Wolf Spiders
