  1. Since I didn't have enough project already... Here is a little something on the side.. Dee Dee Astro Girl. Also starring The Bones Eye Beast who will reluctantly donate it's eyestalks..
  2. Sometimes inspiration strikes and you start fiddling around with an idea without really planning it. This is my second ever piece of terrain, and first one in about 20 years (did a paper towel tube bunker in my teens). Started off with some packaging material, and decided I would make a garage. That then turned into a workshop, and then kept growing. Somewhere I decided that this would be the cyberpunk equivalent to a wizard's tower, by being the home of some sort of technomagus. Also when I paint it, will make more sense with the wizard reference (hint: yellow bricks at the garage entrance and an Oz themed mural on garage door.) Early WIP pics in second comment. First two pics are from when I first started amd it was still going to be just a garage. Third through fifth images are when I started getting the wizard tower idea wth it.
  3. RIP Jerry Pournelle

Evidently Jerry Pournelle passed away two days ago at home. I quite enjoyed reading his books when I was younger. I may have to go and break a few favorites out of storage.
  4. MERCS: Recon - Kemvar Squad

Kemvar are the third of the starter factions I've painted for MERCS: Recon. They come in the Assassination Protocol starter. Unlike the first 2 factions I painted where I just painted the 5 figures that come in the starter, for Kemvar I also dug out the Spy, Monkeywrench and Sniper, who were stretch goals in the Kickstarter. As with the other factions, these guys are just tabletop, and the bases are kept simple for board game play. If I ever get around to playing the full tabletop skirmish game I might go back and redo the bases.... Here's the pics. (I'm still getting used to taking pics with the light arch and new backgrounds, these look a little bright....) The Leader. The Heavy. The Monkeywrench. The Shock Trooper. The Sniper. The Spy. The Assassin. The Engineer. Here's an example of the published colour scheme. Hmm, should have looked at that when doing the assassin's blade...might need to redo that.....

  9. Kickstarter is Live and has reached the initial funding level: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/star-saga-the-sci-fi-dungeon-crawler?ref=nav_search From the Mantic Newsletter: "Star Saga: The Eiras Contract will see players guide a team of space mercenaries on a mission to retrieve stolen data plans from a research facility orbiting a far-off alien world. Players will take on platoons of minions, powerful alien bosses and be forced to make difficult choices as the story takes unexpected twists and turns. The spiritual sequel to Dungeon Saga, Star Saga introduces newly improved and stronger rulesets, 'learn as you go' rules for new players and, more detailed, advanced mechanics for seasoned gamers." If it wasn't for Mantics long history of fulfilment issues/delays/changes I'd be tempted by this. It sounds like the game I've been waiting for. Instead I'll likely just keep an eye on the Kickstarter and consider buying at retail.

  11. 15mm Alien Paint n take

This was another mini I did at Odyssey con in April. I don't remember the company any more even though the Paint n take people told me who it was. He's from Micropanzer Very quick simple tabletop job. He'll fill in for many small multi-armed creatures of weird origins. possibly the most useful paint n take.
  12. Infinity Joan of Arc

Another one that I finished back in May. I have to say she is one of my favorites that I have done. I wanted to do a twist on her typical color scheme of blue armor, red cloth, and blonde hair so I went with white armor, blue cloth, and red hair. It was a gamble but I am so happy with how the white armor turned out. Also her sword was my first attempt at NMM since I first tried it a few years ago. There are definitely areas that needed more work but I finished her about 5 hours before leaving for a convention and I needed sleep. In my mind, she was definitely a level up paint job for me. At the convention she got 2nd place in SciFi Single and Judges Choice.

  14. Armored Core RTS

Armored Coreâ„¢ RTS is a real time strategy board game where all players pilot mechs, fire weapons, activate equipment and direct support troops simultaneously. This new system captures the speed of the video games in a smooth, accurate and action-packed flow that's compressed into a series of 20 minute missions. This officially licensed version of Armored Coreâ„¢ has been designed to be fast to setup, fast to teach and fast to play. Featuring unique components like LED pointers built into each miniature's base to provide instantaneous line of sight as well as physical buildings to provide cover and a rooftop level. Between the 20 minute missions, players spend their hard-earned rewards on upgrading their mechs and equipment. Construct your mech according to your play-style and team role. Over the course of the campaign teams will strive to accomplish objectives for their faction in order to become the ultimate Ravens.
  15. WIP 1/60th Despot tank

About this model: The 1/60 Despot was designed and built by John Bear Ross, under license from Reaper, back around 2003 in a limited run. I don't remember the exact number but I want to say there were only 100 made. It is a combination of resin and metal parts and requires quite a bit of assembly before I can start painting. The tank treads look to be the most difficult part. Before anything more, I want to say that Mike Hardy (aka Black Lightning 2 back in the day) is awesome! I couldn't afford to buy one of these limited edition models when they were released, but several years ago Mike needed to clear out some space and contacted me to see if I was interested in buying his Despot. He could have sold it for a lot of money on eBay, but he wanted it to go to someone who'd appreciate it. I jumped at the chance to finally get one of these, but when it arrived I was simply overwhelmed. I loved assembling CAVs, but this is a lot bigger, and I've never been much of a painter, so it just sat in its box on a shelf... For eight long years... It's time to fix that. I can't get links to my Google Photos account to work here, so I'm just uploading a few pics for now. If anyone knows how to get those working, please let me know. The first pic is of all the parts laid out in their glory. (I took these photos w/my cellphone, which is turning everything yellow under the florescents. Once I actually start painting, I'll break out my camera to get better photos.) Followed by all a closer shot of all the resin pieces, then the metal pieces. And finally what she will kinda look like once she's all put together. And here's a link to the Google Photos album where I have even more pics: https://photos.google.com/album/AF1QipOp9xyRL5EtNEU00011Q62fvi72OWjS80VgCPB2
  16. Part of getting back into painting after such a long absence involved painting figures that I found to be pure fun. As I greatly enjoy painting Pulp I decided to put together a team that used a mix of figures from Reaper and Counterblast. Reaper figures are so versatile, they can mix well with just about anything out there. Reaper figure #50129 sculpted by Patrick Keith Counterblast figure, sculpted by Patrick Keith Counterblast figure, sculpted by Patrick Keith Reaper figure, #59041, sculpted by Bob Ridolfi Counterblast figure, sculpted by Patrick Keith Patrick is one of my favourite sculptors as his work has so much character. Further, he's done so much work with Reaper, he's like Reaper Family to me. Thank you for looking.
  17. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1835446295/global-defence-forces-15mm-sci-fi-tabletop-miniatu 4 Welcome citizen! The world government has fallen! It falls to us to raise an army to protect and fight for our peace, democracy and freedom! Enlist and support the Global Defence Forces. Join today! At Slap Miniatures we're seeking the funds to hand craft a new range of 15mm (1/100) scale figures, with the retail copies cast as whole finished pieces in high quality pewter. There are two sets of figures on offer, both containing one piece pewter castings of 30 individually posed figures. So with your help in bringing this kickstarter to life there will be 60 uniquely posed figures to choose from. I feel this is important, making every soldier in your table top army look and feel like an individual. The most common soldier in all armies is the humble rifleman, so I've created 30 individually posed riflemen. Furthermore there will also be 30 individually posed 'specialists' to bolster the rifleman. Amongst the specialists there will be 6 different types of soldier armed with differing weaponry. 5 Rocket troopers, 5 Communication troopers, 5 grenadiers, 5 assault troopers, 5 snipers and 5 machine gunners. I've already made 1 of each of the 6 different types of specialists so you can see what they look like, with the rest to be made during the course of the kickstarter. There's also rucksacks available too! Who doesn't like those? Suitable for many 15mm figures I'd just like to explain why I've set the delivery date to July; March: Running the Kickstarter (and attempting to finish specialist figures before the kickstarter is over). April: Will have definitely finished the specialist figures. May: Figures sent off for casting and production. June: Packaging and posting of everyone's pledges. July: A spare month, just in case the moulds don't turn out correctly, figures need remastering or the casters are a little late. As for the Generals pledge, should anyone take one of the three on offer I shouldn't have any difficulty in finishing them when the time comes to ship everyone's pledges. You can probably tell there is a fair bit of leeway for me to finish sending out everyone's rewards. I'd expect to get everything sent out before July. However with the last kickstarter running late I do not wish to dissapoint anyone, including myself

Kickstarter link: http://tinyurl.com/zy9x7oq This looks interesting a tabletop game using a tablet/mobile!, it will be launching on Kickstarter on the 19th February "Lands of Ruin is a post-apocalypse, tabletop wargame. This next generation tabletop game utilises the recent advances in mobile technology to bring a more realistic, faster paced, and deeper gaming experience to the already mature tabletop wargaming genre."* "With the Kickstarter campaign we will produce a line of high quality resin cast 28mm scale miniatures. 19. FTWIMH: The Port Sarai Resistance

Figures by Critical Mass Games with heads from Reaper and Rebel Miniatures, plus sculpted hair. Shuttles by MegaBloks with substantial modification. Each of these characters represents someone specific in The Worlds in my Head, though I'm not yet sure which is which. Included somewhere in there are Torla, Tirsa and Tipra Dunbar, Tirsa's daughter Alii, and Mora. I give you The Port Sarai Resistance:
  20. 80016 Nick Stone

So finally getting my lazy butt to break out the photo booth..1/5 for the July Challenge. I still find DMM my bane (Should really look into shaded metallics) and this figure is completely, not-at-all spun off of Iron Patriot for the July Theme.
  21. Meet Bonnie Futuristic Hero from Reaper's Chronoscope line. Or as I call her, Bonnie babe of the Secret Swedish Beach Patrol. Enjoy.. For those interested in my WIP: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62242-50210-bonnie-futuristic-heroine-by-xherman1964
  22. Lidless Eye Hobbies in the Year 40,000

My most recent painting focus was on some randomish 40k and sci-fi stuff, aimed more at RPGs than wargames. Unfortunately, the crazy heat down here has me tackling my light source, and some shots are better than others. First up are the more individual characters, including a face recently returned to the silver screen:
  23. I have started to paint some big 54mm and 1/6 scale minis. To ensure that I get something finished, I will now start to paint a 28mm too. Here is Bonnie Prepped and based for priming.
  24. The Dino Guy

Hello all! So it's a couple days after ReaperCon, and I had a blast! For my first official after RC, I've chosen to FINALLY paint up the Mounted Dino Rider from Warzone. This was one of the prizes I really wanted to win during the Spaceship Superstar contest put on so generously by Jasper! At any rate, this one should be fast and furious as I want to move on to projects that will push the things I learned at RC. With that said, this prep job took quite a while! LOL! So... nothing super spectacular yet! I should also note that I'm adapting to a Pixel Chromebook, so please excuse any photograph shenanigans that my result! Thanks for looking, and stay tuned for more! -K
  25. So this is the third of 4 TGG minis I've been painting for a friend. I'm a lot more happy with this than the last one. One more to go then I can get back to my own projects.
