  1. Still taking a little break from my other projects, so I'm currently painting random Guild Ball minis, the latest being Farris, ex-knight and master blacksmith:- Hopefully I got all the mold-lines, I did spot the one on her collar after taking these piccys. Got her head painted. Her face is a base of 1:1 Beastly Brown/Dwarf Skin, Brown Shade Wash and then highlights of 1:1 Beastly Brown/Dwarf Skin and 1:1:1 Beastly Brown/Dwarf Skin/Light Skin. And her hair is Leather Brown, shaded with Brown Wash and highlighted with 2:1 Leather Brown/Bonewhite. Next job will likely be painting the underside of her horse (he has a name but I've forgotten it) black. I meant to do that first, but forgot

    Grace and Benediction

Presenting Grace (Leaping lady) and Benediction (Big scary dude), church enforcers in the game of Guild Ball. Had a lot of fun painting this pair, their highly patterned armour came out better than expected, but I think I dialled back the highlights on the purple capes a tad too much. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  3. I know I haven't finished my Hunters Guild set yet, but after prepping my Farmers just to see what the Guild Ball plastic is like, I really wanted to paint them! I've got six farmers and two bits of terrain, I'm starting with the terrain:- The pig doesn't have a name so I shall call him 'Stinky'. The wood posts are a base of Parasite Brown, given drybrushes of Ochre Yellow and Iraqi Sand and a Brown Wash, and the Guild symbol is Bronze with Polished Gold highlights. The metal brackets are Oily Steel with a Black Wash at the moment, they still need highlighting.

    Ulfr

Presenting Ulfr a member of the Hunters Guild from the game Guild Ball, and the last mini from my 'Heralds of the Winters Moon' WIP thread. Fun to paint but surprisingly heavy on my poor old wrists! As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  5. Once again, my carefully laid out painting plans are blown apart by the arrival of shiny new things! In this case it's my new Guildball obsession, and I'm starting with a few members of the Hunters Guild. This is Skatha, her right hand was a bit miscast and tidying it up cost her the tips of several fingers. This is Snow, she was slightly too big for the base provided, so I had to greenstuff the gap around her posing rock. This is Veteren Hearne. Another one who was too big for his base, so he's had to go on a bit of cork. And finally, this is Ulfr. His left arm did not like being attached and resulted in pretty horrible gap:- That needed filling. I did a fairly decent job, but forgot to take a piccy of my handiwork. Overall, impressed by the sculpting, not so much by the casting or design. Now on to the painting:- Decided to start with Hearne. Based his skin with 1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Bronze Fleshtone and gave it a coat of Flesh Wash. My bottle of Bronze Fleshtone is pretty old and had separated badly, so I stopped using it, and instead applied highlights of pure Dwarf Flesh and 1:1 Dwarf Flesh/Light Flesh. He also got Bonewhite Teeth and a 1:1 Scarlett Red/Parasite Brown moustache. I also appear to have got a spot of moustache colour on his lip

    Skatha and Snow

Presenting Skatha (the girl) and Snow (the wolf) two members of the Hunters Guild faction in the game Guild Ball, you can find their WIP thread here. Never ended up completely happy with Skathas hair, but I think the rest of her went okay, and Snow painted up better than I thought she would, so overall I'd call this a success. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    Veteran Hearne

Presenting Veteran Hearne part of the Hunters Guild and my first finished Guild Ball mini! I'm painting up the rest of the set here. Had lots of fun painting this guy, I think I'm going to enjoy working through the Guild Ball range. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    WiP Guildball Masons

So while I was working through my Warmachine backlog, a little game called Guildball caught my eye. I waffled a bit on teams but decided for now that masons were my team, so I'll be painting them up here, hopefully quickly so I can play the game. From left to right, ball, Honour and Harmony, Wrecker the Mascot (not a fancy ball), Granite, Mallet and Chisel.

    Chisel (Guild Ball)

I got lured into buying a Guild Ball team recently, since it's the new hotness around here, doesn't cost very much to get into, and has nice models. Actually, I was just going to pick up Chisel here, but the store was having a 20% sale, which is practically free, so I had to get the rest of the team to support her. Chisel works for the Mason's Guild, thus her name and choice of weapon. Blue is the official color for the Masons, so I decided to keep that theme. Chisel has abilities like "Crazy," "Sadistic," and "Feel My Pain," so I decided to paint her like a crazy Asian girl from some Japanese horror flick or something. As usual, the camera is showing every speck of dust in perfect detail. The bases are the PVC ones from CMoN/Micro Arts Studios. Blood rendered in classic Tamiya Clear Red. Also, I think she kind of looks like an evil Mocha...
