  1. These are the set BFM MLS003 from Bad Squiddo, which I have discovered is called "Vampire Thralls", although in my notes I call them "feral vampires" and I think of them as more unaffiliated vampire pirates or swashbucklers. (Although thinking about it, it would be really difficult to be a vampire pirate, what with the total lack of shade and all.) I painted one of them up blonde, because blonde vampires look extra creepy. There is a WIP thread here. As ever, comments, critiques, and questions are welcome.
  2. So, one of my personal mini projects atm is working on some of the NPCs my players in my homebrew campaign are encountering. And one of my favorite groups in that world are the Hunts - a loose-bound organization of groups (each called a Hunt) of fighters/mercenaries/warriors, each with their own specialty, who dedicated themselves to maintaining the roads and paths of Fidel during the millenia-long anarchy of the Mortal Wars. Now, what makes the Hunts distinctive from any other mercenary bands? Well, they ride BADASS FLYING MOUNTS. Gryphons, for the most part, although one or two specialize in pegasi, and a few ride more esoteric things... Four NPCs intimately intertwined with the group are members of the Red Hunt - a sort of catch-all for powerful, destructive mages. Faukner, her apprentices Formel and Tiercel, and her wife, Charr. So, I've had the Stonehaven Half-Dragon Duelist for ages. It's one of my favorite dragonborn minis, and I decided it'd be perfect for the swashbuckling Charr... It's a great mini, neat and clean with tons of personality. To give you an idea of who Charr is... Anyways, I've decided to do a WIP of this set of minis, starting with Charr's two forms. This is the thread for her humanoid form, obviously - I'm painting up the Temple Dragon for her dragonness form, and I'll try to do a WIP for that, too. So! I started off nice and simple - hit the face with some red, and decided on a blue-and-white scheme for the cloths. I'm trying to bring out some of the swashbuckler in this mini, so I like the naval colors. That said, I could use ideas for the cravat. Ordinarily, I'd paint my dragonborn's hair simularly to her scales and try to ignore it, but gonna go with dark for these dreads. They're sweet as hell. Wish DSM would give us a KS for these. And there's the face, pretty much finished, TBH! I washed it with Games Workshop's purple wash, pretty heavily so it'd sit well in the mouth and scale cracks, and then highlighted just with pure red. This is a proof-of-concept for the temple dragon, as well as a mini on it's own, and I'm pretty happy with it! Used Palimimo Gold for the eyes - something else that'll carry over!

    Spelljammer Characters

Here are some Spelljammer-esque minis that I have been working on. They've been in my collection for many years, so I don't really remember, but I think a few of them are Reaper. Githyanki Rogue Cleric Oriental Sorcerer
  4. I've been hitting a slump in my painting that's been keeping me from these forums for quite a while. I'm trying to regain my rythm and getting some pieces done. This is one of them: Sandru Vhiski from Reaper Pathfinder Miniatures range. I don't really know why I rushed him up the production line. He's somewhat fitting for a character I'm playing in a DnD game, although yet he's not. Perhaps he's a good fit for a future character? Sadly he ended up somewhat flat.

    60148 Sandru Vhiski of Doom

This is Arturo de Montreux, my Pathfinder Society swashbuckler. He is from the devil worshipping nation of Cheliax, and as the 8th son of a minor noble house, he was going to be used to sire half fiends for the rest of his life. That sounded less than desirable, so he abandoned his familial duties and left into the wider world. Having never really seen much in the way of heroism or nobility, he set out to make up for the evil that his family has done. His idea of being a hero is flawed at best, but he tries. For the mini, I went with a pretty basic color scheme, but as he is all about wine, women, and swinging from chandeliers, I wanted to bring a bit of his carefree shenanigans into it. So, I took a few left over Hirst Arts pieces and Balsa wood, made a little bar, and sculpted a cup out of green stuff. The cup is decidedly large, but I doubt he would be complaining.
  6. So In order to participate in the 54mm Challenge. I will start with the Master Series 54mm Pirate Queen, Maria Roseblade. First step, prepping and assembly.

    Kassata Lewynn, Reaper Miniatures

I've recently relized that the end of 2014 is fast approaching and I'm nowhere close to completing my second (and most important) painting goal of 2014: that all 2014 purchases must be finished within 2014 (excluding kickstarters). I've spent most of my (recently dwindling) paint time just working through my quickdip pile and really slacking off the metal pile. But as 2014 moves towards its end I really need to pick up the pace. So here's the Kassata Lewynn by Reaper Miniatures. I finished this miniature to use as my character in an ongoing DnD 5ed game.
  8. Alright! Now I am working on Sandru Vhiski. We'll be using him for the swashbuckler/bard in our DragonLance campaign. I simply ADORE Martin Jones' paint job of him, so I am going to more-or-less be copying it (although not half as well!). 1. Primed! 2. Base colours blocked out with some of the details, etc. I got interrupted tonight, or I would have got a bit more done. Next up is some touch ups, followed by shading and highlighting. And yes, if you look closely you can see chest hair. ;) Current soundtrack is Little Boots.
