  1. This will be yet another Undead /Demon Army. ( what can I say? I love evil miniatures). This army has an Asian theme. Undead Samurai Oni Asian Dragons Some living Asian Allies. Kirin Hope you will enjoy it. I will paint slowly and it may take a while, but I'm putting this out here to start. Since I backed Zentih's Kensei Undead KS I have a few of the Undead Samurai and Demons waiting I also have the Grenadier Wind Dragon ( alas without the two humans) and the Grenadier Imperial Dragon of the Eleven Celestial Dynasties And some Living Samurai. Also a nice Asian Graveyard Set. Some stuff that has to get painted soon..
  2. I started out with an Egyptian Undead faction in my Lost World but it didn't feel right. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/ After some good advice from @malefactus I decided to move the Eygptians to their own thread. The first one is my Mummy Captain. Now working on a Grenadier Undead Rhino Captive Carrier with a Bones Priestess as Crew
  3. One of my favorite Fantasy races are the Undead, followed by Chaos and Reptilians. I already have my Lost World Project which tells a tale of Conquistadores, Reptilians, Dinosaurs, Undead and a lot more. However those Undead are the Egyptian Style and Pirate/Jungle style. This thread will be filled with my beloved Gothic Undead, Demons, Monsters and all things that go bump in the night. In my Lost World Project I tell an ongoing story, here I will post about all other dark things without coherency. There might be snippets of loose stories to accompany a mini or not... I hope you guys and gals and creatures will like it. Let's kick off with the critters I painted a while ago to get a feel of what is coming. Enjoy! ( or not) Bats and a Murder of Crows EDIT: I will include some Bones and minis. The bulk will be metal and I want to give this an oldschool vibe. Preferred minis will be, Reaper, Grenadier, Ral Partha, Rafm, Metal Magic, Otherworld and Early Citadel. The Asian Undead will be from Zenith since I backed the Kensei Undead Samurai KS and will get their own thread. Eldessa Necromancer Ral Partha Female Vampire Lurien and Aysa Bat Demon
  4. Rictus the Undying..ses!..

I'm happy with how these two came out, and that my phone's camera actually took decent quality pictures! These were fun, easy ones, took no time at all. Being pewter, they do tend to chip, which gets really annoying, but was no big deal to fix. Great designs, good job Reaper! These two will be listed on eBay soon.
  5. Spoooooooky Ghosts!

4 creepy ghosts I painted up real quick. I'm not one for batch painting (too repetitive) but this wasn't too bad at all! Not my best work, but not half bad in my opiniom. I had bought two more, but those are for teaching purposes. All four will be on sale on eBay together.
  6. 77145: Mummy Captain by Glitterwolf

Bones 77145: Mummy Captain. Part of my Lost World Project. WIP Here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=111
  7. Help me fix these skeletons

Hi everyone, I need your help. I feel as if I am at a bit of an impasse. I am currently painting an armed force of ancient skeletons. The primary reasons for taking this project was to practice my OSL on the eyes, and trying my hand at verdigris for the first time. I love how both the skeletons and the ancient metal are coming out. However, I feel as if there is not enough contrast on the models, and when viewing them from tabletop distance, they look too... homogeneous. Do they look "boring" to anyone else? Does anyone else have a suggestion for how to fix them?
  8. These are what I finished painting this year, a year that was somewhat abbreviated by world events. Really, this is what I painted in the last six months, since political dismay kept me from the miniatures table for approximately eight months after the last US Presidential election. This year I painted my first Reaper Warlord figures who were also my first oversized werewolves, 77754 the Rageclaw Slayer, and 77755, Aislinn, Shadow Tracker. Nearly everything I painted was for the White Wolf World of Darkness and Exalted. 9. These are the "Vampire Brides" from Bad Squiddo Games, which last summer came out with a line of Hammer-type horror figures called "My Last Sunrise." They are sculpted by Gus Kearns and were introduced with the tag line "Get married, they said. Best day of your life, they said." WIP thread here.
  10. Skellyman army (wargames factory)

Hi everyone! So looking back at 2017, I am absolutely ashamed to see that I had only completed 5 (five! Only five!) Miniatures this year. Granted, I didn't have access to my painting stuff until April, and had five major life events happen this year both good and bad. The minis I did complete I am very happy with, and I did really push myself to get better and learn some new techniques. I also started about 30 miniatures that have not been finished, so I did more painting than it seems. When looking at my paint desk it has become apparent that I have far, far too many unfinished projects- including a few from more than four years ago. Therefore I have 3 goals for 2018: 1) paint 52 miniatures within the calendar year. Any stand alone miniature counts. 2) of these 52, complete at least one CAV force to bring to reapercon 2018. 3) complete two unfinished miniatures before starting a new miniature. In that vein, I have started my resolution a little early: These are 20 skeletons from wargames factory I assembled and primed this summer, but never finished as I had airbrush problems. Tonight in about 2 hours I blocked them in woodstain brown and began dry brushing with terrah khaki- a nice bone color by the way! My intention is the shade and highlight them, then arm them. I want to use these guys as an excuse to try verdigris... I am very excited to see how it turns out. If i get these guys done I'll already be more than a third of the way to 52 miniatures. Wish me luck and expect more update soon!
  11. Ichabarr, the Headless Horseman

The skeletal horse bases are old GW Tomb Kings models I got off eBay. The human skellie bits are Bones models -- Ichabarr is the headless one, obviously; he was originally a Bones archer skeleton. The bases are original, but I slathered them with Vallejo Thick Mud and covered them with birch seed covers for the leaves of the forest. Overall, I am pleased!
  12. Zombicide:BP NPC's 1 [Picture heavy]

Here is my collection of Zombicide Black Plague Notoriusly Plagued Character volume 1 I've been working on for the past few months. I now am a bit sadened that I didn't get in on the NPC's 2 as well in the KS. I did go with anything to fancy. In fact, I went straight off the artwork. I left off the blood and gore as well, though now that I got some of the Tamiya Clear Red I think I might slowly begin to bloody these up. Lets start with a group shot of the lot. Now a tease with the frisky one of the bunch. Don't get to excited she can be found chaperoned with this rather dour lady. Next up we have a traveler to these parts, who is quite eager to meet you. His traveling companion is a more on the grim side and keeps his enthusiasm in check. Lastly we have a gentlemen that is rather irate that his current return customers. Ah well, there is no pleasing some people Thanks for any C&C you feel inclined to give.
  13. Zombicide Modern Abomination

Well over Minivember I had high hopes of great accomplishments. For me that entailed finishing more than one mini, 30 hopefully. Well, I failed to achieve that. I did however manage to start and finish another Zombicide mini (more actually, but they will be in another post). He was a relatively quick paint for me, and with the idea of table top. I gave the Tamiya Clear Red a try for the blood effects. I like the effect just not execution. Well with out furthur fanfare or words and such, is my Zombicide Abomination. Thanks for any C&C you feel inspired to give.
  14. Whoop WHOOP, first part of the big commission done. They look pretty nice lined up like this I think the customer is gonna be happy!
  15. Yellow Sign Undead

Finished the last of the Yellow Sign faction, got a group pic that I'm gonna upload later but these are the final wave! WIP thread:
  16. Six Reaper Bones

Okay so I dug around in the drawer and pulled out six unpainted bones that I got in my batch that I bought. I gave them all a thorough scrub with a brush and warm soapy water and a toothbrush. The ogre needed straightening up so I poured hot water over to readjust and then under cold to set. I attached all six using superglue to fender washer bases. I got this tip on you tube and have been sticking to it since I started this process. They are running out so I will look for an alternative afterwards. But these are good and solid and make a good base. So now I have to decide which figure to work on.... I have not primed any and up until now I have primed using "151" matt black spray paint. I did not know exactly what to use so I tried this when I began. I did pick up slightly after the photo and start to apply some blue to the Anhurian soldier using the same blue I mixed for a figure I was painting late last night. But without primer it did not seem to want to settle very well. The two figures I have seen painted are by Doctor Faust ; the hell hound and the ogre. Any comments/suggestions or generally helpful advice is gratefully welcomed.
  17. Barrow Warden Lord #03653

More work on getting my groove back. I've never really attempted an aged bronze, and I really enjoyed the gemstones.
  18. Hello fine people (and other assorted things) of the Reaper forum! Continuing in our project of teaming up to show you two different methods to go about painting the same miniature, Buglips and I decided that we would do a WIP thread for Con Crud, Convention Zombie from the 2017 Reapercon swag bag! He's a great little figure, sculpted by Gene Van Horne, that we thought we could have some fun with. This will be our second shared WIP thread in this series of ours, in case you missed it, check out our first one where we painted Thanis the Bonecaller: As with that one, I will be covering my usual method of painting for display, and Buglips will be approaching the figure with his own usual "fast-but-decent method." As with the last one, Buglips' method will be much faster than mine will be and you'll get to see where our two styles diverge. We will be sharing our own issues, thoughts and methods with you in the hopes that someone will find such things useful. So on to the mini! Here's my Con Crud, fresh out of his blister: I prepped him in my usual way, with some diamond files to grind off the mold lines and bit of flash that you can see on his outstretched foot and hand. He has some notable mold lines through his hair and back and down the left (his left) side of his face. I'll show you throughout the process how I'll tackle those. So here he is after I primed him with Reaper's Brush-On Primer in white, thinned down with some water. As usual, I only did one thin coat so as not to obscure the details on him and I took a couple of additional shots from different angles so you can see some of the mold lines that I'll need to work on a little more down the road.
  19. Isabella Von Carstien Diorama - GW

Greetings! I kind of finished this diorama a few years ago but have recently finished it for good with some newly aquired basing materials. I originally bought Isabella Von Carstien just to paint up as a single miniature but as her pose seemed to infer a commanding stance, I decided to expand things into a diorama by giving her an elite skeleton guard to command using a pack of GW skeletons that I had. For the actual terrain, I was inspired by a favourite old Ray Harryhausen film of mine, "The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad" where Sinbad swordfights a skeleton on a spiral staircase (which, famously, doesn't go anywhere!). It's a great scene & I wanted to create a spooky ruined spiral stone staircase for Isabella to lead from. The stonework is made from air-drying clay. I made the staircase by cutting out rolled flat wet clay "cookies" using the plastic cap off a deoderant can to create circles. I then scored lines into each wet "cookie" to create quarters & when dry, I snapped the clay into 4 quarters & tidied them up. I then glued each quarter on top of the last one leaving a eighth of the previous step showing, I repeated this until I got to the required height - I'm very pleased with how this worked out! . I then filled in all gaps between the steps to make them look like they were carved out of the stone & added some sand for texture here & there, I also pencilled in then scored some fish-scale tiles into the base. C & C are always welcome - Thanks for looking!
  20. Nethyrmaul the Undying (77190)

Hi all! Been a bit since I posted anything, so I'm going to spam a few minis that I've completed lately. This was my entry for the Reaper Facebook group dragon contest. He's the largest model I've done to date, and I'm pretty darn proud of him. C&C welcome and greatly appreciated! ~Magenta
  21. Want more WIP threads like this one? Check these out! 01614 Con Crud 02818 Bugbear Warrior 02017 Scorpius Rex Dracus Hello again, friends and neighbours! Several years ago, after the Bones I kickstarter, I made a thread to help people who had just signed up for a ridiculous amount of Bones minis get used to painting and encourage them to just jump right on in! This thread was even more successful than I thought and, much to my astonishment, brings new people to our hobby even today. I thought it was time for a fresh update that might be just as helpful, and maybe give us something to point new people to when they first decide to pick up a brush and become One of Us. Often when new people come by and have no idea where to start, the first general question is: what are your aims and requirements? This basically breaks down to: do you need pieces done for a game, or do you want to paint just to paint? The idea behind this WIP is to give us something to show people the difference in practice. So with the able assistance of Guindyloo, I will be painting Thanis in my usual fast-but-decent method and she will show us how nice things can be when you spend some time on them. There are, of course, many ways to paint a mini so this thread is just an example of our present working methods and by no means serve as the only way to do it, or the final word on the matter. Those of you just joining our hobby may have your own ideas about how to do things, and by all means you should use your own best judgment! All we do here is just give you some things to think about. So on to the mini you came in here to see, and I hope this thread proves useful! Here's my Thanis, fresh from her blister pack:
  22. Lidless Eye Hobbies: Plague Zombies!

Started quite some time ago, before the more copyright-friendly Poxwalkers were introduced; here come the Plague Zombies! It's okay that they're different, Grandfather Nurgle loves us all. Plus, Zombies seem more appropriate for Halloween.
  23. When I got my Bones III Obsidian Crypt I had a little idea. https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/crypt/latest/77637 I put Kaladrax ( now Discontinued) on it. She made it her throne! I also included some pieces of the Bones III Graveyard Set, and a few other pieces I had laying around. One statue is broken because Kaladrax swung her tail when she landed. I made some roses with the basing stuff @knarthex had send me a while ago. Also my first real attempt at marble. I made red marble and white/yellow marble for the Crypt. WIP here if interested. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/75896-kaladrax-on-mausoleum-by-glitterwolf/& So without further ado here is Kaladrax on her Mausoleum! Hope you like it. Feel free to like, comment and praise. Any complaints...talk to the Dragon!
  24. Lidless Eye Hobbies: Get Spooky

I may have finished Orctober early this year, but that leaves plenty of time for other Halloween themed minis this year! All spookiness comes from the Bones 3 Kickstarter...actually, I think it's all from the same Crypt Expansion, except for one of the spirits. The full haunting: The Obsidian Crypt: The Graveyard Golem: The Spirits from Beyond: The true evil of the group, the Pumpkin Minions:
  25. I am trying to break out of my lurker mode and post more. I have many excuses for my silence the last few months, one of which is my lack of a good photo set up. So I decided to just take crummy phone photos with the scant natural light angling in the windows across the room. I actually like the results. Especially since you can't see a lot of my poor painting as well. approaching the the hill from the pumpkin patch... Some surprises pop out if the ground. door is open but no one is home. . . Maybe check the other side of the fence BOO
