I have a private commission to sculpt a set of cats. The client (a member of this forum) wants them as a gift for someone. I don't want to go into a lot of details or show reference pictures in the case that that someone happens to see this post, but the client did give me permission to share this here. I'll let the client decide whether or not he/she wants to reveal him/herself. The cats are to be 1 inch tall at the head if they were standing, which puts them roughly in scale for a 50 to 60 mm human. One will be sitting and one loafing. Here are the armatures with basic skulls, eyeballs, and underpinning.
I want to create a little street scene. Bikers vs Pimp So here is my mock up. I'm not sure yet on the cat on the left, I want the one on the dumpster to view the scene. Maybe the position of peaches and the motorcycle could be altered. So any comments and suggestions, give them to me, so I can do what I want in the end anyway.. In honour of Lemmy's death I will include several Motörhead / Lemmy references in the piece. Does this card wall make a believable wall? I want it to be an alley.
Howdy! So I guess this is a combination intro/show off post. I recently finished this kitty that's been sitting in my to-paint box for *mumblety* years, and I'm quite proud of how it came out. That's a Groundwerks base insert with LOTS of snow flock on it. Anyhoo, about me: I first started painting in 1999, when I discovered Reaper minis at the Game Depot across the street from Arizona State University's main campus, next door to the Utrecht art supply store (I was a crazypants art major). I took to miniature painting like a duck to water, and wound up making most of my spending money painting for others all through college. I wound up taking a hiatus until fairly recently, and didn't paint much between 2003 and now, but I'm adding it back to my ever-growing list of hobbies. I'm a senior video game tester by day. I also draw, occasionally write stuff, dabble in costuming, leatherwork, and chainmail, and tinker with electronics--all usually with the world's snuggliest cat in my lap.
Just in time I finished off some kitties for Mother's Day presents. I kept meaning to paint these guys sooner, so they were a bit rushed to get them done and sealed in time for Mother's Day. Never the less I wanted to share them as they were a joy to paint always fun painting up critters. I based them on 30mm round bases with some cork and modeling paste. I still have more of these little guys to paint and place onto other minis bases in the future I hope. To all the mother's on the forums Happy Mother's Day, may you have a wonderful and joyful day.
