  1. One of my favorite Fantasy races are the Undead, followed by Chaos and Reptilians. I already have my Lost World Project which tells a tale of Conquistadores, Reptilians, Dinosaurs, Undead and a lot more. However those Undead are the Egyptian Style and Pirate/Jungle style. This thread will be filled with my beloved Gothic Undead, Demons, Monsters and all things that go bump in the night. In my Lost World Project I tell an ongoing story, here I will post about all other dark things without coherency. There might be snippets of loose stories to accompany a mini or not... I hope you guys and gals and creatures will like it. Let's kick off with the critters I painted a while ago to get a feel of what is coming. Enjoy! ( or not) Bats and a Murder of Crows EDIT: I will include some Bones and minis. The bulk will be metal and I want to give this an oldschool vibe. Preferred minis will be, Reaper, Grenadier, Ral Partha, Rafm, Metal Magic, Otherworld and Early Citadel. The Asian Undead will be from Zenith since I backed the Kensei Undead Samurai KS and will get their own thread. Eldessa Necromancer Ral Partha Female Vampire Lurien and Aysa Bat Demon

    Warduke

Some of you are old enough to remember the old Dungeons and Dragons toy line from way back when. In that toy line, they featured an evil fighter named Warduke. He also made one appearance in the cartoon, and was given stats (more than once) for use in the pencil and paper RPG. I have decided to make/convert a copy of him for myself. This is who I'm talking about for those that don't know, or remember: He got brought back for 3.0 or 3.5 edition D&D, too: Now, that's some pretty cool artwork, and my apologies to Mr. Reynolds, but it's wrong. Warduke is LEFT handed. See? Anyway, now that we all know who I'm talking about, I chose the Bones version of Goldar : http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/goldar/latest/77047 to use as the base for this project. And this is what I've gotten done so far: Hand removed for a weapon swap, left arm armor sculpted with GS, started reshaping the left boot.

Left home in a hurry for a family emergency. Grandfather having heart trouble so I’m hanging out with him helping out. I didn’t bring any minis or paint so I found a local game store and picked up a few. I went to hobby lobby and michaels for some brushes and paint. The paint was extremely cheap but hey if it doesn’t work out I can do something else. Space for travel is super limited (motorcycle) so I don’t want much to carry. I brushed on some foundation white from model color. Since I don’t have any skin tone I had to experiment making it. I am happy with the results. I’m not quite sold on the color for the armor yet.
  4. *** Rise Creatures of Chaos !!!!*** *** It's time for Mankind to fall !!!*** A while ago I purchased this one through the Bay of Evil. It is supposed to be the Forged Monkey's bust. I have some doubts though. It was shown as an original, but it came without the original packing. Also I had to remove a lot of flash and needed heavy greenstuffing.. Could be a knock off. However I will paint it.. Started prepping.
  5. PurpleLlama

    14080: Uriel, Guardian Angel

Here is my next project I'm trying to focus on while filling in with the hill giant. This is a birthday present for a friend. I'm thinking of going for a dark angel look with reds, purples and blacks. I'll attach the wings after I get most of the upper portion painted up.
  6. Glitterwolf

    77261 BAT DEMON by Glitterwolf

This is the Reaper Bones Bat Demon I wanted to try some fiery wings. Comments and likes welcome! Hope you like him.
  7. So, I needed a little distraction from all the Reptiles and Amphibians... This guy just has had a nice comfy soapy bath and a trim with an exacto knife. Now drying and waiting for colours. Need to fill the gap between wings and back with plastic putty ( vallejo)
  8. I am going to start a larger competition entry, and thought I'd make this WIP thread to help me keep a red line on the project. The task is to recreate a cover of a book or album. Nothing to post yet, except the cover which will be my inspiration for the entry. I have had it in my mind for a while, and this comp gave me an excuse to begin. Bits have been ordered, and work will commence once they arrive. :) Maybe a little sooner. ^^ As there are some things I can do right away.

ok I had been wanting this mini for a while, when it finally arrived I was a little surprised how small it looked with out paint. I worried that it wouldn't look menacing standing next to a large fighter, I was wrong. with paint the dimensions seem to change. comments and critiques welcomed. I think I will call his axe Moon scream.
  10. Yes, Jafar has an evil twin. He decided that "phenomenal cosmic power but itty bitty living space" wasn't his thing so he decided to go a different route to achieve his fame and fortune. His name is Aziz and he has been working on ways to call forth the dead. I am running an Egyptian based Earthdawn game and realized I paint lots of pretty girls and hardly have any guys (good or bad) even though I do buy males. So, for the past couple weeks I have been working on all male figures - mummies, merchants, a cat...hey, it's a boy cat!, and Aziz. Now I am trying to get everything on bases. So, I had considered putting Aziz on a desert base or a temple floor base but I didn't have what I was looking for so went searching through a friend's box of goodies. He tossed me this base and said "Here ya go, make it lava." Well, I didn't "see" lava when I looked at him but thought I could do something to match the green of the flame coming from the skull. I then had the idea of a hand reaching out of the....goo?....slime?....stuff? So, we started digging through the rest of his stuff and found some arms and heads (also bodies but I didn't want the whole thing) so I chose what I wanted and went to work on his base. I also used Chaoswolf's tutorial on making stringy blood to make dripping goo off the zombie guy's hand. Pretty pleased with how it turned out! As for the pictures, the green is bright (Valejo Fluorescent Green) but not quite as bright as the pictures make it look. In the base there is actually some yellow and white swirled in and then I mixed some green ink with realistic water and poured that over everything. You can't really see any of the details in the photos. I might try different photos with lights angled differently or something. Anyway, here he is! Questions, comments, critiques welcome and encouraged!
  11. This is the model I intend on using for "Rosubian" the sorcerer for my Song of Blades and Heroes warband. He is so much fun, and I'm very happy with him. The basing is liquitex matte medium (for the lava) which was painted, cork and then Golden Blended fibers for the top of the base.
  12. These were a lot of fun, and I have 5 more on deck. The lava/temple bases have been a lot of fun to work through. The first up is Hthark the Unstoppable, from Blood Bowl. he was a lot of fun, and I intend on using him for my "great weapon" version of the bull centaurs. The Bases are a Happy Seppuku base over it into Sculpey, which was broken into shape. The lava is liquitex matte medium layered until the base texture was less visible, then painted. Painted to medium tabletop, with some highlighting. I'm very happy with them. Hthark the Unstoppable
  13. This past week I started the Dark Heroes set from the Bones 1 KS, and painted the two knights: Mangu Timur and Ragnaros, Evil Warrior, from that set. I didn't attempt anything too fancy on them, just did them up for tabletop use. For the full step-by-step painting blog entry, please see: Mangu & Ragnaros

    77055 Anval Thriceddamed, Evil Warrior

It was tough to get a good picture of him. I did what I could. I'd like to know why he is thricedamned... Thoughts?

Was given this for a speed paint for a game a friend is running. They wanted a demonic warrior type. Basically Conan the Evil Barbarian. So came up with this. Went for a weather dusty look for everything. Idea was group come across this beast wandering the desert. Decided to get some use out of GW's Blood for the Blood God technical paint for some quick gore and spatter. Is nice to paint something as have been for the last month and a half splitting my time between work and packing up house in Sydney and then travelling to new home (to be) three hours away and doing renovations on place on weekends. Which unfortunately is not currently set up for painting miniatures or leaving me with much time to paint.

    77247: Pillar of Evil

Pillar of Evil Sculpted by Sandra Garrity The innovative Ub3r sent me this little guy. I decided the base was not good enough. SO I filed it down as best I could then, as you can see, pinned it to a 20mm MDF base. After that I used greenstuff and filled in the gaps. I did leave a large enough gap I could sculpt the greenstuff into a suitable platform. Finally, Primed and washed. I work on this little guy in-between drying periods. I figure I can use him as an interesting marker for wargaming and for all sorts of things in fantasy/sci-fi 25mm gaming. :)

HerzogBrian talked me into this color scheme. I guess it works for an evil cleric.

Hey, look! I actually painted something by Reaper! I filled in the holes on his axe with some green stuff; I thought it looked kinda silly in it's original state. Tabletop paint, as usual for me. I'm still trying to work on my reds. I hope you like him.
  19. Generic Fighter

    Silvervane sent me THIS!

So, I received this Awesome Evil Cleric From Silvervane for the Fall Exchange. I had asked about Non-Metallic Metal since I've never seen it up close and stuff. Well, This arrived recently and it is AWESOME! Have a Look-See! So, Awesome huh? GF
  20. This was a quick paint inspired by a few threads. The detail is in the WIP, which starts here. This was totally fun, though I realized I have no bronze paint, so I mixed up an oiled bronze from black, a dark brown and copper.. and a bit of antique gold. It looked OK by my inexpert eye.

    More Demons!

Couple more demons for my Wrath of the Righteous campaign. This time its a succubus and the innocent new girl in town, Mary Lith. Bases are chaos bases from a recent CMON kickstarter. The marilith is based on a coral snake pattern and the succubus is based on a naked chick. Thanks! Thanks to carnacki for filling me in on the nudity policy which i should have read. The Following links contain nudity (though I dont know why a shirtless man is less offensive than a shirtless woman) Succubus http://i61.tinypic.com/142zdoh.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/okd8vo.jpg http://tinypic.com/m/j5d0df/4 Marilith http://tinypic.com/m/j5d0dg/4 http://tinypic.com/m/j5d0di/4 http://tinypic.com/m/j5d0dk/4

    Boar Demon 77308

Just finished the boar demon from bones II. I thought it would be cool for him to have a supernatural demonic illness, hence the glowing sores. Loved painting this guy. The bones material really lends itself to these larger figures. Hope you like!

Alright, this is less showing off and more about getting critiques about my more recent "ambitious but rubbish" project. I had three goals in mind when doing this one, make him look the part of a nasty angler fish with appropriate coloration, paint corrosion on the copper/brass armor, and attempt to make it look like his lure was glowing with an osl effect. The latter two things I haven't done before and from the looks of this current effort I still need some practice.
