  1. ^^ So that's the link to the WIP thread for this guy. He did not turn out to be a fastish paint job. He turned into my experiment. I put more work into highlighting the hair than I usually do. I got his bald dome more shiny than I have for past skin tones. I've done bits of freehand before, but this is the first fabric pattern freehand I've done (turned out a bit thicker than I would have preferred, but I still like it). First NMM for me ever. I may have been better off with a classic sword or straight line sort of thing, but ehh... this turned out okay for a first shot, I think. The axes took 3-4 hours And for good measure, I scuffed up his boots in the "sand", and put a shadow of him on the sand. I got my nice camera rolling, but not I am re-learning it. Got a diffused ring LED attached to it for lighting. Just a piece of gray-blue construction paper in the background. Comments, critiques, shrieks of "what in the heck is this junk?!" all welcome!
  2. Ok, I finished enough to not feel too bad letting her leave the desk and sit on the shelf! Whooo! This is Shennay, one of the busts from the Spanish company AresMythologic. I'm enjoying painting busts so much when I tried to go back to 54 mm this weekend I got irritated that I couldn't put all the detail in the face and eyes like I wanted! Heaven forbid a return to 25 mmm!! She's 1/12th scale resin, comes all in one piece and was fairly easy to prep so she's a friendly starter bust. For this project I decided to practice my transparent cloth, whites, freckles, red hair and TMM. I wanted to play with complementary colors, so this is done mostly in red and green. I used the red to shade the green as well. My WIP is here with some details including the colors I used. Enjoy! C&C always welcome and if I can explain anything or help out, let me know! Because of the transparent cloth effect, I've linked the naughty pics: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0k4trgyx0daer7a/shennay19.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/3752mpjqpnxzh17/shennay22.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/nvi7xiy96hxbzd9/shennay23.jpg?dl=0 Here are a few others that are safer: Sometimes she reminds me of Ce'Nedra... except, er, bustier.

    02110: Darby Darkleaf

This is 02110: Darby Darkleaf, or rather one of a set of three, 03359: DHL Classics: Female Halflings. They are not quite identical, since the individual figure has a larger base than the three in the set. All three halflings in the set are tiny and Old School style, with especially small faces with eyes that are shaped a little difficult to paint. They are, however, very cute. I painted her eyes rather larger than they were actually sculpted. I think this might be the first time in twenty years I've tried to paint a mini red-blonde. I'm not sure how successful she turned out.
  4. This is one of my favorite halfling sculpts. Melantha is smaller than some other recent halflings (like the statuesque Elia Shadowfeet Mark II), but I like her attitude. There's so much life and movement in this sculpt!
  5. I did quick paints of the five Bones pirates. This is the second, Barnabus Frost. I pictured him as one of those red-faced redheads, a little WC Fields.
  6. Lathula, Female Barbarian, Reaper 03019, sculpted by Ben Siens, painted by me. I like half-orcs. They always seem to be painted with black hair, but I figured since orcs don't have hair it would be the human parent who provides the hair color. So why not a redhead? I didn't paint her hair shiny, though, because it kind of looks greased up and pulled back. I used this figure in my tutorial on how to paint illusionistic grass.

    02994: Noreth Skyblade, Elf

Well, this guy has been done for a while, but I only just got around to shooting him, it was such a nice day, i was able to use God's own lightbox. I'm quite happy with this guy.
