  2. After I started working on my Soviet Russian girls, I soon noticed that I missed some usable terrain. So it was time for me to start making some. I checked my stuff and ... unfortunately I didn't have got any usable terrain. But I had some 28mm Warhammer 40k barrels and boxes. So ... what to do with those? ... Luckily I am a person full of ideas and dreams and melancholy. So I remembered back in the days when I was young, I played a game called "Blitzkrieg". "Blitzkrieg" was a lovely game using a lovely graphic engine for displaying things. And they had this wonderful supply depot, which I think would be perfect First off I have have to prepare some boxes to later have a good foundation for the blanket. ... which ended in in looking like this: Time to paint!
  3. I thought I would start my own Frostgrave terrain thread, since I started on my second ruin this week, and don't see my self stopping anytime soon. And, I didn't want to keep posting links in David's excellent Frostgrave terrain thread found here, http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/65272-frostgrave-terrain/ , and detract from his efforts. For those that missed it, I already posted my first ruin here in the Frostgrave thread in the Fantasy sub-forum: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/63635-frostgrave/?p=1252554 This week, I thought I'd take things to another level and try my hand at a two-story ruin... Two improvements I wanted to try this week were to add more debris on to the base; and to mount the building on a squared base to help it feel more like an urban building. The main structure is made from cork tiles, and the extra details are made with balsa and bass wood. IMG_5605 by cnjpalmer IMG_5606 by cnjpalmer
  4. Weather in the UK is awful right now. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/live/2018/feb/28/uk-weather-beast-from-the-east-batters-britain-for-second-day-live Are UK forumites doing OK?

    Ice Troll Cometh!!

This is my entry into a local Con's painting competition in the single figure category.
  6. Here's another recent paint. It still goes along with the Reign of Winter AP theme, though I don't know if the Adventure Path has a Polar Bear or not. This figure represents an example of "It looked better in my head." I tried following some pictures of polar bears on the web: It seems some are very yellowed (not necessarily in the shadows), and some are very white. So, I started with a base of 50/50 Golden Blonde/Linen White, and successively lightened it up to white, and left the darker color in the shadows. I thought the fur quality on this BONES sculpt is very good, so it lent itself well to a mix of drybrushing and picking out individual strands with the brush. I tried something different for the snow on the base, just some puddles of white glue that I then painted with Ghost White and Pure White. C&C Welcomed.

77437 Winter Wolf, by Sandra Garrity

Also to go along with our Reign of Winter campaign. This is the BONES Winter Wolf. I had the most fun with the eyes. Some of the pics came out a little dark, despite 3 lights. It must be a camera thing... C&C Welcome.
  8. I haven't posted much lately. Work and life have been busy. We have been playing Reign of Winter. The GM told me there would be some Snow Goblins. I thought these Bones Gremlins look a lot like Pathfinder Goblins, so I gave them a wintry paint scheme and some snowy bases. C&C Welcome
  9. This will be where I post my Frost Grave Terrain. First up will probably be an improvised fountain, made from a leftover plastic container and the water weird (77310) mini Also Dave Graffam's Tall Ruined Wall. I'll be doing that tomorrow with bristol board and going to the print shop to print some stuff in color. There's no Glue Stick so only priming and dry-fitting of the fountain
  10. Hey guys! My excited ramble and snowglobe idea list: The Questions: Google says exposed pewter can corrode, I would think that properly primed, painted, and sealed minis would be safe, correct? I would want the paint to be waterproof. Does anyone have any experience with waterproof sealers? Especially ones that aren't super shiny? Would it be better to put the Reaper sealer on, then the waterproof? Material - I've found a seller for no-seam glass globes that are 4"/100mm diameter. Would it be safer to find a plastic globe, and then find some sort of scratch protectant? Distraction - any animal-safe, waterproof sealers? Because oh my goodness fish aquariums. Cthulhu fish tank. The Answers: Materials and Painting: Globes: Floaties: Liquids: Thanks in advance! Edit: I said I wasn't going to ramble and I did... Edited to fix my inability to type reasonably when excited. I will be adding more information as I find the time!
  11. When I first saw the thread over on the Terrain Forum, where lowlylowlycook was painting up Kalladrax to use as Frostgrave terrain, I thought that it was a really cool idea; and I decided I wanted do the same for my Frostgrave games. So, I picked up a copy of Kalladrax, and last Thursday I got started on the project, and just finished up yesterday. If you'd like to see the full step by step Work-in-Progress thread, please see here on my Frostgrave Terrain thread; otherwise, on to the photos! :) I'm really happy with how this piece came out. I think it will be quite the show-stopper when used as the centerpiece on my Frostgrave table at upcoming conventions.
  12. This week I completed the Warg figure from the Bones II original figures set. I didn't realize he was a Warg when I started painting him; I just assumed he was a large wolf. So, I decided to paint him as an Arctic Wolf because, as with the rest of the animals I've been doing recently, I was painting him up for Frostgrave. A always, C and C welcome.
  13. Continuing the WIP from http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/64819-lexomatics-fall-2015-wip I'll be working on my shelf of shame minis, trying some bones 2 anhurians, some outstanding hearthstone minis, and maybe some more animals and skeletons, and ice walls and slimes. Also some zombicide crows (as lots of different birds
  14. This week I finished up the Canine figure from the "Bones 2" KS Original Figures set. He is part of the Animal Companion set in Reaper's online store. I chose to paint it up like a Wild Dog, one of the Creatures encountered in Frostgrave. Nothing fancy, just a tabletop paint job. C and C welcome.

    Snow Leopard (77216) (Bones)

This week I painted up the big cat figure that came with the Bones II KS original set of figures. He belongs to the Animal Companions pack in the online store. I chose to paint him as a Snow Leopard to use in my Frostgrave games. I just did a quickie tabletop paint job on it, but am pleased with the results. As always, C & C welcome.
  16. This week I found time to start the Bedeviled Set from the Bones I Kickstarter, and completed a nice tabletop paint job on Sinessa, Hellborn Sorceress. When I was looking at the figure and considering how I wanted to paint her, I thought she might work good as some kind of ice demon for my Frostgrave games, so I decided to paint her in a more wintery paint scheme. I also thought I would experiment with the techniques presented in MonkeySloth's Ice Base tutorial http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/43463-tutorial-creating-ice-bases/?p=605514 As always, C & C are welcome. I'm very pleased with how she turned out, and think she looks suitable frosty. :)

Ice Storm in Texas and Oklahoma

The Ice Storm in Texas and Oklahoma is winding down, but I was wundering-does anyone in Texas and\or Oklahoma have any storm reports? (e.g., ice accumulation\accretion, snow\sleet accumulation, power outages, road conditions, etc.) As I live in Illinois, I am just getting plain ole rain. Had a flash flood watch this morning. Any reports?

    Feiya, Iconic Witch: Bones (89008)

This week I completed Feiya, Iconic Witch from the Bones I Kickstarter Iconics and Officially Licensed Pathfinder Miniatures set. I did this figure because my playtest of the Frostgrave rules last week made we want a properly winter based figure to act as Apprentice to my Illusionist wizard. I had pressed Cassie the Gnome Wizard in to duty as the Apprentice, but was not happy with her green grass base. Meanwhile, I felt Feiya looked suitable wrapped up for cold weather adventuring. So many of the remaining wizard figures I have yet to paint just don't look dressed for a winter trek. I'm really pleased with how she came out. The Frostgrave rules say that Illusionists dress in bright, multi-colored outfits, and I wanted to bring that across in this Apprentice. My thinking was that she is young and still enjoys playing with colors and different appearances. The figure I'm using as my older Wizard, (see: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2015/01/anirion-wood-elf-wizard-figure-132-of.html ) is more jaded and knows the wisdom of sometimes using camouflage and blending in. For the full write-up on my painting of Feiya, please see my Bones blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2015/09/feiya-iconic-witch-figure-169-of-265.html
  19. And here is the second miniature SGHawkins09 painted for me for the Summer 2015 exchange. It is 60034 Seoni, Original Version. Also painted in a winter theme to match her earth elemental summoned creature. This figure was in response to my comments about having very few female miniatures painted up, PC or villain. Also, I have a little one who is starting to watch more and more children's movies. So, you may recognize this version of Seoni from a certain cold-themed animated movie! I love these colors, the basing, and above all, the face and eyes are out of this world! I know you'll enjoy her too.
  20. OK Everyone. I'm so jazzed by the minis SGHawkins09 sent me for the 2015 summer exchange. This was the Bone Earth Elemental 77185 painted in an ice/snow theme, based as such. It might be a great proxy for a certain Disney Movie all the kids know by heart these days... She fogot to take pictures, so I did her the honor. She should be very proud of her work. I love how in certain shots/angles, the snow effect looks like it's melting! This figure and its partner have taken up front positions on the Shelf of HonorTM

Painted Ice Troll (77344) Bones II

This week I completed the Ice Troll from the Bones II "Expansion Pack I". I'm particularly pleased with how his face came out. For the step-by-step painting write-up, please see my Bones painting blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2015/06/ice-troll-bones-ii-figure.html
  22. Alright. It's time for my information gathering campaign to begin for our next painted mini exchange! Thanks! First off, let me just thank everyone for being so enthusiastic about this. It's been an incredible experience to have everyone take to this so well. This round I'll be retaking all questionnaires, even if you've done this before. I've got a slightly more comprehensive survey, this time around, and it will really help me out with match-ups to start from scratch on this. Now, the rules... 1. Reaper mini is the focus. If you want to do more, go for it, but I want to see a Reaper product front and center! 2. Please don't contact each other unless you and your person both have listed themselves as okay with contact. I've included it on the questionnaire, so you'll know who wants to keep it secret and who doesn't! 3. Love what you do and continue being as awesome as ever Deadline: March 1st, 2013. I'm giving you all a good long lead time, a bit less than last time, but I sort of ate up the season a bit with the Secret Sophie, so I hope that's okay and apologize. About my painter: Now, because I still have no idea how to do a fair shake at picking my own person, but I don't really want to bother Bryan again, I'm going to keep it simple. The first person to message me, volunteering to paint my mini is it (it also makes it easy to just quickly send my info)! I'll let you know that you are the person and then I'll post here that I'm taken care of. Sound good? I hope so! Below is the questionnaire. Fill it out completely, even if you just put "don't care", "nothing", "no". Anything is better than nothing and I promise that this time, I'll be able to keep them for as long as I'm running these and won't have to ask for the info from regular participants. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Figure Exchange Questionnaire -Mailing Infomation- Name: Address: -Miniature Information- What you can paint (monsters, PCs, women, undead, demons, etc): What you want (Mouslings, necromancers, warriors, dual-wielders, etc): What you DON'T want (gross, nudity, undead, kobolds, animals, etc): Material you want to receive? Bones, Resin, Metal, or Any Desired Color Scheme (for those who want something for their army)?: Scenic Base, basic base, plain base, or unbased?: Would you be willing to paint and receive multiple miniatures?: -Personal Information- Will you ship internationally?: Would you like to remain anonymous until your mini is sent?: Would you like to know who is painting for you?: Is there anybody you would prefer not to paint for (please include why)?: Special Requests (For me, your painter, or your recipient): ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Assignments Deadline The final bit of info for you all is my personal deadline for assignments. I'll be messaging out the assignments January 13th, 2013. This is only 2 days before the Secret Sophie Deadline, and just about everyone is done anyway, so I feel we're safe here. It gives everyone 7 weeks to complete their mini, so I hope you all have enough time. It you need more time, please, feel free to ask, and we can work something out! I know that everyone is pretty forgiving about this, myself included. I just put these dates on things to give you urgency, not stress And finally, good luck, have a blast, and remember, you're all the best!

    Companions in the Cold

I am new to all of this. Reaper site, painting, basing....but it is a lot of fun so far. :) It is something I wanted to do since I was a kid, but never really understood how. I was petrified of ever starting again. I remember when I had gobbed model paint all over the grenadier figures my Pop got me. This seems to be a step up from those days. Also, I don't plan on doing eyes, I probably could, but I honestly don't care for the look of them on minis. Just a personal preference. I hope you enjoy my work as I have enjoyed everybody elses on here. :)

    02483: Mangu Timur

It's been about a year since i really painted anything, so I went with this guy. He was alot of fun. Base was sculpted using Apoxie sculpt. Love working with that stuff. I am not a fan of NMM, so I have been really working to try and make my metallics look better. I am fairly happy with the way he came out. Also trying to push myself to work with and understand color theory. I tend to fall into the category of using every color I own on every miniature. I photographed this using my D7000 with my 105mm nikon lens on it. F/11 shutter speed at about 80 I believe. I use a remote to fire the camera. I setup a photo station in my basement where it is dark so the only light it coming from my three reveal bulbs.
