    77270: Spikeshell Warriors

And now for this week's minis, the spikeshell warriors. These guys were painted to tabletop using the same artists paints, but one was over white and the other was over black. The shell patterns are also different, but I ended up liking one more than the other. Thanks for looking.
  2. I decided to get this and paint it for my Mom for Christmas. Arrived like this: Airbrush Primer: Base coated dark green, realized tortoises don't have green shells so went over the shell with sequential layers of Ochre/Burnt Umber mix, followed by ochre several times. Drybrushed dark blue over the skin. Washed the shell with burnt umber, washed just the crevices with a thin black wash. Highlighted the shell with mid yellow, did some speckling of red green and blue on the head and neck. AND then we run into problems, gotta do the eyes. So I do that... And we got one ridiculous looking, Stoned of his gourd tortoise. Please help!
  3. A while ago Malefactus send me some miniatures as a gift to contribute to my Lost World Project. His friend Cpt. John saw it and decided to include this wonderful miniature. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-xherman1964-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/ EUREKA Miniatures 28mm War Turtle ( the Little ones are smaller but they fit right in). Thanks Malefactus and Cpt. John for this amazing gift! I hope I did it proud. I connected a few Tabletop Art Resin bases to create a bigger base for this monster. He is as big as a young tortoise would be in real life! I added a few resin pieces from Ristul's Market too, a centipede and a Saurus Skull, the other stuff was already sculpted on the base. Hope you like it.

    Tortoise Dragon -02516

Painted this for a friend and feel like either I got lucky or subconsciously there is a path I am taking while painting and maybe I have an inkling of what I am doing. I love the shell portion of this sculpt and almost want another just to modify some other model with it. I also really liked the way the underside of him came out. Too bad it is hard to see. I guess I could have glued him shell down first, like something out of a cartoon. The cherub I believe I got from Dark Sword miniatures, a freebie tossed in with an old order. I felt like the Dragon was missing something...treasure. So I painted up the cherub gold and now it has some story/character to the scene. I like the way he turned out, hope you enjoy too.
  5. My merry wrecking squad for February: Inspiration: African Spurred Tortoise (I decided I wanted a little extra color, so he got green skin instead of brown.) Inspiration: Indian Star Tortoise And a shield shell is inspired by the Red Eared Slider

    DARK SWORD TORTOISE CLERIC

The Tortoise Cleric, originally I had a whole story made up for his and his friend's background. In short he carries his Brother's Backshield into battle to avenge him. His Brother was slain by Ogres.
  7. I spent a lot longer than my average time on this delightful mini from Darksword, and I think it shows. I am very happy with him. His little buddy is from Wyrd Miniatures, the swamp accessories pack I think.
