  1. So I mentioned working on a few old minis while I was also working on My Women in Horror Tribute... this is the thread for my continued work on those this spring. The oldest is Dark Sword's Male Fighter with Spear. I got that for a GURPS campaign PC that fizzled out. I had done crazy magic blue eyes, and a very thin layer of green on the cloak, and then it's been sitting on the shelf since 2013. I haven't felt capable of tackling it. it's got tiny eyes. Next I started working on the smaller of the fierce felines, to do some weird approximation of my cat Moose (in my profile photo). That was my first experiment with blue liner on a metal mini. Now I would mix in medium. Anyway, I had a blue and white base coat before it disappeared to the shelf. Here is where this started. I don't remember when I started working on the Whispering Tyrant - it's after the other two. I had some armor and bone basecoats and a green cloak. Mostly I just tried to do more on the green cloaks. I'll upload photos of where things are at after that first session when my phone is done charging. I did some more work last night too, but I haven't taken pictures yet. I'll probably try to do some painting tonight too. Then a few days of silence.
  2. As mentioned in the "How did you come across Reaper Miniatures" topic, I just started painting two months ago. Don't feel like you have to go easy on critiques though. First prime, First paint, First wash Goldar (03461), painted grey to be a Goliath. First Boil and Chill (To remove lean), First eyes Dain Deepaxe (77074) First "OMG This is taking too long", First Dry Brush Bone Devil (77325) First Sculpt (cut off wings and used green stuff) Mummy Lich (77147) First highlights, first wet blend, first missing piece! Fire Demon (77315) Shameless copy of Fire Demon painted by mirrordissilution His right hand should be showing up in the mail any day now. Reaper customer support is amazing. There you have it! I left out the bulk paintings of skeletons and oxidation beasts (HAH!) that were hastily done for the campaign I'm running.
  3. I've decided to take a leaf out of Drifter's book, and do a WIP thread for my Reaper order that finally made it home to me (after sitting in my local post office for over a week, due to an oversight related to import duty) =] My hoard isn't quite as impressive as his, as my order contained four minis for somebody else (postage to the UK is frightening, so we always do big orders, and club together to make it work out if we can't afford enough individually) and therefore those aren't here =P I've got the following.... 77190: Nethyrmaul the Undying 77240: Ingrid, Female Viking 89031: Whispering Tyrant 77251: Bloodhoof, Minotaur Barbarian 77205: Alistrilee 77048: Mocking Beast 77240: Skeleton Guardian Sword 77241: Skeleton Guardian Axeman =] Now, Imma be swapping a couple of my skeletons with Drifter, so that we've both got more variety going on and while he's got Dragoth, I've got the Whispering Tyrant for the leader of mine. Nethyrmaul though, is the pride of this order. I'm delighted to finally have him sitting in front of me, and I've assembled him dry for the time being, just so I can admire his ridiculously tall splendour. He needs a bit of filing here and there to make his pegs sit better, as he's a bit of a pain to pop together for me, but I'm super happy with him and can't wait to get on with painting him. Not sure where Imma keep him, but y'know, what do. However, much as I wanna paint him, Imma start by cleaning him up, and then I'll try and paint I think the Mocking Beast tonight, coz it's just a delightful little thing, haha. Nethyrmaul may, however, get his base coat on tonight.
