  1. After getting totally inspired and having the day off work today, I was able to kick out the Deadpool bust! I wanted it as close to the comics and movie as possible, so I went for a super shiny look and actually spray coated it in gloss, it looks a lot better in person than I was able to capture in the pics, but the pics aren't horrible. WIP thread is located here. C&C are welcomed and appreciated.
  2. I saw amazing French sculptor Gautier Giroud posting up WIP pics of this amazing bust and knew I just HAD to have him, picked him up from Cinemodeles-creations. He's jumped up in my queue today while I'm home from work on a personal day. Here's the the cast in resin pieces, held together by some blue tack so I could take the pics of the resin - I've used my airbrush for the first time today, primed up Deadpool and 4 giants (the giants first to get the hang of the airbrush). Here's where he's at now - I drilled holes in his nose so that I can do the smoke sniffing scene as it's meant to be from the movie, which I'll probably use cotton or some other material to complete the effect. Going to get started on some painting of him now.
  3. Happy B-Day Ub3r!!!
  4. EDGE OF OBLIVION After many miles climbing the mountains of his homeland, Torgar the Barbarian had finally caught up to the two thieves who had stolen his family heirloom, his grandmother's axe which had been used to cut the head off the great orc chieftain Yarvak. He had found their trail and followed it through the blizzard. He was raging after he had shown them hospitality and drinks, they had slipped a drug into his drink and stolen the artifact.... Now was the time for the reckoning! "VENGEANCE SHALL BE MINE!!!!" Roared Torgar, after taking the head off the first thief and showing it to the other. "YOU HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO FLEE TO LITTLE THIEF, HERE IS YOUR EDGE OF OBLIVION!!!!" The lone dwarf dropped the artifact and realized his folly, he could jump off the cliff to his death or have his head removed from his shoulders like that of his friend... -------------------------------------------------------------------- This was a really fun project, it took me a while to get started on it and took me a couple of weeks to finish as I wanted to make it a display piece and be able to enter it into a couple of contests, one of which will be ReaperCon 2017. Torgar the Barbarian, Limited Edition 72mm resin figure from Terrible Kids Stuff Random Encounter! 54mm resin figure from FER Miniature Base scratch built out of bark and milliput along with frit and snow flock Shoutout to Thrym for putting together the placard for me! WIP HERE Thank you all for following along and your comments/critiques are greatly sought after and appreciated!
  5. While at ReaperCon 2016, I hit up the melt bin and found 3 distinctly different parts of 3 different figures. The first one was torso of 03465: Shaerileth, Spider Demoness, the second was a snake's tail (not sure from what or even if it's Reaper let me know if you know what it is!) and the third looks like it's a tentacle from the 02634: Well of Doom. These are NSFW due to the nude portion of the top of the figure and so I'll link to my Facebook pics that I've posted up. Here's the pieces as I pulled them from the melt bin. Pic 1 - all separate Pic 2 - test fitted using museum putty Pic 3 - glued and green stuff putty putting it together Pic 4 - another angle Pic 5 - yet another angle
  6. Decided to start painting this awesome barbarian up as part of the Hobby Hangout Competition that's going on right now! Torgar the Barbarian Limited edition: 100 copies Concept: Roberto Cirillo Sculptor: Raul Garcia Latorre Material: Resin (Bigchild Creatives) Pieces: 10 Weight: 66gr Scale: 1:24 (75mm)
  7. Now that our new house is done and we are unpacking, living in it for 11 days as of the time of this posting. I wanted to go ahead and start up a WIP thread showing my hobby/game room and the WIP as the last few days I've been setting it up so that I can paint. My OCD won't allow me to actually paint (even though I have an area for it now) until I have the rest of the room cleaned up and organized! Let's start up with the original plans - And here it is after it was done, a blank slate!
  8. As many of you know, my wife and I are building a new home, quite a few of you have asked that I have a WIP thread full of pics of the progress as we go along. The house will take 5 months to build and we'll be stopping by every week I'm sure to check it out and see how far along they are. So this is going to be the journey of the Buildening! First off, here are the floor plans. We opted to add the "Game Room" off the back of the garage. Timeline is that they will start the actual breaking of ground and the trenching this upcoming Monday (June 13th). I'll snap a pic of the untouched lot this weekend and post it in here for posterity. In the new house, I'll have 2 rooms to myself: A hobby studio/game room (which is the "Study") in the floor plans. I had a couple of changes to the plans and customized it for myself. I'm having the builder get rid of the linen closet in the bottom right corner that is accessed by the hallway. This will square up the room and give me a few more feet of square footage to do with however I want. I'm having the builder remove the large sliding glass door on the north end of the room (east in the actual design) and replacing with 2 large windows that open up. I don't need outside access to this room. A receptacle will be added to the center of the room for my game table, which I plan on building myself. The game table will have a large flat screen television inserted into the center of the table to be used as a monitor for the DM's laptop, this way we can use downloadable maps and be able to really get into the worlds we create. I'll also have outlets on the sides of the table so that the guys can plug their devices into it and no cords are strewn across the ground. My table will be much the same as the one linked, but a bit longer and able to seat 8 comfortably if our group grows. Right now there are 6 of us, but we've been a group of 7 and 8 a few times. A wood shop (which is the 3rd car garage) in the plans. I'm having the builder add a sink in the top right corner of the garage. Going to have them put additional receptacles in the room for the power tools I'll add, and all of them will be at a greater height, thinking 4 feet up so that it's easy to plug tools into the outlets and not having to crawl under work bench to do so. I'll put in (after the build) a door between the 2-car garage and the workshop, not going to pay the builder to do that when we know some guys who can do it easily and cheaply. This will make sure minimal saw dust is floating around and getting onto our cars. Going to add one of those in-room air conditioners/heaters to keep it cool/warm when needed. Flooring will need to have some grip to it, so I'm going to look into what I can add to make it safer and not slip on the sawdust as sawdust on concrete is like ice. Going to do some research and see how much more power I'll need to add to the breaker box so I don't cause circuits to be overworked. Anyhow, I'm also open to suggestions about hobby room/wood shop ideas from everyone if you want to chat with me about what you think I should have or would be awesome to add to the rooms (as long as it's not part of phase one of the build as that's all locked up now). 9. After getting FeR's "Random Encounter" Dwarf (54mm scale), I have seen him painted up so many awesome and different ways hiding, being weary/cautious, about the be attacked, looking frightened, etc. I wanted to try my hand at him as well, so I literally scratch built a tree out of Beesputty and floral wire to have a large "hand" and skulls pressed into its trunk, giving it a very creepy and sinister vibe. Anyhow, this is just another project I'll be working on for fun, maybe take it to ReaperCon this year too.
  10. This is entitled "Hardened Warrior" he is the Barbarian bust by Fantastic Miniatures. I'm bringing him to ReaperCon! C&C are welcomed and appreciated!
  11. So while at ReaperCon this year one of the vendors was selling various sizes of this Collapse Industries Alien Bust. I completely missed out on him and was a bit sad/disappointed about it when SGHawkins showed him to me claiming she purchased the last two of him. When she saw my disappointment, she laughed and tossed one of her two my way. I was super excited, it's outside my genre, but looked like a lot of fun to paint. I was suddenly struck with an idea to give him a bowl haircut and evil goatee. I approached Mori, but she was very busy with classes and art stuff so I figured why not ask another forum friend and amazing sculptor Talespinner if he'd be willing to smoosh together the mods. He was more than happy at my crazy idea and did it while I was in a class! Again, THANK YOU SG & ANDY!! Here's the WIP for this fun figure!
  12. This figure was done as part of the Reaper Forums 7-Day Goblin Challenge. The rules were simple 7 Days and no brush larger than a 0. All prep included in the 7 days. I got it done in 14 hours flat within 5 days. I painted the "statue" face to be a real face, I envision it as a trapped Titan. Today is day 6 and here are the final pics! VOTE FOR HIS FATE IN THE POLL ABOVE!!
  13. Here my latest finished figure! I did her for the a White Wolf Minuatures contest that ends tomorrow and I'll also bring her along to ReaperCon this year. This is Lagertha Lothbrok the Shieldmaiden or "skjaldmær" in Old Norse. I went with a mix of gritty realism and fantasy. What I pictured in my head: She's just finished a battle of epic proportions, she's coated in the blood of her enemies and standing alone in a world that has gone mad, the ground cracks and erupts and blue light pours forth illuminating her and she looks around for the next enemy to slay... I've got a bunch of pics of different angles so it's picture heavy. C&C are welcomed and appreciated, thanks for looking!
  14. The Fallen Orc from Norsgard Miniatures! Bringing this to ReaperCon! C&C welcomed and appreciated!
  15. Final pics of my most recent commission piece "Daylor Incandenza" the Elf fighter to be used by a friend of the client who commissioned me in their upcoming pathfinder game. I was given some guidelines and requests to be more customized: 1) Fall Color scheme 2) Basing as dungeon 3) Tabletop+ for use at the table and display when not played with 4) Seal nicely (sealed 3x) 5) Swap dagger for a longsword Figure: Elladan, Elf Manufacturer: Reaper SKU #02543 Material: Metal Sculptor: Werner Klocke WIP Thread Anyhow, here we go. C&C are welcomed and appreciated!
  16. RAGE AGAINST MA'SHEEN Torgils knew he had to hurry, his rage fueling his mighty thews as he raced down the steps into the evil wizard's sanctum... he encountered a large iron bound door and without hesitation he laid into it with his axe, the door fell before him like wheat before a scythe... Standing before an ancient altar of evil was his nemesis, the vile wizard Severus and upon the altar was a beautiful young princess... He raced into the room as Severus spoke the incantation to bring forth the Elder God...Ma'sheen... time seemed to slow as Torgils raised his axe on high and rushed forward to do battle... For this piece, I wanted to create a scene that would evoke the essence of Conan and give a sense of action and danger. Some of you followed along with my WIP of it and saw the evolution, gave me valuable feedback (thank you!) and finally I completed it in time to enter it into the Las Vegas Open, a local convention with a painting competition. I entered the "journeyman level" as I'd never won any contests before and was awarded a Gold Pin for the piece. Which, from what I understand, is a lot like Reaper's medals for individual works. Figures: Torgils "the black wolf" from Catacombes Le Regne Sombre, sculpted by Fancagne Didier. Severus from Enigma - ENM3038 Altar of Evil w/ Victim - Reaper SKU 02580 (didn't use the candles) Arms from Eldritch Demon - Reaper SKU 77113 Tentacles from Reaper's Creature Components - SKU 03334 Scratch built shelf and desk Special thanks to Thrym for doing the banner/title for me to be placed on the front of the piece. C&C are welcomed and appreciated, thanks for looking!
  17. I present to everyone my first 54mm figure... DRACO THE BARBARIAN!! This was a heck of a lot more fun than I thought it would be and easier to paint than I assumed. The Figure is Draco The Barbarian from Ares Mythologic. He strode from the ruins having pillaged the ancient treasures and surveying the land before him for yet more plunder... Draco knew the time of high adventure was at hand and he couldn't wait to drive his enemies before him and hear the lamentation of their women! Thanks for looking and please leave any C&C that you'd like EDIT: NEW PICS!!! These are the new pics with the tweaks done to it for more grass, ivy, flowers, plinth and name plaque. Thanks to everyone for looking and for the C&C!!
  18. Figured I'd go ahead and get started on this for my own and work on him this week while I get ready to do a Commission piece next week. This is the recent Barbarian Bust that I received from Fantastic Miniatures yesterday. I couldn't wait to get started and he's been a lot of fun thus far!
  19. Getting this prepped and ready for ReaperCon!
  20. Getting this prepped and started for ReaperCon! She'll be my Kabuki manufacturer's contest entry.
  21. As if I don't already have a bunch on my plate... I saw this gorgeous figure was going OOP and it was on sale for 50% off with free shipping from Spain... I HAD to get her. Lagertha Lothbrok from the History Channel's "Vikings" is a beautiful, powerful, intelligent, and amazing character. I also saw that White Wolf Miniatures is doing a painted contest for her this month and now I'm working on the resin beauty as a change of pace and am inspired to paint my first 75mm figure! Pease join me on this fun journey and give me comments, advice, and no holds barred critiques! SKÓL!!!!!! Here's where I'm at today so far. Primed, cleaned, and based. I'm doing some pre-highlighting. Here's where her shield will be next to the skullz of her enemies!
  22. This is a quick tabletop commission piece I did for one of my friends who I play D&D with. His Dwarf Wizard likes to mix things up with his axe as well as spells. He also has an earth elemental that he summons as a familiar, which is what I attempted to recreate on the base with cork and bark. The figure is Dwarf Heavy Fighter from Hammer & Forge Miniatures. C&C welcomed and appreciated, thanks for looking! Edit to add another angle of the elemental familiar.
  23. Doing a quick tabletop commission piece for one of my D&D buddies again. This character is a fighter who decided to go into wizardry and still likes to get in the grill of his enemies to unleash axe and spells. Need to finish this guy up this week since next Saturday is D&D game day.
  24. Starting Friday, September 2, 2016 through Friday September 9, 2016 I will be doing the Kaly 7-day Challenge! This all started with me opening my big ole trap... If I owned him, I would take you up on the challenge! And Bryan calling me out on it! So I was voluntold! Then this happened... The challenge will be following the standard rules! (Rules re-posted here for clarity) 1. You may use no brushes larger than Size 0. As Size 0 can vary by company and brand, the average bristle dimensions are 10mm long by 1mm wide. When selecting brushes, try to be as close to this guideline as possible. 2. You have 7 full days to complete from your posted start time (including a picture with a time stamp from a phone or computer screen is helpful to establish this) to complete the model. 3. All visible areas must be painted, and all paint must be applied with a regulation brush. 4. No drilling, filing, mold line removal or other prepwork is permitted before start time. The only preparation allowed is to dry fit your pieces to make sure the model is complete, and do any boiling and reshaping necessary to correct warpage and return the model to "factory spec". You may also clean the pieces with soap and water. 5. All pieces as included in the box set at retail must be painted. This includes, for example, the 5 adventurer figures included with Dragons Don't Share 2. The official start time for this competition is:
  25. For an upcoming game (next year) I'll be running a level 1-20 campaign in a new world in which the players themselves were Gods before the Fall. Technology and magic have replaced the Gods, there is NO divine magic, no clerics or paladins of gods. It's been 1,000 years since people worshiped the gods. They've been forgotten, they were no longer needed, but the time has come where the Gods are reborn as mortals and must walk the earth and regain their powers, regain their followers, and regain their godhoods! This is the premise for my next game. The players will all be a bit more powerful than standard adventurers, they will 'unlock' some of their memories of their former selves every level, they will find ancient texts and temples to themselves, they will have Divine Powers which will unlock at certain tiers that deal with their chosen domains (chosen at character creation). Divine magic is only held by these Broken Gods as they harness it from their selves, there will be other evil Broken Gods trying to complete these labors/quests before them and ascend as well, they will be the only others with divine powers in the world. The help I'm needing right now is that the idea I have is to give these Broken Gods "trials," "quests," and "labors" (think the Labors of Heracles) for them to complete at every level from 1-20. I'm thinking they obviously get more complicated/difficult every level starting with very simple and easy at level 1 to proving they are truly god material at level 20 to finally ascend back into the heavens. What I'm asking for are your best ideas about what kinds of quests, trials, and labors I could toss at them whether they are to kill a mythical beast, recover a certain artifact, save a prince/princess, etc and what level you think would be appropriate, remember they are going to be more powerful than normal adventurers almost gestalt types. I'll choose the 20 best ideas and place them into my game!
