  1. So, I needed a little distraction from all the Reptiles and Amphibians... This guy just has had a nice comfy soapy bath and a trim with an exacto knife. Now drying and waiting for colours. Need to fill the gap between wings and back with plastic putty ( vallejo)
  2. Just finished up painting the skeleton archer I've been working on and decided on this guy as my next one up. Seems to be a devil or demon with a mask on maybe? I decided to to go with a purple cape and red skin on this guy. Probably make the axe gunmetal with some silver highlights. Not sure on the breast plate thingy he's wearing. Couple of details I've gone over in purple or red that will need changed. Comments and criticism welcome!
  3. Hi all, I've been reading the forums for a couple months since I've started getting into painting miniatures. Here is my fourth one that I just finished up. Comments welcome!
  4. Next up on the Bones-painting production line is this one, 77261: Bat Demon by Bob Ridolfi. At first I was going to paint him classic devil red, but I went with green in the end to give it a more serpentine look. I don't know why I wanted that; there's nothing very serpentine about the sculpting, but there you are. The heart has its reasons. The wings and elevated position make this figure a bit more imposing than its stature actually warrants. As far as its body goes, it's just very slightly — if at all — larger than the average Reaper bloke.
  5. Straight from the depths of hell, it's.........Devil Girl, Supervillain! (cue scary music!) For a change, instead of painting the eyes looking straight on, I painted them so that she was looking to the right as if she just spied a do-gooding superhero & was about to lob a fireball in their direction. The base was created using the Basius "Dungeon" stamp with the river part painted up as lava - I imagined that wherever she walked, the ground morphed into fiery molten goodness. Thanks for looking, comments & criticisms are always welcome.
  6. My take on Orcus, in a diabolical red. Cheers, E.E.
  7. The Bearded Devils are complete. Lots of Reaper Cinnamon Red on these guys. Actually, a lot of red, period. WIP thread HERE More pictures on my blog.
  8. Sing the song! "I'll be there for you...!" :-) So, after the completion of their awesome campaign, Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe were booked on a gig that was simultaneously more serious and less comfortable. These three took forever to paint-- I experimented with implied lighting from the magma, but am less than pleased with the results because they don't look like the lava is lighting them at all. Instead, the shadows I attempted to paint on the facing-away sides just seem to look muddy. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
  9. Fractured Dimensions' Bearded Devils are currently on the paint-table. Great looking Paul Muller sculpts. One tricky bit is the deeply recessed (as in virtually inaccessible) areas under the kilts (a situation admittedly worsened by basing prior to painting). A heavy initial slathering of black paint (1st picture) has hopefully prevented headaches down the road. (I'll keep my fingers crossed. Murphy's Law suggests a different outcome.) The second picture shows the base colors blocked in. As per recent efforts in the devil department, it's Reaper Cinnamon Red skin and Vallejo Vermillion kilts. The fluorescent orange beards are a new wrinkle.
  10. Hey guys ! Today I am submitting the third of my four skeleton kings. This one is the Ghost king of Amethyst! My other two are jade and Ruby check them out also! I am doing the quartet as part of a massive Dungeons and Dragons campaign! I had a blast doing these..Anyways Enjoy and as always comments are wanted and appreciated! Also please let me know if any of you guys have projects I would love to know about them!
  11. I'm on a devil kick at the moment. Wyrd's Lilitu (metal version). Anyone know who the sculptor is? The Cinnamon Red received as a freebie during the 12 days of Christmas sale is proving well suited to for devil skin. More pics/info on my blog.
  12. Paul Muller strikes again. Fractured Dimensions' Bael.
  13. Since she is topless, here are a few cropped pics and links to more pictures. Not so happy with how she turned out, but she is good enough for gaming! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxnQkRMUnNuSWxsUTg/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxnNFc0Ml9qVF9yOXc/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxncXprbkJHbUNHbjA/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxncWh1ZXdaTEJyV1E/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZgOi70hDxnRm9UM2tMeVJfT2M/view?usp=sharing
  14. Well, finished this last night. There is a WIP thread, but honestly there's hardly any difference between those shots and these, except some work on the lips. And these are less blurry. I mainly wanted to paint this miniature to experiment with painting blue skin. The skin is Formula P3 Trollblood base, with varying amounts of Reaper Pure White added. It took for or five layers, finishing up with some tiny lines of pure white on the highlights. Reaper Witchcraft Purple featured prominently also, especially in her hair. Speaking of which, the camera has totally failed to capture the dark blue-purple shadows between hair strands, made using a wash of Witchcraft Purple cut with Indigo Blue. Oh well. I'm still not entirely happy with the lips. But I can live with them. Here are pics of the base from a slightly top-down angle: The base is resin, from Micro Arts Studio's Possessed line, in the WRound 30mm group.
  15. This was an interesting one to paint. I painted Agramon around the same time as Vanja. I wanted to break up the monotony of color a bit from the standard art for the pit fiend, so I attempted a like charred and blackened skin in parts and the bony ridges. Made a rookie mistake and painted the fire backwards, haha, but hey.
  16. My Babau Demon, painted up to use as a minor demon in Frostgrave. It was a pretty quick paint job, what with it being only one colour and all. I think I achieved a bloody, meaty red look. Now I need a foolish wizard to summon him...
  17. This week, I continued to work on the Bedeviled Set from the Bones 1 KS, and painted Vaeloth, Hellborn Paladin. I had some fun with his base, using a black crackle paint over some bright orange paint, which gives a pretty neat volcanic look I think. As always, C & C welcome. For the full painting article, please see my blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2016/01/vaeloth-hellborn-paladin-figure-191-of.html
  18. This week I found time to start the Bedeviled Set from the Bones I Kickstarter, and completed a nice tabletop paint job on Sinessa, Hellborn Sorceress. When I was looking at the figure and considering how I wanted to paint her, I thought she might work good as some kind of ice demon for my Frostgrave games, so I decided to paint her in a more wintery paint scheme. I also thought I would experiment with the techniques presented in MonkeySloth's Ice Base tutorial http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/43463-tutorial-creating-ice-bases/?p=605514 As always, C & C are welcome. I'm very pleased with how she turned out, and think she looks suitable frosty. :)
  19. Dispater from Fractured Dimensions: More pictures on my blog.
  20. Couple more demons for my Wrath of the Righteous campaign. This time its a succubus and the innocent new girl in town, Mary Lith. Bases are chaos bases from a recent CMON kickstarter. The marilith is based on a coral snake pattern and the succubus is based on a naked chick. Thanks! Thanks to carnacki for filling me in on the nudity policy which i should have read. The Following links contain nudity (though I dont know why a shirtless man is less offensive than a shirtless woman) Succubus http://i61.tinypic.com/142zdoh.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/okd8vo.jpg http://tinypic.com/m/j5d0df/4 Marilith http://tinypic.com/m/j5d0dg/4 http://tinypic.com/m/j5d0di/4 http://tinypic.com/m/j5d0dk/4
  21. Just finished the boar demon from bones II. I thought it would be cool for him to have a supernatural demonic illness, hence the glowing sores. Loved painting this guy. The bones material really lends itself to these larger figures. Hope you like!
  22. Actually making some time to get some painting done this week. Still, what few minis I actually get around to painting this month will all go into the resolutionary challenge total. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. Next up is the Bones 2 92876 Bone Devil (I assume that is it's name) This was a wonky one, no amount of boiling would get it to keep standing up straight! It would straighten up just fine when held in hot water and then into ice cold, but then it would gradually lean over again over time. I attribute this to the weight of the wings and upper body and the thin and bent knee simply not being strong enough in this material. even though it is made of the more rigid Bonesium. I solved this by inserting a strut. A simple length of paperclip from beneath the base and pushing the right knee -and therefore the whole mini - up into the correct position, The pin was hidden in the bushes on the base. 40mm base, Bones PVC.
  23. Two of my favorites from FD's Infernal Minions Kickstarter. Mr Muller really outdid himself with these two. A blast to paint. WIPs and whatnot up on my blog.
  24. This was a really fun miniature to paint. In addition to getting a lot of practice dry brushing, I got to try out making gore from UHU glue & TCR. Really great effect, but very difficult to apply in thin layers.
