  1. Masses for an RPG game

It has been a while since I have posted any of my work, and sadly that is because I haven't had much chance to do work. Nothing fancy, mostly just quick tabletop. Recently I managed to get a few bugbears and rats done up for a DnD 4th campaign I am running. The players have bitten off a bit more than they can chew, with a goblin army chasing them through the woods after they freed a dozen prisoners. Rogg is the charismatic (is that the right word for a bugbear?) warlord that the players will likely face if they stay to defend the village that will now have an angry horde of goblinoids coming their way. More rambling and pics on my blog.
  2. Gourls Paints a Bundle of Bugbears

So I did up these gentlemen. I made up a story in my head about how they're a trio of brothers who jointly run the biggest, baddest band of bugbears in the land. They'd make decent-ish foils for some low-level adventurers I think. Nothing mind-blowing in hand but they'll look fine on the table, which is generally always my goal anyway. I tried to get some blood-spatter going on, but admittedly I've never really looked into how to go about it. I just drybrushed some red onto their weapons (and Mogg's shield, though you can't see it). It turned out well enough you can tell what it's meant to be I think, but I know there are some stellar examples of it out there. I'll have to look into that for next time.
  3. When I first ordered the 4 identical figures I am pretty sure they were the only bugbear sculpts available. Somewhere along the line I decided to pick up the others as well. These will ensure I am not lacking bugbears in my D&D games for sure. However I would still like a ranged figure or two, and a shaman at some point. 77232: Mogg, Bugbear Warrior 77231: Rugg, Bugbear Leader 77233: Kegg, Bugbear Hunter 77015: Bugbear Warrior
  4. I finished up some conversions (and standard grunts) I started about two weeks back. With our Reign of Winter game wrapping up, it's always good to have some low level guys. Of course, most of these sculpts are from Bones I (or before), but the extra Bugbears did come with Bones II, so that's sort of progress toward it, right? So, to start, we have the mighty forces of King Togg-Togg (he's the one in the fanciest hat, of course)
  5. Recently got my Bones 2 kickstarter in the mail, pretty impressed with it, overall! Got to painting straight away, picked out some of the cooler looking minis to start with. First up we have Rogan the Orc Thief next I painted Rugg the Bugbear. Almost looks like a leader, so I have painted him slightly different than I intend to paint the rest of the bug bears. Colour scheme I got from another post here.
  6. I decided with all the doubles of grunts that came with the Bones II Kickstarter, I'd add a bit of variety to them. To be fair, only the Bugbears came (again) with Bones II, the Orcs were sitting in a trade box and I thought I'd have some to be more traditional Orcs than my Warhammer apemen collection for D&D games (or they could always serve as Hobbos or Half-Orcs in a pinch) I think the Bugbear King (with greataxe) came out the best so far.
  7. Lidless Eye Hobbies vs. Bugbears

After 4 days, the Bugbears are ready to menace some rookie adventurers.
  8. We needed Bugbears for D&D and with the timing of my Bones II delivery on Friday I dug these guys out, washed them and sat down to paint them. I spent 4 hours on Sunday painting and basing these guys. Considering that breaks down to about 40 minutes a mini I am happy with them and now they can hit the table this week. And as a bonus they will also bring my total for the RPChallenge for February to 8. After looking up their sku's I discovered Reaper named the three new sculpts and I must say I love that they have names. Makes me feel they have so much more character now and feel sorry I didn't spend a bit more time on them. Sorry only took one group picture of these guys as I didn't feel they each deserved their own photo.
  9. Two nights in so far, from bare unwashed Bones to some base earth colors and inks on some of our barbaric friends; Giants, Bugbears, and Minotaurs (oh my!)
  10. Since a few people have gotten the KS or purchased the Bones Bugbears via their FLGS I figured I'd throw my hat into the ring as well. Here's my take on them. No crazy scenic bases as these will be thrown onto the gaming table tonight! About 3 hours of work on them as well. Thanks for looking. :D
  11. I need help sorting out some minis to use use in the Warlord tournament at ReaperCon. I just know that in my mountain of unpainted lead there is at least one Warlord army. I know I will need to use some proxy models and that those need to be other Reaper Minis. The problem is in some cases I am no longer certain whether some of these guys are a Reaper model or OMM. I could use some help with identification of the minis in the pics that follow: The army I have the most (authentic Warlord) figs for is Reven. Some of the winged guys above are candidates to proxy as harpies. Is that a Reaper minotaur? I am pretty sure the ogre is one of Reaper's. I am hoping the first three are Reaper and not GW beastmen. The rest of these are candidates to proxy as either bugbears or beastmen. Suggestions for which of the above could be proxied for what and/or model numbers would be very helpful. Also, definitive info that mini-X came from non-Reaper source-Y would be just as good.
