    02740 Egyptian Pharoh Skeleton

One day this will be a diorama with some archaeologists. One day...

    Auberon's 2017 Summer Exchange

My partner this time around was SamuraiJack, so if you haven't check your mail yet stop reading! I'll edit in some tags later, but for now no spoilers!

    Stheno, consort of Set

This character comes in two versions. I already painted the nice one. This is her evil, medusa headed version. I also experimented with very pale skin, using Spectral White and Lavender. That mop in her right hand is the wig that the other model wears to cover her snakes. Link to NSFW image.

    Prophet and Cultist of Set

Finished up a couple of figures from the Temple of Set project. The guy on the left reminds me of someone I saw in a movie once [wink]. The cultist originally had a flail or scourge in his right hand, but it broke so I replaced it with a second blade.
  5. Huge box of sandstone Lunesdargent Workshop terrain arrived from KS and I'm starting to paint it up... Trying to pick out a paint scheme and I'm looking for suggestions. I'm looking to do Egyptian style ruins rather then a "current" time version that might still having colored paint. How the pieces come is in the upper right ... I've tried a dark redish-brown GW wash reikland flesh iirc (upper left), tempered it back with a heavy bone drybrush (lower left), also tried a 20:1 Reaper Ruddy Brown wash lower right. Not really happy with any thus far, and don't want to burn out too many pieces on tests. I found some pictures of a hirst arts set with a paint scheme I like, but I'm not entirely sure how to achieve the effect. Maybe a heavier ruddy brown wash with a bone or sand color drybrush over it? I can't link to the pic as its on another .com but if you google image search for etomb359.jpg it will come up. Appreciate any suggestions!
  6. A little something I picked up from my FLGS's discount bin; this 54mm scale mummified minotaur comes with a choice of horns and pole-cleavers to attach to an otherwise simple assembly. Here are the parts laid out before priming. I still struggle to decide which horns and weapon to build him with. Using one means not using the other, after all, but I figure they'll find another place to go eventually.
  7. This is my used artifact merchant. I am very happy with the paint job on him. I am less happy with the fight he and I had over being pinned. I have had him finished for awhile but when I went to pin him on a different base, the pin popped out the side of his foot, chipping the paint and making me mad at him. He was sent to time out in a tupperware for a few months until I took him to paint day today to be based. I touched up the chipped paint (when his pin broke, I dropped him so he had a few scuffs) and made a new, simple base for him. I used the Bones jars as an accent on his base. His foot is a little wonky and I didn't want to do any more harm to him trying to straighten it so I will live with it. Besides the pinning accident, he is a very fun little guy to paint with lots of character. I was not keen to attempt more freehand than on the stripes on the pants but for someone with more confidence, his vest begs for a design! Hope you like him!
  8. Sculptor: Bob Ridolfi I fished this cute girl out of the Box o' Goodwill from the Reaper forums, so it's only right that she make her way back to another forum member as an exchange mini for Secret Sophie 2016. Tricksay wanted to receive "open to anything"; I love when people pick that, because I can just paint whatever I feel like. Thanks to Bonwirn for giving me a bunch of Hirst Arts blocks to make the diorama out of. After I took these pictures I realized: OMG, you can't even see the rear half that I spent so much time on. Despite the chance of ruining the mini, I carefully drilled a magnet hole through the bottom of the base so she can be removed. I threw in a gaming base as well for picture taking purposes, and just in case Tricksay ever wants to use her in a game. I was joking with my friends at paint day that "no, those are her adventuring clothes; convenient necklace, weird skirt-thong and all."

    02885 Khalith, Mummy Lord

One I did just for fun. He was a cool model, and lots of fun to paint - just the right amount of detail. He helped in working on my NMM, and OSL and this is my 4th 'real' attempt for both. It turned out not too bad. Ugh....I just realized I need to fix up the back of the sword....

    African Princess and musician

This is the "Egyptian Princess" from Dark Fable's third crowdfunder. I thought she looked better with the darker skin tone. Full image linked for nudity. A dwarf musician. I was trying for an olive skin tone, but it came out more green than I liked.

Chosen of Sokar, Nefsokar Sergeant 14164

This is the finished product of my work in progress here. The model should have taken me about a month or so to paint, but the work in progress pushed me to work on it more often. Just about every night I did something with it. The first base I painted was a premade resin base. However, his legs were too spread apart to fit properly, so I made this one myself. Used a bunch of my modeling clay which was not cheap, but I figured it was worth the effort. I actually liked the work in progress forum. People were very supportive and gave nice ideas. So a big thanks to those that followed my short journey there and I think I will return in the future. Without further adieu...
  12. I got at least one request to do a work in progress for my next model........so here I am :) Not sure how I feel about WIP posting. I sort of like the surprise of seeing a mini for the first time posted finished. We shall see what happens. ...and yes, that is a robotic thumb I have. some of my implants may be called cheating by some, but I say there is no crying in miniature painting! Get your own robotic appendages. Based skin and some shadowing. My eyes are having trouble seeing where skin ends and cloth begins. This is not going to be an easy mini. My own wash concoction. Happy with the experiment, exactly what I wanted which rarely happens. painting the bandages and started on some metals. Usually colors are easy for me, but the painted mini I was looking at for reference has relatively the same colors I would have gone with. Sooooo...trying to picture some other scheme in my head since I don't want a copy of what was already done. Either I have a master plan or I am avoiding certain areas that I don't want to paint yet. Not sure about the metallic purple armor trim either. I know the purple armor trim on the leg has got to go. Still not sure about the shoulders, I kinda like it. On his back, the purple brings out the eye of Horus design nicely. Things don't always go as planned. I spent a lot of time painting that weapon and just could not get what I wanted. I like it as gold more. At leas you get to see what might have been. After that I'm Almost there. The sash up front and tied around his waist. Some touching up, sealing and then it will be on to painting up a nice base. Finished Painting the model, time to work on a base. Oh man, at the foot of the stairs! Big blob of putty with some freehand sculpting, some recycled stands made into stairs (which I am a little regretting clipping his, because I could have jammed them into the putty instead of using other items to keep him steady while the glue and putty did their trick) and some rocks glued on. a few more steps and I should it should be complete.

    02075: Katarina The Invoker

This is Sandra Garrity's 02075, Katarina the Invoker. Technically she is from the set 03375: DHL Classics: Female Wizards, which seems to be different only in that the figures have much smaller bases. To increase stability I glued her to a fender washer. This is a figure I started a long while ago and finished only recently as part of my Conga Line of Doom. I wanted to refine her further, especially the tortoiseshell cat at her feet, but time is short and minis need playing with.
  14. These are the minis that Tosek painted for me for Secret Sophie. These are the pictures that he took that are way better than the quick ones I took at the kitchen table. I loved everything he sent me and will post pictures of the other goodies once I return home but wanted to show off these painted ones now! They are Nefsokar Devourer of Ammat (14381), Khadath, Nefsokar Captain (14064), and Tomb Guard (14370). They are so cool!
  15. Put your left hand in Put your left hand out Put your left hand in And shake it all about Do the hokey pokey and turn yourself about! That's what it's all about! Sigh. So I meant to get all these lovely Egyptian themed minis painted in October. In the end I only got the standard mummies done and the mummy warriors' bandages barely started. Looks like I already have my November painting challenge minis lined up. Completed pics of the rest hopefully next month.

    PF AP: Mummy's Mask

***********Recruiting closed for now************** The ancient lands of Osirion are blanketed by the sands of time, and eldritch secrets and vast riches lay just beneath the sun-blistered surface. As modern Osirion opens its vaults and tombs to outsiders for the first time in centuries, many of these lost treasures and secrets are now emerging—some more troublesome than others. Hakotep I, a now-forgotten pharaoh, was robbed upon his burial. A secret sect took his heart and his funerary mask, both containing a portion of his soul. Betrayed the chance to pass on into the afterlife during his burial, Hakotep has existed in a state between life and death for millennia. The recent rediscovery of one of these lost soul fragments has allowed the trapped pharaoh to once again work in this world to redress the wrongs committed against him, and a cult worshipping him as a god-king grows in the heart of Osirion. Can a group of heroes brave terrible guardians, foul cults, and the burning sands of the desert to stop the rebirth of this ancient tyrant? Game Site: Click here to go to site House Rules No evil alignments (neutral with harsh tendencies is fine) Automatic Bonus Progression (Unchained) Background Skills (Unchained) Dynamic Item Creation (Unchained) Races do not add in the negative from racial abilities Roll Stats (4d6 drop the lowest. 2 groups and pick the set you like best. Arrange to your taste) I prefer no stat below 10, but if you want any below 10 then I'm fine with it as it can add spice to the game. Alternate rules from other books I will let in: Retraining (Ultimate Campaign) Words of Power (Ultimate Magic) Downtime (Ultimate Campaign) I tend to be easygoing about races and classes, but with that said if something is very obviously broken I will veto it. This is very rare as almost everything can be broken in the right hands. As a note standard monster races probably will do very very badly to start as this adventure is set in Golarion. I do like backgrounds and don't mind some crazy or rough ones. Even in an AP I do like to try and find ways to weave in some of the personal back stories. Keep in mind this is actually set in Golarion and has the restrictions for PC races they imposed. That said I will entertain the idea of them in the AP, but there will be limits (for instance no Drow Noble). So choose wisely. I will need how you guys came to be together or agreement to have a brief adventure that pull you together before coming for a chance to explore the tombs. I will follow examples on here and haldir 100xp for a background story 100xp for a painted mini if you are so inclined

    Anubis Guard - 14390

Wow, been a couple of weeks since I have been on and there are so many really nice minis posted. I've been on an Egyptian kick lately and ready to add this one to my growing theme set. Hope you like.

Nefsokar Devourer of Ammat - 14381

Trying to work on my metallics and this gave me a nice big detailed sword to practice with. All in all this went fairly quick for me. Always fun deciding what to paint next, usually depends on how much I am willing to assemble. I love when I don't have to glue or putty anything like this alligator dude.

    Scorpion Man - 03105

Took a lot more time than I thought he would, but he was fun to paint. I really love painting Reaper's monsters. Somehow I ended up with a whole different style than my previous scorpion, but even if it doesn't match, I think it came out OK. My resolution is to paint at least what I have put together on my desk before I purchase anymore minis. This takes care of mini #4, just a handful more to go! Hope you enjoy.
  20. For my next Grenadier mini I chose the "Guardswoman." She is showing a decent amount of skin so I decided to use her as an experiment in doing a darker skintone with the Scale75 flesh set. My main concerns were that my basecoat would look a little too red (it did) and that the jump between the shadow and the midtone colors of the set was so large that it would require a half-step (it did). Fortunately a few simple glazes was all it needed to get the colors as I wanted them, though I didn't put the time in to get perfectly smooth transitions. For the rest I once again went with the color scheme as shown on the box art. Since she was already a test I decided to use her for another couple of experiments. I don't have any personal recipes for NMM steel or gold, but I do have some colors that I think should work. Just as with the skin, the NMM was all about seeing how the colors worked rather than getting the smooth blended necessary for the effect. Before I really go all in, I want to study some properly lit metal (which excludes the majority of CMON). Since I decided to do this halfway through I also ran into a bit of an issue with rough edges that I hadn't worried about during the prep stages. It's tricky to do edge highlighting when the edge itself is flawed. Since on the box she's a guard getting ordered about by an Egyptian looking person I did a simple freehand of the Eye of Horus on her shield. Also, this is yet another true 25mm mini with eyelids... and I just don't see what you all are complaining about.
  21. This project stemmed from two things, first off I sent Siri a dragon a while back on a whim since we were talking about Space Dragons and she painted him up and surprised me by sending it back to me! Secondly, there was an announcement made from Heisler and Clever Crow about allowing "Team" entries into the ReaperCon 2015 Painting Contest. I put it out to Siri that we could do a Team Diorama that brings the Space Dragon (SD) into contact with far away ancient civilizations, she loved the idea and we ended up with the plan to order figures. The scene we came up with would depict a portal that the SD coming through with a friend or two and visiting (unannounced) ancient Egypt. A surprised priestess and her guardian sphinx are also part of the plan going forward. Figures included: Egyptians - 02734: Egyptian Statue Anubis - Decoration (WIP W/ SIRI) 02928: Sobek Statue - Decoration (WIP W/ SIRI) 03007: Egyptian Cat Statue - Decoration (WIP W/ SIRI) 03008: Egyptian Jackal Statue - Decoration (WIP W/ SIRI) 03506: Egyptian Priestess and Baboon (baboon not in scene) - Surprised by unexpected visitors (WIP W/ SIRI) 14256: Sphinx, Nefsokar Monster - Protector of the Priestess (RECEIVED - SENDING TO SIRI SOON) Visitors - 77108: Shadow Dragon - The one, the only SPACE DRAGON!!! I'll remove broccoli and base onto the diorama itself. (FINISHED, see below) 02637: Marcus Starsong - Will probably remove his staff, stands to the side of Kimberlee. (WIP W/ SIRI) 02391: Kimberlee the Fair - Will stand next to the SD with her hand outstretched to touch him. (WIP W/ SIRI) Other things included- Jars/Urns/Various other objects - Sculpted by Siri herself Obelisk - from the Secret Weapon Bag o' Crap, will be smoothed out and painted as sandstone with hieroglyphs upon it, situated between the statues of Anubis and Sobek. Galaxy Portal - Siri will draw it out on either canvas or plasticard (or something else that'll take the swirling galaxy nicely as freehand), I will do a small pour of water effects with realistic water to give it some shimmer and waves (think Stargate). 2 walls - one on the left will be an arch with the portal, the back wall will probably go with some ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. The ground will be a courtyard. We know there is a lot of time before ReaperCon 2015, but this is going to be a lengthy project to get right with some things being mailed back and forth, items being ordered, and wanting to make it look contest-worthy. We won't show off the finished product until AFTER RCon though. We will both be posting our updates in this WIP thread and hope to get some great feedback (like always) from all you fine forumites out there!
