Steel Griffins Roster

Recommended Posts

I inventoried all of my minis the other night so I could start planning out my Ritterlich army and decided to sort my models out by paint schemes. Seems I have 84 models painted up for my good ole Griffins. So I took a break for work and broke out an army list. Its even legal!

Total Points: 18,417 - some upgrades to the infantry and some strikes will easily get me up to 20k

Don't crucify me if I got a section or two illegal. That's a lot to sort though!

Its funy, that when you read the list, it just doesnt seem like a huge list. But, I know that on the table, that would be massive. But, sounds like it would be a blast to play against at some point.

So, here is an informal idea, either sometime this fall, or maybe just go ahead and pre-plan for RCon 2008, if I were to build a masive table, that we could get like 3-4 players, each taking like 10-15K, or several more players and each with 6-10K...

We would just have to go ahead and plan on a full day to play it, meaning if we scheduled with RCon, then we would say either the Wednesday before or the Monday after...

Thoughts...?

FreeFall and I have talked about doing RCon next year, so that might work. We ran a game a few years ago with 12k per side, it was fun, but took forever b/c we allowed new players to come and go, which really slowed things down. I've always wanted to give it another go with a more experienced group.

I honestly can't beleive that it worked out so well. I literally just took any mini I got over a two year time or so and painted them this color scheme. They weren't ever really meant to play together, I just wanted to be able to pretty much build anything I wanted to and have the colors match.

I suppose that the flexibility of the new Section sizes really helped this a bit. This probably would have been a lot harder to fit into the old 4 model sections. I was really happy that I could use all of the Faction models I had without resorting to using OEM versions.

With CAV 2's faction lines defined a little bit more now, I'm going to have to go through the rest of my models and determine how I'm going to proceed in the future. I've got 60 more minis painted up in a variety of paint jobs, some I'd like to continue, some I wouldn't. Of course the one color scheme that I like the most has 17 models painted up, but 5 of them are Faction only and from 3 different factions. I certainly don't need another merc unit, so I guess I'll just have to set a few of those models aside and pick a faction for them.

Then I've got another 100 unpainted models that are going to be the basis for my Ritterlich army (lots of tanks :D) and my other demo force(s).

If you guys do Rcon next year, I might be all out of excuses for not going...

I did up the Spartans roster last night and no, I don't feel like typing it but it's legal. Using my non-terran CAV's and aircraft and tanks it comes out at 12,907 points with no infantry or upgrades so I could probablt play a 15k game with a little more book work. It uses the Spoils of War doctrine and works out to seven armor sections, one fire support section, two mech infantry sections and two flights of gunships. Somehow I still have some Kharls and Ghasts. Being able to make one of my armor sections six CAV's ( two Scorpions and four Spiders) sure made organizing it easier.

Now I really need to sit down and get my Terrans organized. I've got about twice as many of them as I do everything else.

well it isn't all painted the same, or painted at all, but I can muster a wholly Koda Works Force of 9 primary platoons and 5 secondary. I could lend them out for a huge rotating game at Rcon08. They could all be painted the same by then.

I realy should check mine, its more than likely a merc unit though, not enough faction models to make a good faction specific force I dont think.

That would have to be a fire support section, wouldn't it?
