Gatormen and Bog Trogs from Widower's Wood

Here are the minis that I painted up for my Widower's Wood set. I've always loved Gatormen, and these minis were all loads of fun. One thing to note is that Widower's Wood makes use of the different colored plastic used for the minis. If you paint them up, you need to have a way to tell them apart. I've seen people paint the bases in bright colors, or paint the whole minis in red or blue, but I prefer a more subtle approach. There are marks on the bases that I painted in red or blue, and I found places on the minis to express these colors as well (feathers, or the fade on the back fins and such). Well, here they are:
  2. Hi all! Just recently finished painting my first Ral Partha figure: a heavy-armored warrior and a pretty dragon! Getting the pieces to fit together was a bit of a hassle (maybe it was a bad mould?), but after I got that sorted out I decided to go to with a classic blue dragon look. Look at those chompers!!! Used MSP Dragon Blue (29815) for the scales and wings, Sparkling Blue (09104) for the plate scales on the spine, and a mix of the Blonde Triad for the belly scales, horns, and wings. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this one. Certainly earned a display place on my desk.

    Crowley's Medusa

As November's Hangout Figure of the Month, we picked Medusa 77037/02833. Now, because of boobs, I can't share most of my pics of her. However you can see them at my blog: Part 1 Part 2 At this point I just need to touch up a few spots, flock the base, and she's done!

    Avukavli Snake Demon

Here is one I did last week and I thought I would put it on here, I searched around at other attempts at it and decided to have a stab at it. I don't know if I should have censored this because her top half is naked but I did see that it looks like the moderator removes the image if it is not okay. Apologies if there is any offence. I found this figure really hard to do as there was lots going on with bangles and arms plus I have no idea how to do scales. I have next to no idea about highlighting as you can tell and I am just learning through trial and error so here goes. ( oh and the face got too much for me in the end as it this stage in my painting eyes are virtually impossible ! :) )

    02716: Demonic Lasher

Here it is: the dreaded Demogorgon... This was the first larger scale mini I painted. It was a lot of fun, especially watching it come alive with a wash on the furry and scaley bits. Enjoy! As always, tips and suggestions are welcome. :) -E.E.

    77191 Reaper Bones Hydra

Greetings! I've had this Reaper Bones Hydra (77191) sitting around for quite a while now, waiting for me to pluck up the will & time to paint it. I'm quite a slow painter by nature & I had set myself a rule that where all my present & future Bones minis are concerned, I wasn't going to worry about removing mould lines (I love Bones but I find this particular job is a nightmare!) or going into too much painting detail but this all fell by the wayside in the end! Anyway, here it is. Following the Hydra's mythology, I've gone with aquatic colours, the base was created using Basius's Dungeon base stamp, I made a point of putting one foot lower on the steps as the front legs were a bit uneven (even after the hot & cold water torture method!). Comments & critiques are always welcome, thanks for looking!

    Scales

Anyone have any advice on how to paint scales? I have a smaller dragon figure and I'm trying to paint the scales. However, it's not looking all that great... So some advice would be great!!!
