  1. Here is the first (of three) stalagmites from Bones 2. The other 2 are in progress and will get added to this thread when they are complete.
  2. Nothing terribly special, I had 2 sets of these, so I figured, I'd get them done.
  3. Bags and Jars. Another quickie. Maybe an hour for the two of them? Hard to say, the work took place in scattered minutes of attention while other, more complex things were drying/setting/etc.
  4. Randomly rampage your rampant randomness! You know the drill.
  5. I painted up the Bones 2 barrels yesterday.
  6. I finished up the table and benches from Bones 2 the other day. Still playing with camera settings to try to get good pictures; the first one is closer to the actual color, the second one isn't as dark. Let me know what you think.
  7. I also painted the crates from Bones 2.
  8. I ended up with a bunch of extra crates from one of my Hirst Arts molds, and decided to experiment with wood the other night. So here you go! In case anyone's curious about the recipe, here's what I did. Everything but the wash is done with dollar-store craft paints, that don't have great coverage, so this might not be the best plan to try to recreate with good paints (at least without testing it out first)... Basecoat with Burnt Umber Heavy drybrush with Bright Orange Light drybrush with Cashmere Tan Very light drybrush with Antique White (a sort of yellow-tinted off-white colour) Wash with Citadel's Agrax Earthshade The chest's metal bits were done with Blackened Steel, highlights picked out with Honed Steel, and then a few shadows established with Reaper Pure Black.
  9. This is an old Ral Partha ( I think--if you know differently, please let me know and I'll edit the thread ) brazier I was originally going to use it with my evil shrine aquarium piece (see here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60231-evil-shrine-terrain-piece/?p=1089218), but I couldn't get it to fit inside to my satisfaction. I finally decided to just paint it up separately. I wanted to try painting fire again. I've done it a few other times, but it always looked 'wrong' somehow. I'm moderately happy with this attempt. I started off with white, went to yellow, and then used red, orange, and finally all three wet blended together to try and make it look 'real'. What do you think?
  10. So this is the first Finished mini of the year, The Archway that I got through the generosity of Reaper Miniatures. Nothing really special about my painting on this, another piece of dungeon dressing. and the back: Which the characters will not see. For info on the picture in the archway, see WIP Thanks for looking! George
  11. So here are a couple of candelabra from The Altar of Evil w Victim. More Dungeon dressing stuff for our Pathfinder Game... Done with primarily Scale 75 metallics, but the base of the stick itself is a metallic blue Reaper sample paint I got some time ago. It blended very well with the Scale colors to darken and lighten while staying with metallic colors. It is difficult to see, but I tried to copy the colors for the candle flame from the reference post by Cranky Dog. I tried to do some fine brown ink lines instead of the usual white/yellow/orange/red... It might not have been the best place for it, but I like it, and its done... The Base is a washer with Apoxie sculpt cobbles... It was very difficult to photograph, so sorry in advance for the pics... Thanks for looking! George
  12. So here is my Altar of Evil, finished up. Nothing fancy after the filling in of the hollow side. I wanted to do the skulls in a 'Cared for' Copper color, which is why there is no verdigris on them.... I mean really, what Evil Priest is not going to have an acolyte around to polish stuff? I also wanted them to appear as if they had candles in them, so I filled the eye sockets and noses with Scale 75 Inktensity Yellow, and rimmed them with a touch of watered down Scale 75 Aldebaran Red. WiP Here Pics: As always, Comments welcome! George
  13. So here is my version of The Well of Chaos: some close ups: The water effect crept up the sides due to surface tension, but not enough for me to worry... WiP here. Thoughts and comments welcome! George
  14. Here are photo I thought I'd post of more minor projects I finished up. The one on the left is a Hirst Arts crate beside the bones 2 crates. I probably could have defined the bones ones more but they were all quick paints. They both have different feels. So I think they are both useful for variety. Thanks for looking.
  15. OK, I haven't been posting a lot of miniatures lately. Mostly because I haven't been finishing much. But I also haven't had access to the camera I was using and my cell phone camera stopped working. So I broke out my camera I tried to get working before and could never take decent photo's. So here I go trying to get it to work again. Here are some barrels a painted in between working on other projects. One is the small barrel from bones 2. The next is a barrel I got from somewhere sometime ago. The last is a hirst arts barrel from one of the molds. All Painted with the same colors. And here is a Hirst Arts chest from the same mold.
  16. Made his darned paws too thick. But the buddy that didn't want to order one from France seems happy with it. I think the French one's nicer, and a whole lot easier than skinning my Bones one.
  17. Some quick tabletop paint jobs: Bones coffin (77137) in bronze: We sprayed this golem (77168) with silver spray paint when we got our bones, and it was a disaster, very tacky to the touch. I stuck him on a shelf. 6 months later he was no longer tacky so I gave him a quick wash and highlighted some details: And Vulture's paint job inspired mine for the stone golem (77171): Edited to add SKU's to test and title.
  18. So I made this not-quite-ready-for-prime-time architectural feature out of Magic Sculpt. It's the same on both sides except the rings match up (even if they aren't in a plank). My molding skills aren't up to casting it, which is a pity because a few based copies would work pretty well for the weekly Swords and Wizardry session. 10 points to the first person that can tell me why it's a partial cartouche shape. Also, Lysette's grumpy that I took her picture without makeup.
