Do yourself a favour and take a look at what's on offer even if you've not backed one of Stonehavens projects before. Lots of unique and fun concepts scattered throughout, Plus they've done things a bit differently and have everything already sculpted and shown. Love the cloaked mysterious strangers.
  2. The Kickstarter is live: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1138228733/moonstone-fantasy-skirmish-game/description This one is for a skirmish game featuring their wonderfully fantastical minis many of which are available in either metal or resin.
  3. Blah, can't win lately. Con, sick, travel, travel, drama....sorry I'm late y'all. Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/72577-resolutionary-painting-challenge-2017-chatterquestions/ All the information you need should be here. Due to the revised format, there will be more than one bonus challenge available for this month. Including a "Hard mode" which Is some combination that may or may not have a source behind it. Your challenge is: 8! Bonus Challenge: The First! September 25th is national comic book day! Paint a mini to resemble a comic book character of your choice (Bonus points* for any from the "League of regrettable superheroes/supervillains" Bonus Challenge: The Second! 3 Families of color only. The 'typical' halloween colors of orange, purple, and black. You can only use colors that have "orange" "purple" or "black" as part of their names, and all 3 colors must be present on the figure. Hard Mode Challenge! Modify a mini (besides the gelatinous cube/large fire elemental) to have an actual flickering light-source inside of it (with the battery concealed somehow), like a jack-o-lantern. The more creative the better, obviously. Good luck *The game is made up and the points don't matter
  4. [MOD]Please use the full SKU and name of Reaper minis in the titles of your Show Off threads, per forum guidelines. You can find this information on the blister card or in the online store. I also like to give credit to the sculptor in a tag, so people can find their favorites. We have a high volume of posts generated from this challenge, which is great! But it's also creating a lot of work for the mods. Ladystorm has already urged folks to comply with these guidelines.[/MOD] Important Change! As an experiment, this project has been moved to be a bi-monthly challenge. The longer time frame theoretically will give less stress to painting, and allow more complex jobs, and more sinister challenges. FAQ Reaper only? - No. If going on vacation, can I paint a mini(s) ahead to cover that time frame? - Yes. Are speed paints acceptable - Yes. Can it be a mini started previously? - Yes. Based or unbased? - Yes. Do minis for exchanges count? - Yes. NEW RULE - Size Equivilancy (This list is subject to change as bones 3 releases) Medium and smaller = 1 ea Simple Terrain (plain floors, walls) = 1ea Complex Terrain (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Terrain/latest/03518 or such) = 2 ea Large (Giants and the like) = 2 ea Huge (Most dragons, Demon Minotaur Lord, etc) = 3 ea Bigger (Kally, Khanjirra, etc) = half of quota – rounded up Colossal ("Tianot,") = quota Due to the variable nature of a CAV I compare them against a generic 28mm figure and the Avatar large figure. I take height and bulk into considering if it is worth 1 or 2 figures. If it's not in this list, it counts as 1. Thunderbird Emperor Ronin Simba Tiamat Katana Tyrant Starhawk Regent Cataphract Silverback Kraken If you have a question on the size, please post it here, and I'll address them individually. Much like last year, the idea is to help those of us that normally paint VERY little, to start painting more. You challenge begins...now! And Our Mantra: Participants: If your name is missing, or you believe your count is incorrect, please PM me. Please note: to make counts easier, you must post in the bi-monthly thread. The objective: To paint 52+ minis throughout the course of the year via bi-monthly quota (each bi-monthly thread will have the quota listed as well as the master list) What qualifies: Darn near anything! Reaper/non-reaper! Any material! Shelf of shame minis from ages long forgotten! Exchange minis! Speed paints! Armies! (Though I'd encourage perhaps something outside the army as well) Any Size! Based/unbased! Etc! (I think that covers everything) Jan/Feb: 8: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/72633-january-and-february-rpchallenge/ March/April: 9: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/73560-march-and-april-rpchallenge/ May/June: 9:http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/74744-may-ish-and-june-rpchallenge/ July/August: 9: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/75639-july-and-august-rpchallenge/ Sept/Oct: 8: Nov/Dec: 9: Again, I request that when tagging your posts, please use "RPChallenge" to help with locating minis from this. 5. Olde World Miniatures latest miniatures kickstarter is now live: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1095811188/welcome-to-the-olde-world The first five minis have now been unveiled. Single minis will be $10 while the mounted minis, due to their large size, will be $20. Looking forward to this as I'm a big fan of their minis and I think a minis only kickstarter should attract more backers and build a stronger and larger customer base for future projects. 6. greetings. I just wanted to suggest, that specify in the catalog of your miniatures if they are made of "plastic, resin or metal" since several times I am confused with the product please and thanks.

Your challenge is: 9! Bonus Challenge: The First! Oh Rats - July 22nd Is attributed as Ratcatcher's Day due to the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. There's too much folklore to get into here - so let's see a ROUS or two! Bonus Challenge: The Second! Richard Nixon made proclamation 4071 as National Clown week. The challenge is to make a character that's not sculpted as a clown, to have the garish appearance of one. (I would say the style of Killer Klowns from outer space works here too) Hard Mode Challenge! Let's combine two of our favorite things, difficult colors and transparent cloth! Paint a mini of your choice using either Red or Yellow transparent cloth. (or is the term Translucent? I don't remember, I'm not done with my first pot of coffee yet.) Good luck
  8. Edit: AH this forum is so unlike what I'm use to I have no idea how to format this sorry! Double edit: All my text is in the pictures what is this forum even help im drowning in quotes and i dont know how to get rid of them So! I just started painting, like... a week ago at most? After a trip to the game store to buy spell cards for our campaigns (4, each with a different dm, of player levels levels 3,1,1,1) we noticed and decided to invest in minis. Since I'm DMing two games (one with players who are not coming back, so likely a dead game, and one thats ongoing) and I'm the crafty one, I'm the most excited, and the one doing the actual painting. I wanted to try out different tequniques on the goblins, so they all look kinda different. I did basecoats on five of them, two black, three brown, and then I painted on with no base (and found that, so far, thats my favorite meathod) I tend to favor crappily drawn maps on manila drawing paper (downside, it has no grids. But we're going to try and get a sheet of plastic and put grids on that, so it can lay ontop my maps.) One big upside is its super easy to make crap ones (that one I spent time on tho) My players derailed into a cave (that the module specifically said "was not covered in this adventure) so I had to improvise. It took me 15min to design the entire cavern dungeon (while my players were writing down spells (this was before we bought spellcards) ) How rad is that for just 15 min and no warning? I named everything random words, so they couldn't tell what was next, or if they were missing anything.
  9. So, we have a thread like this already for Reaper miniatures. I thought it would be a good idea to have one for minis from other companies as well. I have one I'd like to start off with: Red Box Games minis. I think that Havrik may be my current favorite miniature. I haven't seen a painted version anywhere. Handy Havrik Master Guildsman (RBG0045)
  10. FANTASY FOOTBALL - Florence's Knights: Bretonans and Humans by Greebo Games The Bretonans miniatures look good for gaming: knights (one has something precious you could repurpose), town guards, and townsfolk. The Imperial team looks football only.
  11. So today I got my "Pirates" set from Antediluvian Miniatures. Nine days, transatlantic. The set consists of "pirates" who could conceivably be painted to somewhat resemble Inigo Montoya, Fezzik, Vizzini, and the Man in Black, aka Westley the Barn Boy, aka the Dread Pirate Roberts. They sit on my workbench, the primer drying. And while I thought to myself, "These figures will make fine NPCs and guest stars, as well as wonderful showpieces," I also find myself thinking, "It's a durn shame they couldn't have stuck Princess Buttercup in there. And Prince Humperdinck, while I'm thinking about it. And what about the Six Fingered Man? Hell, and Miracle Max? And his wife?" And so, while I wait for the primer to dry, I ask the Group Mind: What figures, from what manufacturers, would be convincing doubles for: *Princess Buttercup *Prince Humperdinck *The Six Fingered Man *Miracle Max *Max's wife?
  12. I'm interested in doing a chess set using Reaper Miniatures. Recommendations please.
  13. Expansion sets for the Blood and Plunder tabletop game. Live on Kickstarter. About this project Blood is on the horizon! The iron grip of Iberian Domination is eclipsing the 17th century Caribbean as the world races to seize its spoils. Join the emerging Dutch Republic as it battles for its place among the established European powers or defy foreign incursion as a Darien King in this expansion to Blood and Plunder, No Peace Beyond the Line. No Peace Beyond the Line is the first major expansion for the Blood and Plunder miniatures game. This expansion will revolve around the No Peace Beyond the Line book that will feature: Optional rules for playing games at a greater scale or with more than two players A campaign system Special characters that players will be able to add to units New units and factions for the existing nationalities New nationalities including the Dutch and Native Caribbeans New ships: Piragua, Fluyt and the Galleon! Factions for expanded nationalities such as Danes, Swedes, Prussians, and Portuguese This Kickstarter allows us to raise the funding needed to expand our product line to this scale in a short period of time as opposed to having slow, continuous releases. Firelock Games is excited to have the opportunity to continue expanding the world and timeline of Blood and Plunder in order to create a more exciting and expansive line for its player base.
  14. RBJ Games most recently had the Infestor Kickstarter, which was delivered on time already. I participated in that one and was happy with the minis I went in for. I like the halfling farmhands best from this current KS.
  15. Quirky miniatures of Grey aliens as characters such as Santa, pirate, Einstein, etc.

About this project What Is This Kickstarter About? The initial Kickstarter goal is to fund the very first WHISPER mecha's masters and production molds. These are the WHISPERs currently available to pick for your rewards. SOKAR/BASTET - KNEELING - (Sokar head shown but also includes Bastet head option) SOKAR/BASTET - STANDING - (Bastet head shown but also includes Sokar head option) History of WHISPER Design Over the course of the last four months, the 3-D sculptors of Marchen Atelier - Heriberto and Gibran - and Tom Anders - of Impact! Miniatures - have collaborated with me in the creation of these miniatures. We've gone from a fantastic two-dimensional art piece done by John Yechan Seung. To a three-dimensional computer export model. Full resolution 3D sculpt by Marchen Atelier. To full three-dimensional miniatures created by Tom Anders through Impact! Miniatures' 3-D printing service after some advice on modifications to the design by Tom. One painted 3d print prototype by Todd Farnholtz next to various 6mm and 15mm miniatures, from Onslaught Miniatures, Khurasan Miniatures, White Dragon Miniatures, and The Ion Age. Now that we have our starting point, I need you, the potential Backers, supporters, and fans, to assist in the creation of the master prints, the production molds, and the base materials. The Master - These are the original masters that can be re-used to create the production molds. The Production Molds - The actual mold wheels that will create the miniatures. Casting Materials - WHISPER mecha will be made of spincast resin. Resin is heated and then injected into the molds, which are spun at a high velocity to fill the molds completely. After cooling, the molds can be separated, and the miniatures removed to begin the process of snipping, partial cleaning, and then bagging for shipping. PLEASE NOTE: All WHISPERs will be sent unpainted. Painted images are just to show you what a WHISPER could look like after being painted. What Is A WHISPER? A WHISPER is a mechanized humanoid war machine, approximately 8.5 meters tall, created initially to perform direct actions against hardened targets throughout the galaxy. Piloted by the most elite, the first generation of WHISPERs were created to allow Powers and Dominions to employ their elite special forces teams in fast raids and rapid deployment in response to imminent threats. The 27th-century version of the U.S. Navy SEAL, USAF JTAC, Delta Force, Russian Spetsnaz, and British S.A.S., WHISPER teams are never to be underestimated. Forty years after the first generation made planetfall on several rogue corporations seeking to commit a heinous terrorist incident on Earth and Mars, technology has advanced at an exponential rate. First- and second-generation WHISPERs are now commonly employed by lesser Powers, while the elite advance into combat in third- and fourth-generation machines. The Only Difference is the Head? With the initial two poses, yes. The Sokar is a beak-like head with a protective armor cover over its sensors, an imposing sight that I thought reflected a combat-worthy opponent. So, I went back to Egyptian times to find a name worthy of a bird that can pursue and destroy prey. High res close-up of the Sokar head in kneeling pose. The Bastet was initially remarked as "Samurai Pizza Cat", or a fox. I can't help but take my friends and supporters at their joke, so, the cat-like Bastet was a perfect name fit. 3d sculpt example of the Bastet head in kneeling pose. What's Beyond That? Stretch Goal #1 - Raptor - $4,500 USD A second-generation WHISPER, the Raptor was designed by the Symbiotic Cyber Consortium in its fledgling years on a limited budget and production capacity. Due to these limitations in technology, they could not install cutting-edge full armored cockpits with augmented reality and neural linkage. Instead, the Raptor had to supplement on high visibility cockpits with less armor, with augmented reality displays. The end result is a machine perfect for atmospheric combat, but incapable of traversing solar systems. Nevertheless, it is an affordable option for Powers on a budget. John Seung's initial concept art of the Raptor. The prototype 3d sculpt created by Marchen Atelier. Stretch Goal #2 - Optional Armaments for Sokar/Bastet - $5,200 USD One of the earliest requests was optional arms for the original WHISPER, to allow hobbyists and gamers alike to swap out arms. Most wargamers and hobbyists are familiar with drilling out a small portion of the arm holes and balls to affix magnets inside. With this Stretch Goal, anyone can purchase the optional arms as an add-on for $5 USD, though certain high-level pledges will receive one set for free. The optional weapons include one holding a Gauss cannon over the standing WHISPER's chest. The second is a missile launcher with arm blade. The other option is a pair of battle-damaged arms. High-res images of optional WHISPER arms. Stretch Goal #3 - Poseidon - $7,200 USD The Poseidon is a second-generation WHISPER designed by the Northern Martian Federation. On the shores of the Federation, the Poseidon acts as a distinct bodyguard, while on exo-planets that are primarily covered in water, it is one of the only WHISPERs that can operate beneath the waves. Thanks to the latest advancements in its hardened armor shell, the most recent versions of the Poseidon can reach depths up to 500 meters without loss of internal pressure. The Poseidon was created by Elartwyne Estole, another fantastic artist I discovered on DeviantArt. Elartwyne was kind enough to grant me the ability to license his own old mecha for WHISPER, and I've hired him on for future mecha sketches and layouts, as well as more detailed art, if we can get that far in the future. Sketch of the base Poseidon. Finalized 3d sculpt of the Poseidon by Marchen Atelier. Stretch Goal #4 - Tundra - $9,200 USD A first-generation WHISPER designed by PAC-NATO to usurp the original Mark II, the Tundra swiftly took off in popularity among other Dominions as a reliable unit. By the time of its fifteenth year in service, however, the Tundra was beginning to be outstripped by second-generation designs. With the Throne Confederacy's Sokar, the Tundra was thought to be an outdated model with no viable use left. However, several lesser Powers were able to modernize and upgrade the WHISPER's sensors and ballistic computers to level it out, and improvements in maintenance areas were made, making after action field repairs far easier. Thus, the Tundra remains on the field of combat as a WHISPER not to be discounted. Tundra sketch by Elartwyne. Finalized sculpt of Tundra with regular armament. Stretch Goal #5 - Poseidon Alternate Arms - $9,800 An alternate set of arms for the Poseidon, removing the Gauss cannon and torpedoes, replacing them with a pair of directed-energy weapons (DEWs, i.e. lasers) in the palms, with elongated claws for close quarters combat. With this Stretch Goal, anyone can purchase the optional arms as an add-on for $5 USD. 3d sculpt by Marchen Atelier. An example of the Poseidon Beta painted by Mastergunz. With More Stretch Goals to Come, Possibly? How Tall Are WHISPER Miniatures? The standing version of the Sokar and Bastet miniature is approximately 47 millimeters tall. I spent awhile going over scale options. Miniature wargames come in all shapes and sizes these days, but for this, I wanted them to be physically imposing enough that when you saw one on the table, you thought, "Okay, that looks like a nasty customer." On final thoughts, I decided to abstract the scale of the game, and simply place WHISPERs in the 10mm range (thus, a 10mm tall infantryman stands at about the height a real human being would to a 8.2-meter-tall WHISPER). However, if you're a wargamer, and you have 6mm, 10mm, or even 15mm miniature infantry, power armor, and tanks lying around, you are free to proxy these into WHISPER for your games. 28mm and 35mm scale wargames can even use the WHISPERs as heavy power armor (or in Infinity's case, mini TAGs) if they so wish. The Poseidon WHISPER, Sokar kneeling WHISPER, next to 6mm and 15mm miniature infantry and power armor troopers (note that Knight and Talos are 21mm models, good for heavy power armor). Another reason to go with the 10mm scale was that I had to consider terrain costs. The wargame I'm creating is intended to be played with heavy cover and concealment (think an urban battlefield, like Infinity, or MERCS). This is one of those things that can cost gamers an arm and a leg to purchase, or, if they're crafty, you can make your own. But time is also a factor there, and not everyone has the hours saved to create massive buildings. 10mm offers a wide variety of affordable but impressive options for terrain. Side by Side of Bastet and Sokar The Universe, and WHISPER Armament WHISPER takes place in the 27th century Anno Domini, and technology has allowed Mankind to spread to roughly 75 different planets (though more are possible, they are usually unchartered colonization and pirate bases, as well as terrorist outposts or "black sites" of the Dominions and Powers of the times). Some are terraformed, some are inhospitable but livable, and others are colonized mostly through Lagrange colonies, ala Mobile Suit Gundam. FTL travel is accomplished through hyperspace 'jumps', a capability provided through Tiggs-Dyson eventium generators as an energy source, and hyper-acceleration devices. Directed energy weapons (i.e. lasers), are the primary armament of almost every standard military force in the universe. They don't fire the intense cutting beams that are a trope of mecha action. Instead, they create a pulsed high-intensity 'blast' that vaporizes on impact. Another high-power weapon system is the Gauss cannon, which utilizes railgun principles to accelerate a metal sabot to a muzzle velocity exceeding Mach 7. How do you dodge something that travels at nearly the speed of light, or a projectile breaking the speed of sound 7 times over? You rely on a limited artificial intelligence matrix and threat-avoidance programming to recognize when a threat emerges, and utilize high-output vernier thrusters and jet packs to juke away from the threat. Plus, you shoot back. The Wargame? It's being worked on, but it is not the end goal of this Kickstarter. This Kickstarter will focus entirely on the initial WHISPER miniatures line. I've decided to emulate Infinity, Heavy Gear Blitz, and other various wargames and boardgames, in that I'll be focusing on releasing the rules in a free version that you do not have to pay to play. However, for those interested I'll be regularly sharing bits and pieces of the universe, and also sharing some of the basics in the Facebook Group for WHISPER: https://www.facebook.com/groups/174693989369987/

March and April 2017 Your challenge is: 9! Bonus Challenge: The First! Given that (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) spring starts in this time frame - Modify (if necesseary) and Paint a figure (doesn't matter what) in a jumping/springing pose Bonus Challenge: The Second! April 22nd is National Jelly bean day. Paint a mini in tribute to your favorite flavor jellybean (bonus* points if you choose tutti fruttti) *The game is made up and the points don't matter. Hard Mode Challenge! "Disrupted" Light source (from any direction but above.) Paint any mini you choose in any scheme you choose, but the lighting must come from the sides or below, as if it was filtering through some other opaque object to disrupt the lighting. Ex: The character is standing close to a chainlink fence, so it casts a 'shadow grid' on them, or perhaps through an old window with thick beams so the there's a large + shaped shadow being cast on them. Again please refer questions to the main thread. Not like there's ANY chance for something on April 1st...
  19. Howdy all! I'm going to start a Mouse Guard group for kids (around 5 to 7-ish years old) soon. I have the mouseling minis for the mice themselves, but I need minis for a wide variety of NPCs and enemies. This is the tentative list I've come up with, based on the core book and the size chart that I attached. I'd like to stay within Bones, but I'm totally okay with spreading out into different Reaper brands. If you folks have any suggestions, it would be much appreciated. I'm mostly looking for miniatures that fit the size categories and look similar to the creature intended (i.e., the Dragon Tortoise for a snapping turtle). If the animal has (Int) in front of this, it has its own society in the world of Mouse Guard, and thus would be wearing clothes, wielding weapons, etc. Thanks for the help! 20. We just launched our Kickstarter for a brand new Ultra Clear Variant of the Xcase, Expandable Transport and Display. Now the XCase not only can transport your figures but it can show them off as well as many much less versatile options. Check it out. <iframe src="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/activemindsgames/xcase-ultra-clear-expandable-miniatures-display-ca/widget/card.html?v=2" width="220" height="420" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>
  21. It really should be shelves and trays and boxes and cases and drawers and cupboards... As I try to get my painting room organized I keep being frustrated by where to put all these assortments of random partially painted, primed, and unprimed but assembled loose figures that I have in every conceivable container. So I decided I should really try to finish some up. They will be a good change of pace or when I'm tired of whatever I'm working on, or good motivation when I'm having trouble getting going (that's why I grabbed some today). Now some of these are big enough groupings that they will get their own threads, like all the Clan War stuff, the entire VOID Syntha army, the Chronopia stuff, etc but the misc bits and bobs will end up here. Starting out we have: I "think" the ballistae and catapult (onager?) were from megaminis. The multi-barrel cannon I picked up at the game store back close to 2 decades ago and have no idea who made it. I haven't done anything to the cannon yet except dust it a bit. The catapult was started, I just finished the wood to match. One ballista had the wood done, I did the other two to match. The "paint" used is the old Reaper Pro Paint Wood Shade Ink. Painting it over straight white primer gives that result. That's how I did wood back in the day..... Not sure what I'd use to highlight it....

January and February 2017 Your challenge is: 8! Bonus Challenge – The First! In honor of having a Friday the 13th, Paint a mini up in your best rendition of a classic horror creature. It does not have to resemble the actual creature/character in physique, just paint job. Bonus Challenge – The Second! A return of our challenge from last year: Fingerpainting! That is, except for priming and sealing, using no other paint applicator besides fingers. And no – enlisting the help of a smaller friend/family member/minion does not qualify. WITH an adjustment this time: It must be a creature of some form or another – no easy ways out with chests/crates/etc. Hard Mode Challenge! Monochrome Microbust: This is easiest with a bones figure for obvious reasons. Take a mini and cut off part of the body so that it resembles an otherwise normal miniatures bust. For purposes of this challenge, the figure must be no larger than a ‘medium’ creature (but should be at least vaguely humanoid) and “Bust†will be defined as – arms no longer than just above the elbow, and chest no further down than the navel. The exception is if the hair goes further down, you may preserve the hair but the rest of the body must still be gone. Monochrome may denote any singular color you want (even grayscale) but you may only use black and white to change the color of the base one chosen. – Please reserve any questions on this challenge for the chatter thread. PLOT TWIST! Hidden challenge: Fancy Date Night Makeover: Paint up a miniature that's wearing normal medieval or sci-fi armor/clothing into a fancy tux/suit/dress appropriate for date night. Minis that are already wearing appropriate date night attire don't count. (Think kind of like those tuxedo tshirts or similar - full plate armor with a suit and tie painted on it or so.)

This Kickstarter is to get the rules and other non-miniature components of Broken Contract into physical print form, with new miniatures as stretch goals. I backed the 1st Kickstarter for the miniatures and they are excellent sculpts and casts, they are also in the add-on section as well as the 2 player starter set pledge, which also contains the 5 KSE minis from the 1st Kickstarter. 25. I finally broke down and bought a 3d printer to play with. After a lot of reviews and investigation, and a long wait time, I finally found myself with a Prusa Mk2 from Prusa's company in Cz republic. the machine came fully assembled and even the very first print was pretty. (a very cute little treefrog) I have since printed a bunch more frogs and Adelaine the dragon (who thinks she's a wolf howling at the moon). and a lot of roadway prints from Fat dragons latest kickstarter As I said the prints are really nice even at the fastest speeds (which are not fast but such is the life of 3d printers.) a 4 inch square road section takes about 2 hours to produce and the machine will handle up to 4 sections at a time on the available bed space. I am including this here so I don't forget and I will put pictures up when I get done with work. My only previous experience with a printer has been a small m3D which was much more finicky and had a real problem with size limitations and I guess I expected the worst, but this has done a great job
