  1. Crowley's Almaran the Gold

While I still need to do his base, I finished of this pretty boy.
  2. 14461: Maladorn, Fire Demon

A fire demon for my weekly game. Fun to paint
  3. Whoop WHOOP, first part of the big commission done. They look pretty nice lined up like this I think the customer is gonna be happy!
  4. Bones Balazar, Gnome Summoner

Balazar, the gnome summoner (Reaper 89023) was fun to paint. That mould line running down the side of his hat thing was not that visible when I painted him. Oh well, another one done, yay!
  5. Reaper Bones Succubus

Finally finished this demon chick (Reaper 77281) to decent tabletop stadard. She had been sitting on my bench half painted a long time. Her face had a flash line on one side, so I tried to make it look like a fresh wound.
  6. This thread is something ... different from other works I have been done. I guess it's not entirely in accordance to the board rules, so you may forgive me and accept my humble bundle of roses, choclate and other stuff that will easy your severely upset minds. When I am in the mood, I am doing so many speed builds up to the point of painting (means assembly, basing and priming), that making them all into different threads I would flood the forum with an unnecessary number of threads. So I will keep this limited to the building process of my different tabletop figures, armies and stuff and transfer the finished figures to their respective painting threads. What's on the table at the moment? Warlord Games 16 German Fallschirmjäger 56 Soviet Russians (winter) (making M into F) Creature Caster 1x Tree Walker What's done and ready to be painted? Warlord Games - 2 German Fallschirmjäger - 10 German Panzergrenadiere Mantic Games: Kings of War Succubi Regiment (20 Succubi) CP Models: Diana
  7. 54mm Medievals for Wargames

Last week was a hectic one at work, but I am now finished with an event that took a year to plan. I ended up relaxing with my paintbrush for a little while this weekend. I have had these two guys stalled in my paint queue for a good long while. According to my painting records, the last time I finished a 54 for this project was 2012. The monk on the left is a metal figure from Irregular Miniatures, and is one of a handful of medieval civilians they have. The archer is a plastic toy, a reissue from the molds for the Marx 54mm Robin Hood set, probably sculpted in the early 1960s. They are intended to add a little variety to my 54mm medieval skirmish games, mostly populated by Accurate plastic figures. Here's a shot from a game at Historicon in 2014, to give the idea: I have been considering bringing this to Gencon next year, travel method and hotel permitting, since the 54s show up nicely at a con. After these two, it's back to 25s again for a while, since I have a higher priority project I want to finish up...
  8. Hello everyone, I could use an advice or more some thoughts on something I am working on. I've once again dived headlong right into a new project for someone else. The topic is a pulp style game that is set in an alternate time of the 40s and incorporates some kind of superold cults and stuff. Anyway - I've been task to create a faction consisting of an android species that was originally created by one of the fractions as some kind of statues and then came to life by being merged with a soul. But as metal is a obviously a really unfitting material to merge with souls, those machine lifeforms became something like lost souls. Not they are out for revenge and fight the other factions. I am currently thinking about the colour scheme. As for the bodies, I thought about using sisters of silence from the warhammer universe and equip them with swords, MG 42 and FG 42 light machine guns to make them fit into the whole scenario. As for the faces I wanted to use a more light colour and white hair. I mean - why should androids have got different hair colours? I'd like to have them have red glowing eyes. Like this: And I then I thought of using the YoRHa heavy armor of the NieR Automata franchise as color reference. This is a guild wars 2 mod that gets as close as possible. more picture here: GW Nier Automata Style Armor But now I thought ... maybe thats a bit too dark. I mean - rather dark weapons, dark clothes, dark armor, only a bit of light color on the head and the hair. I am not sure if I'd consider that fitting. I'd like to hear your opinions on that topic.
  9. A good friend of mine since college is playing in a D&D based game that he wanted some winged dragonmen for. This is the first of two conversions I did for him. The base figure is 77060. and the wings came from Troll Slayer Sophie. Sorry, Sophie! These are just to a tabletop standard, as they will be used for gaming.
  10. Continuing on with my Imperial Assault posts. I was really pleased with these Trandoshan. The method from Sorastro really worked well for the skin of these reptilians. All of the skin was painted the same. Then, all 4 had different washes with either a little more blue, green, brown, or sepia than the other. It really shows in the blue and sepia Trandoshan. I will try it out on some of the metal and Bones Reaper Lizardmen I have. I didn't want to paint one of these as Bossk, since Fantasy Flight Games released a Bossk expansion figure. So, I gave one of them a "salvaged" Rebel Fighter Pilot Flight Suit. I was least pleased with the colors of it. It comes out a little to stark in my mind. I also tried to give one a desert camo, and another a snow camo or urban camo. I was most pleased with the outcome of the blue one, so I am giving the detail shots of him. C&C Welcome.
  11. Continuing on with my Imperial Assault posts, here is Chewbacca. Again, I have been following Sorastro's guides. This figure was new for me in the use of multiple layers of dark wash over and over. It was about 5 layers. The pictures show this sort of granular/peculiar highlight. I checked on the model, and it is areas that picked up drybrushing that never toned down well with wash. It's all good. I painted Chewie very quickly. C&C Welcome.
  12. Here is another of my Imperial Assault figures. IG-88. I followed the Sorastro guide, which involved drybrushing, washes, drybrushing, etc. 4 or 5 cycles. Then painting on some forced highlights, then a blue wash on one side and a red one on the other. This was fast, and a little sloppy. But fast. C&C Welcome.
  13. To break up your F5's for the Bones IV Kickstarter... Allow me to present another installment of my Imperial Assault work. I have been following the suggestions from the Sorastro Youtube Guides, but with Reaper Paints. Gideon Argus is a field general. It took a few tries to get a skin tone I was happy with, but I am pleased now. Not too sold on the dust effect on the jacket, but it is what it is. C&C welcome.
  14. Bones Mummy - 77144

Hi guys. I've been away for a long time, but I finally did a quick something to shake off the cobwebs and get putting paint on something again. Just a quick mummy. I started with a thin base of Vallejo Ivory, then Army Painter Strong Tone over everything. I did some highlights with Reaper Stained Ivory, then mixed some Vallejo Ivory in for a lighter shade for higher highlights. Plus of course the detail work, the green eyes and the darker flesh bits. I like the teeth I put at the edges of his mouth. I tried to make his hands bonier and whiter along with some other exposed bones but don`t like how they turned out, I might pull them back a little darker later. I think the gray primer is also showing through the sand on his base but I'm not worried about that.
  15. 77514 - Iron Golem

My daughter wanted to use this fig for upcoming game night. It was a fun paint. I put in about 6 hours on it total. And I concentrated on the parts tjat interested me the most. There is plenty of room for improvement as much of the metal colors have only a base coat.
  16. Update: Many thanks to the mods for their patience with this thread. Future marathon-paint show offs will be handled differently. The 30 days are now done, and I managed to finish at least 5 figures for all of them. After 3 kickstarters I have a HUGE backlog of unpainted Bones minis, so I've set myself a goal of doing 5 minis a day, speed paint, table top standard. Here are the minis for my first three days... Day One: Day Two: Day Three: Days 4 and 5 Days 6 and 7 Days 8, 9, & 10 Days 11 & 12 Days 13, 14, & 15 Days 16-20 Days 21-25 Days 26, 27, & 28 Days 29 & 30 Any marathon show-offs in the future should be done as either as a group post when the marathon is done, or with a seperate show-off thread for each week. I did not realize when I started this thread that editing the main post made more work for the mods. I apologize again for causing the mods extra work. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me through this insanity.
  17. I speed-painted these over two afternoons to be a party of NPC adventurers for an eclectic mash-up of Exalted and the World of Darkness. They are 77322, Kassandra of the Blade (sculpted by Werner Klocke); 77405, Aeris, Female Elf Ranger (sculpted by Julie Guthrie); as-yet unnumbered Mythos figures based on 50032: Jake Ryan, Hero Explorer (sculpted by Bobby Jackson) and the Victorian Lord from the set 50326: Victorian Lord & Dame (sculpted by Bob Ridolfi); and 77409, Flara, Elf Heroine (sculpted by Werner Klocke). WIP thread here.
  18. Expansion sets for the Blood and Plunder tabletop game. Live on Kickstarter. About this project Blood is on the horizon! The iron grip of Iberian Domination is eclipsing the 17th century Caribbean as the world races to seize its spoils. Join the emerging Dutch Republic as it battles for its place among the established European powers or defy foreign incursion as a Darien King in this expansion to Blood and Plunder, No Peace Beyond the Line. No Peace Beyond the Line is the first major expansion for the Blood and Plunder miniatures game. This expansion will revolve around the No Peace Beyond the Line book that will feature: Optional rules for playing games at a greater scale or with more than two players A campaign system Special characters that players will be able to add to units New units and factions for the existing nationalities New nationalities including the Dutch and Native Caribbeans New ships: Piragua, Fluyt and the Galleon! Factions for expanded nationalities such as Danes, Swedes, Prussians, and Portuguese This Kickstarter allows us to raise the funding needed to expand our product line to this scale in a short period of time as opposed to having slow, continuous releases. Firelock Games is excited to have the opportunity to continue expanding the world and timeline of Blood and Plunder in order to create a more exciting and expansive line for its player base.
  19. I have started painting up Mice & Mystics with the intent of playing the game with my six year old...and hopefully my wife. The four year old son is likely to want to loosely participate as well. There are 22 miniatures. So far: primed the roaches and the spider, then hit them with brown liner.
  20. 14564: Kosumi, Frostfang Huntress

This is the mini that I painted for Fanguad for the Spring Exchange. Got it out late due to life interfering and had to be satisfied with a more simple paint job then originally planned. Please excuse the photo quality, I had no time to get everything out to take proper ones.
  21. Zombicide Walk of the Dead 2

I did a quick paint of some game pieces taking up space. I didn't do a WIP but took a few pics during, if people want to see. The cat got one of my fave pieces, the third punk. I didn't have orange paint handy, so I used yellow. The other base colors were ashen blue/rosy skin, and Brown liner. I also tried a flesh wash out of curiosity. Unlike the last set, I remembered blood, but couldn't find the nice dried blood brown color, so not as gory as planned.

  23. Sat down for two hours today to make the time until bones 3 shipment notification go by. Thought I'd try a speed paint of something largish. Wasn't sure if this should have gone in the WIP thread. Not putting it in show off though since it is far from what I would consider done. Still, a fun test of my speed. 2:39 pm about to rip open the bag. 2:51 pm mold lines trimmed, washed, glued to a base. 3:13 pm. Brown linered. Poured too much so a big puppy got some liner too. Had to wait for drying anyway. 3:47 pm. Green hair, off white weapon and other accessories. Eyes. 4:08 pm. Skin. Lots of skin. 4:28 pm. Blue and purple/red cloth and accessories. What, only 10 minutes left? 4:41 copper details. Little leather. Okay, technically a couple minutes over. Would have liked to go for another 20-30 min but I had to run out. mission accomplished? Well, there base could use some attention. And the face. Really all of the skin could use a highlight. And the hair. But I think I'll keep it as is for now to show what I am capable of in two hours. Maybe try this again in a while (there is the male still to do) and see if I get any faster.
  24. Zombicide Amy

I made more progress on my Zombicide Survivors. Here is number 4: Amy. I wasn't comfortable with painting up the fishnets from the artwork, so I went with lite pink. Otherwise I went for close to art work. As with my other models, I went with no blood on the survivors. Only problem is the blade couldn't be straightened perfectly, but she is for gaming, so good enough. Here is Amy: Thanks for looking and any C&C you feel like giving.
  25. MERCS: Recon - Kemvar Squad

Kemvar are the third of the starter factions I've painted for MERCS: Recon. They come in the Assassination Protocol starter. Unlike the first 2 factions I painted where I just painted the 5 figures that come in the starter, for Kemvar I also dug out the Spy, Monkeywrench and Sniper, who were stretch goals in the Kickstarter. As with the other factions, these guys are just tabletop, and the bases are kept simple for board game play. If I ever get around to playing the full tabletop skirmish game I might go back and redo the bases.... Here's the pics. (I'm still getting used to taking pics with the light arch and new backgrounds, these look a little bright....) The Leader. The Heavy. The Monkeywrench. The Shock Trooper. The Sniper. The Spy. The Assassin. The Engineer. Here's an example of the published colour scheme. Hmm, should have looked at that when doing the assassin's blade...might need to redo that.....
