  1. For your consideration, I offer you the Frost Giant King from the Bones 3 Kickstarter. He is the pair to the Frost Giant Queen and I am not disappointed in the sculpt. This miniature (bigature?) is packed with details and a metric-ton of space to paint and practice textures. The level of detail for Bones miniatures continues to impress me. The King and Queen were both primed with Krylon and sealed with Dull Cote and neither exhibits tackiness. The bits that stick out - like the butt of the spear - did rub off when I handled it during painting. I really had to work my way from the inside out to paint this big guy. The fur textures on the fur cape was an enjoyable ride. I look forward to seeing what others do with this team of Giants, and I'm eyeballing the release schedule for the Frost Giant Guards. I recommend purchasing the Royalty as soon as they are available. Gratitude for all who participated in the WiP thread. Your enthusiasm kept me going. #respect #gratitude I hope you enjoy. :)

    77010: Kobolds (6)

Here's some love for the little guys, because it isn't all about the big bads. A gang of nasty, orangey kobolds! -E.E.

    50065: Rex, Dark Future Hero

This is Reaper's 50065: Rex, Dark Future Hero by Tim Prow (there's also a Bones version). As part of my year-end cleaning up of half-done minis, he's a simple tabletop job (given when I started him I cannot lay any claim to this being a fast job). WIP FWIW here.
  4. I painted my first "Bailey Silverbell" Reaper miniature in 2012. I painted another version in between projects over the last few months and gave her a Little Red Riding Hood theme. I loved this Reaper mini back then and I still love it now-- only this time I was able to try my hand at a few more techniques I've learned, including some NMM. If you haven't painted a "then & now" miniature, I hope you try it sometime. It's truly rewarding to see your improvement over the years!
  5. Edit: Since this is now complete, here are before and after photos, so those who don't want to read through the whole process can see the results: before: after: If you want to see exactly how I got from one to the other, read on! ------------ The Bones KS 1 version of "Ellen Stone, Cowgirl" had a badly deformed face. I'll attempt to repair it. It should have looked like this, as the metal version does: But what I got, even after working a bit to build up the nose and do a liner wash, is something so bad my camera can't even autofocus on it:

    77042: Orc Marauder (2)

For the last 3-4/4 for the Feb RP Challenge, 2x of the Orc Marauder as seen in the LTPK. Somethin' feels a little off in the finished product but I can't tack down just what yet Better pics will likely come when I get time to setup/use my lightbox.

    14321: Bowsister

Quick and fun paint job designed to test the paint scheme of brown, red/orange, and yellow. Once I had those done I decided it needed another color so I added the blue. This also solved the issue I was having of what color to paint her headband, tassels, and the jewel on her belt. Any input would be appreciated.

    77051: Orc Stalker (Two Weapons)

sculpted by Tre Manor. Rather happy with this.
