  1. My most recently complete project is the lovely ladies of Oathsworn Miniature's "Heroines in Sensible Shoes 3" Kickstarter. As always, they are a joy to paint. They have nice, bold details but without being overwrought. They definitely look like a bunch of starting adventurers! The theme this time was more exotic races, notably a bunch from "Volo's Guide to Monsters" The ladies ascend the mountain: The Kitsune. She could be a lightly armored Fighter, a Rogue, or a Ranger. The Kenku (or Tengu) Shaman. Or Wizard. Or Sorcerer. Or whatever. She's got a bone to pick with you! The Kenku or Tengu Rogue. I went with oranges for them to continue my previous work on the Bones Tengu...which were also dressed in orange to match the official D&D pre-paints. The Dragonborn, could be a Fighter or Paladin. The decision to make her red was regrettable...with that pointy face and dreads, I kept thinking of Ugandan Warrior Knuckles. Stupid memes getting in the way! Tabaxi or Catfolk. I tried to go with more of a Ranger color scheme than the intended Rogue. The other Tabaxi/Catfolk from the set. I liked the intent of this sculpt...she could be a spellcaster, a Monk, or a Bard! The Halfling Knight. Her mount was painted after my own painting gremlin, Hershey. He would be much smaller to scale, though. The Tiefling Paladin. I really like the pose of this one, though I questioned the hooves, as 4E and 5E Tieflings of this design have human feet. I may wind up greenstuffing her into boots at some point. The Firbolg Druid. As far as I know, this is the only miniature of a 5E style Firbolg. The Minotaur Swashbuckler. I bet you were expecting a cow joke here. The terrain:
  2. I recently got in the latest "Heroines in Sensible Shoes" Kickstarter from Oathsworn Miniatures. I decided to get started on them and take (yet another) break from my in progress Rising Sun minis. As \always, they were nice, clean casts with lots of detail, but nothing over-wrought...which makes sense for low-level adventurers! They're such a joy to paint.
  3. In an effort to reduce the unpainted mini mountain I decided to speed paint some statuary in February. First up Angels of Sorrow, Reaper Bones 77362. For some reason my camera was doing weird stuff, so that is why the lighting is so different between the 2 pics. My second set of Caryatid Columns, Reaper Bones 77378, And my favorite, the Mouse Tomb from Oathsworn Miniatures:
  4. The earliest arrival of my Kickstarter bounty, we have an adventuring group of ladies in sensible shoes (and clothing), and some of their companions and rivals. They may see Frostgrave, they may see Faerun, they may just see a shelf, who knows? The party: The Half-Orc Cleric. I had suggested during the campaign she would also make a suitable Bounty Hunter holding up a wanted poster...I went that route. I regret not trying to draw Flynn Rider, but I never get his nose right. The Barbarian Queen: Tiefling Warlock: Witch or washerwoman Monk: Paladin: Noblewoman: Brigand. He must be after the shoes. Dwarf Queen: Thief
  5. The Heroines in Sensible Shoes Kickstarter was the first Oathsworn set I picked up, and I found them greatly inspiring. I tried out some new techniques; I flocked around the entire rim of the base due to their shape, and tried out a new method for fire. Not sure how I liked the end result on the fire, and I'll see how much flock lies on my shelves before I judge that. First, my favorite of the set, the Half-Orc Barbarian: The Human Fighter: A Wee Folk Rogue...she's billed as a Halfling, but I mean, c'mon, she's wearing shoes (sensible ones at that). Dwarf with a big hammer: The Forest Gnome Ranger, painted up as a Goblin instead. I find my collection lacking in Goblinettes (Goblinesses? Goblinas?) The Bard: The Dragonborn Sorceress, with her awesome bone staff: Some sort of Wizardy type: A very impatient villager: A nest of very bad things: And finally, some group shots who couldn't keep everyone in focus (woops)

    Damned Desolation (Diorama)

DAMNED DESOLATION She stood before the undead, calm as a frozen winter lake... the zombies and skeleton advanced, their hungry eyes boring into her own, yet she stood still, her Staff of the Twin Suns raised and a prayer upon her lips... The lead zombie took one more step upon the magical rune and suddenly it and its companions were blown back, the earth erupted and the small canal of sewage rose in response to the divine power that was unleashed by Velicia Torynn, cleric. She shoved them all back against the wall to end their undeath once and for all... She couldn't stop now, she had others to help and other Damned to Desolate... -------------------------------------------- Here we go, I loved the cleric figure so much that I decided to go ahead and build a diorama around her as the star of it. The premise came into my head that she uses Divine Magical Runes of protection and destruction to desolate the undead. Figures: Lady Faelwen Nightsinger (her own show-off for more pics of her is here) Adepticon 2015 Exclusive Sculpted by Patrick Keith of Bombshell Miniatures Zombies are Reaper Bones Zombies Skeleton is Reaper Bones Skeleton Rat is Reaper Rat that I got from the boneyard, so I can't link it now. Crate and Barrel are resin pieces from Oathsworn Miniatures WIP for the figure (and the vignette) C&C are welcomed and greatly appreciated! Thanks for looking

    Oathsworn Terrain - 2 walls

Here are 2 walls from Oathsworn Miniatures, that I painted to test out my color scheme, before I do the rest. These are painted using mainly with craft paints bought specifically for terrain painting.
