  1. I have a Halloween themed adventure coming up, and I have been hyping how scary and gory it will be to the players. Unbeknownst to them, it will actually be a lighthearted romp featuring these Halloween themed cereal monsters! Instead of horror and frights, the players will be solving goofy puzzles, trick-or-treating with monsters, and hopefully having a fun time! I enjoyed painting these figs, especially the Clay Golem (77170) for Frankenberry, which was mostly an experiment in layering paints. The Vampire (77282) as Count Chocula was most challenging, as I was limited to a brown palette. Critiques and advice are always welcome! Thanks in advance!

    Kev!'s 77170: Clay Golem

Howdy, Yes, I know Captain Stern... Kev! P.s. He should be torn into itsy bitsy pieces and buried alive!
  3. Hey guys back again and with three mini's this time! I have done the mighty Ape-x and the scary eye beast along with my take on the clay golem! I felt he looked like the Incredible Hulk so I did him so as always I had a blast doing these and could not wait to share them with my friends on this site! Thanks so much for your likes and comments it makes my day every time I get a like or comment! As always comments are appreciated and gratefully received!!

First mini painted: 77170: Clay Golem

My first attempt at painting a mini. The main colour here is Liquitex gray no. 5, with a couple of drops of AP 'Barbarian Flesh' to add some tone to it. The shorts/pants/whatever is AP 'Army Green'. The eyes are AP 'Lava Red', and the teeth are unpainted. The base... Was more gray no. 5, but this time mixed with a dark brown. No washes, highlights, shines or anti-shine was used. (Variations in the gray is all from thickness of the gray and how it blended with the BF colour) The body was painted using the Wargamer: Regiment brush, then the cloth and eyes were done using the Wargamer: Insane Detail brush. And finally, I fixed the worst of the errors with the Insane Detail brush. All in all, I'm satisfied with the look. (In a year or three I expect I'll be embarassed with this mini) It seems the Liquitex doesn't adhere too well to the plastic formula in the Bones minis, so if I use more of that I will use a primer first. (I have a 60ml of Vallejo Gray Primer I can use, but will accept suggestions if there are better suited ones. No spray primers, though. I have a -3 in Spray-painting skill, and throwing saves with a D4)
  5. Not sure this is the most logical grouping of photos, but I'm trying to not flood the board with a topic for each mini since I take pics in big batches. Oxidation Beast Stone Golem Clay Golem Hell Hound
  6. Like I mentioned I had a productive few days last week, and I had a few more after the earth elemental was all done- probably mostly due to the cheerleaders on here Since I was just done with the stone golems I figured I might as well finish all the golems while I was at it. So here they are, 2x Vampire golems all done. Removed the pants from the clay golems as I just find that stuff silly, other than that they're all stock. I know I've said I don't like having two identical models, but golems are an exception to that rule. Golems are pretty much made to, say, stand guard at each side of a doorway, and having two that are the exact same adds to that imo. I did all their eyes white with the same green fluo paint so they have a nice magic golem glow. I might add some dry/dead static grass on the bases, but I'm not sure yet. I kinda like them muddy and cohesive like they are now. On another note, I keep posting these show off threads with SKUs etc for every model I finish (and feel is good enough to be seen by others :P). I thought I read somewhere that that was the prefered way to go about it (due to ease of finding the model you want an example off etc), however now I see a lot of folks posting collected show off threads instead. Sooo if that's prefered I'll start one of those with my next submission instead.
