Desert Ranger: Dark Sword Female Ranger

This was my entry in the Miniature Monthly End of Year Competition. It is a beautiful sculpt that was fun to paint. I had to do a desert theme due to playing Assassin’s Creed Origins inbetween painting sessions and I couldn’t get the light brown with blue color scheme out of my head. I am really happy with her skin although her left thigh looks really flat in the photo. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  4. The elf ranger from my Dragons Don't Share 2 group of adventurers. I wanted my adventuring party to be diverse in skin tones so I tried my hand at a Drow. I like how his skin came out although maybe a bit dark. He wasn't my favorite adventurer and you can tell with my painting as I rushed him to get him finished. In hindsight, I didn't like the colors I chose but I didn't feel like starting over on him so he is what he is. He has a cloth tied around his scabbard. I envisioned this as a memento from his lover as he left on his journey, perhaps her scarf. That is why it is a completely different color than anything himself or the rest of the party is wearing. The little bit of white at the bottom of his base is where he was stuck down with sticky tack. I have touched that up. C&C welcome!

Painted this one up for the Summer Exchange but kept forgetting to post photos. Love this little guy, lots of character in such a small sculpt.

    77049 Arthrand Nightblade's War Band

"..The destruction was total. Whoever or whatever was destroying the forest it was very methodical and thorough about it. It was as if the very life itself was sucked clean out of anything and everything for miles in every direction. The air itself reeked of unspeakable, almost palpable evil.. - Necromancers.. Cursed Arthrand the Elven Ranger under his breath and spat as he stood up. He had faced their kind before and knew what he was up against.. But this time something was different.. Something much more sinister and afoul was at work.. He could not possibly defeat this new threat alone. He had to find others.. He had to form a war band to destroy utterly and completely who dared to touch his forest! And he knew exactly where to start.." So, I decided to speedily paint some of my bones in order to form a war band of 6-8 characters.. Arthrand will be the leader and he will go around town recruiting others to his cause.. It was supposed to be speed paint and the painting itself was done in two days, a total of 5-6 hours. The base however took me even more since my basing materials have disappeared mysteriously.. (Damned Necromancers! ) So, once I get some decent flock I might do some re-basing. However I didn't fret too much about it since table-top is what I aim here. As always, thanks for looking and C&C is always welcome.. I hope you will enjoy the adventures of Arthrand Nightblade as it is revealed to us..

Thumper the ranger. His family was eaten by the same Ogres that slayed the Tortoise Cleric's Brother. So he joins him.

Rothmartyn of the DarkWold by RBG

Rothmartyn of the DarkWold by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Quality: Table Top PLUS This piece is TT+ but it also has a more of a "reach" in it than a TT+. I attempted a more elaborate freehand with the cloak - which you can see on the WIP linked at the bottom. As well as I attempted NMM for the first time. Now let me give you some context on that last sentence. I typically do TMM (True Metallic Metals) and I do them in virtually the same manner but with the added benefit (IMHO) of having actual reflection while on the table. So yes this was my first execution of NMM successfully, it is not far from my normal. All in all I think it turned out well. The green blade as well is in NMM effect. For this piece I really wanted to ascent texture which I attempted on the tunic that is laying across his legs. And other bits and bobs. The face is pretty basic which is one of the reasons I didn't do a close up of it. RBG faces from this era are pretty small and the eyes are tiny. So tiny seeing a pupil and reflection mark would be... useless in my opinion. But I would say it turned out well. More personality than I thought I was going to give it. I was B+ satisfied with the cloak. I tried doing a suggestion @Darcstaar gave me but I think I executed it "o.k". I'll try again with another model. I attempted a few new things with this piece and I like how it turned out. Thank you all for your help and support. Would really enjoying your questions, comments and critiques on this. Here is a very familiar face. I painted this guy up for my Brother so he could use him to represent his character in our Dungeons and Dragons games.

    03551 DHL Classics Lizardmen 1

My latest project, complete. You can find the WIP thread here. I did an experiment, using ridges of dirt flocking to hold in water effects. It actually worked out reasonably well, though next time I'll know to build up the rest of the base more. I also decided this one was female, on the basis that she's noticeably larger than the other two. I'm rather happy with how the shield came out here. It looked a bit like a horseshoe crab to me, so I wanted to make it look nice and chitinous, as though she tore it from the back of some great swamp arthropod. My first freehand. It was supposed to be an anchor-shaped tattoo to start with, but I messed that up, and decided to just go with an abstract design. I cheated on the pupils for these guys. I bought a micron pen, and it worked out rather well. I probably would have gone with a solid color for the eyes, otherwise. This was the only one to have any sort of decoration on his integral base. The others are pure broccoli, but he's got a little plant on his. Gave it a nice pale green color to contrast with his scales. The color is actually a mystery paint Reaper sent me. I actually have two bottles of the stuff, from two orders from around the same time. I'll be sad when it runs out. It's a very nice color. And here we have his turtleshell shield. I actually looked up pictures of real turtles and cobbled together characteristics of several species for the color selection and pattern. And here's the whole happy family, together. Touching, really.

    Stag Lord, Reaper Miniatures

I initially bought this figure to use in the Kingmaker campaign I was playing in. However I didn’t get the miniature before we encountered the villain, and he’s sat on my shelf ever since. Quite a quick job on this one and I think he’d make a pretty nice druidy character.

    Pretty Laerke by RBG

Pretty Laerke by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor This archer was an absolute joy to paint. From the moment I saw her I saw a red head. Probably highly influenced by Brave but oh well. I wanted to do some free hand on her under tunic but I could not decide on it so I left it. The base is hand sculpted too. I have a resin one from RBG coming in soon and I'm thinking of doing it as her sister and make her standing on a similar base maybe a different type of red hair. Not sure yet. Enjoy!
  15. A buddy of mine played his first ever session of D&D a few weeks back. He's talked about it at work (by buddy I mean one my bosses) quite a bit, and is really excited about playing again. At his first session, there were some experienced players that all had minis. He asked them where they were from, and from I could gather, they were mostly Pathfinder and D&D prepainted minis. Since Christmas is right around the corner, and he's been a great boss - and friend - I decided to paint something up for him. His character, an Elven Ranger, uses a special bow. I had this piece on my bench, primed and ready to go, so it seemed fitting. He was ecstatic when I delivered the piece to him today. Hope you like it! As always, C&C is welcomed. CAH

  18. Hiyo! I started working on the second painted mini for the upcoming 2016 Secret Sophie exchange, Arthrand Nightblade from the Warlord series. He'll hopefully make a great ranger character for my mystery partner! While there are many great painted examples of him already, I wanted to paint him in something other than greens and browns. I chose a blue and cream color scheme for my main colors– the rest will be neutral browns. I'll paint lighter, worn leather (or maybe linen?) wraps around his quiver and darker browns for his boots and bow. I still haven't decided on his hair color though... More to come after the Thanksgiving holiday! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Thanks for taking a look

    Adowyn, Iconic Hunter (60181)

Managed to sneak in a bit more painting When Adowyn was first shown off pre release, I knew I had to have her, and conviniently, one of my friends wanted a 28mm wolf, so we split the blister between us I opted for mostly natural and earthy tones, with a splash of colour in the form of her brighter hair, and the blue streak of warpaint on her cheek. I think the hardest thing was making all the brown tones seperate, but also work together well . Really, really happy with her though

    Ral Partha? Gnolls

I painted these guys some 17 years ago? Maybe a little longer? I can't remember what manufacturer they are. Did Ral Partha start making 28mm minis right before they mysteriously disappeared? I have some savage orcs too that are from the same line I think.
  22. So, I've probably just been watching too many anime shows lately, but I had an idea for an anime-type girl with a bow (and her head shaved all around the sides and just long on the top and done off to the side). I think she came out pretty well. I did a bit of a dolly that I cast in resin. That's why there is a tiny bit of white showing here and there in the midst of all the Green Stuff. There's also a hole in the resin in one leg, so I had to plug that with Green Stuff as well. Anyway, here's a front view... a side view... and a back view. Hope you enjoy her. I'm looking forward to Painting her :=) C&C always welcome!

    Elven Peasant Archer

So, the story behind this character plays on the stereotype of elves as forest dwelling archers. This young gal's elven family decided to move into a town and are making their living as farmers. However, young Gwenevieve here takes great pride in her elven heritage and sneaks off when she's supposed to doing chores to practice with her grandfather's bow. I was going for a simple overalls sort of dress, baggy hand-me-down sleeves from the shirt underneath, and barefoot to convey the peasant status. I also gave her short hair as she was going for function over fashion (much to the chagrin of her poor mother). I'll start throwing paint at her sometime soon (when I sit down with my Halfling shield maiden most likely). I'm a bit disappointed by the quality of the photos, but it's my own fault since I haven't had my wife (the tech support) teach me how to use the digital camera she bought. I can't get it to focus on anything.

How is he going to shoot that bow with a sword in his hand?
  25. Hi folks! Now that Flamehawke's received my Secret Sophie box, I wanted to share the miniature I painted for her. She enjoys mythology so I painted this mini based on the markings of silver foxes (which have darker leg fur patterns). It was really fun to find & paint something that matched with the "kitsune" theme of the Secret Sophie gift. This werefox archer is one of Reaper's "Lady Lycanthropes"in the 03495 pack. I had a bit of a snafu with the top part of the bow breaking off while cleaning which halted the process for over a week, though thanks to some advice from the Reaper Sculpting part of the forum, I was able to sculpt & patch it back up-- hard to tell, huh? She was a lot of fun to paint and I'm so happy to hear she's going to a good home where she may see some game time!! --Mocha
