Not a bad list you have at all.

There are several differernt ways you could take this if you wanted to change it, here was my take on a list:

Troop1 (8, 255)

Nicole of the Blade

4x Blade Sisters

3x Merc Spears

Troop2 (6, 243)

Marda of the Blade

5x Blade Sisters

Troop3 (6, 502)

COH Crusader Sister Majeda - holy symbol (2x bless)

Olivia - holy symbol (3x bless, cure2)

4x Bow Sisters

-----------------------------------

3 troops

20 models

1000 pnts

The idea is bless spells stack, so use bth Majeda and Olivia to bless the archers, and let them use their marksman to get 8 RAV 7 shots the first turn, 8 RAV 9 shots the second turn, 8 RAV 8 shots the third turn, and 8 RAV 6 shots the fourth turn.

Meanwhile the blade sisters either sit and protect the archers if possible, or if it is a scenario game, they run across the field trying to accomplish the goal.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can proxy. So if you wanted you could, from a datacard point of view, be fielding a handfull of Okuran Ronin, but from a mini point of view they all are women minis running around. As long as your opponent and/or game runner agrees to it.

It is pretty hard to argue against just about any decently diverse build. The changes made in the RC2007 document saw to it that pretty much everything is viable. That being said, situation and circumstance may dictate that certain builds are more or less successful than others. So, keep that in mind for your Change of Heart FA, and use it to address a particular need when you know the what you might be facing. I frequently use the Change of Heart to grab up fast-moving cavalry models from another faction when I need some speed in a Merc list. This works for flyers or burrowers too, of course.

Okay... I took some more time checking this list out. I like your idea stubbdog... but I think I might like more activations... i.e. more troops. Ummm, I'm still toying with ideas... here's another one I had:

Troop 1 - 319pts

Nicole - captain

Olivia w/ 2 Bless and 2 Cure2 - cleric/spells

3 Bladesister - grunts

3 MercSpears - grunts (I'm going to proxy the overlord spear minis or my spartans because the merc guys look dumb, imo)

Troop 2 - 308pts

Kassandra - sergeant

Eredain w/ 1 Fireball and 1 Lightning Bolt - mage/spells

3 Shadowsisters - adept

Troop 3 - 265pts

Marda - sergeant

3 Bowsister - adept

Standard Bearer - troop upgrade

Troop 4 - 54pts

Kyla - solo

Troop 5 - 54pts

Nalada - solo

5 Troops

20 Models

1000 Points

I think this is legal... the solos don't fall under the command hierarchy do they? Anyways... five troops = more activations. These are just musings. I'm trying to decide which models to spend Christmas money on...

That's a decent 1000 point list.

Expensive spells on Eredain is a waste of points, though. He's decent enough with counterspells (backed up by Merc re-rolls) if you need magic defense. But at 1000 points, you can probably get by without any defensive magic. And at CP5, his offensive potential is weak. Those points could be better spent on other things.

Since you haven't invoked your "change of heart" yet, you might consider swapping out Olivia for some Crusader Hospitalers. Hospitalers are the most cost efficient healers in the game. And since you're playing good-aligned mercs, they even fit your theme. You could aslo proxy in some female cleric models for them, if you wanted to maintain the Sisters theme.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was having a hard time deciding what to do with spells, since I'm not really sure what works and what doesn't in live play. I'll definitely take that to heart. Also, the suggestion for use of the FA is great. I've had a lot of problems deciding on a particular data card to use it on. The hospitaliers would definitely fit in with what I'm going for, and like you said... any female cleric would work with the open proxy rules.

I just finished building a new list based on a game 1501 points. My friend and I finally did get to sit down and play and we've decided we want to try running a larger game. I'm focusing on diversity... Here's what I've got... please let me know where I'm weak and what I can change to fortify. I'll be playing against my friend's Razig army so I'll have to deal with the whole undead thing...

Troop 1 (9 minis, 522pts)

Samantha of the Blade - WL

Olivia w/ 2 Bless, 1 Cure1, 1 Divine Vigor

Siellendria w/ 1 Bolt, 1 Ice Shards, 1 Shockwave

3 Bladesisters

3 Templar Ironspines (using COH FA)

Troop Musician and Standard

Troop 2 (6 minis, 445pts)

Callindra Silverspell

5 Bowsisters

Troop 3 (5 minis, 274pts)

Kassandra of the Blade

4 Shadow Sisters

Troop 4 (5 minis, 203pts)

Marda of the Blade

4 Bladesisters

Troop 5 (1 mini, 54 pts)

Kyla, Bounty Huntress

Total: 1499pts, 25 minis, 6 activations (w/ Tactician SA)

Thanks for any input folks!

Merc spearmen are one of the strong points of the merc troops. I think you should consider using the Ironspines as proxies for merc spearmen, if you like the models, and use COH for something else. Mercs have all kinds of basic foot soldiers. COH is best used for something else.

Counterspells backed up by merc's Scoundrel's Luck are another strong point. I recommend that you pick up at least one counterspell.

Troop 2 (6 minis, 445pts)

Callindra Silverspell

5 Bowsisters

Merc crossbowmen are another strong point of the list. I recommend that you use the bowsister models to proxy merc crossbowmen. With the points you save, get some decent defensive troops to use as a screen for the shooters. When you activate the troop, move the defenders open line of sight, shoot, and then move to re-close the screen.

Really?! I see 2 damage tracks and 1 MA on the spears and only 3 RAV on the crossbows... unless you are putting the value in the First Strike and Reach on the spears and the Critical Shot/2 from the crossbows....?

Hmmm... I'm not sure what I think about that... You've sparked some good thoughts, though. I'll have to go back to my lists and see what I come up with. I'd be interested to hear more StV.

Crit shot for a total RAV 5 fo under 30 points is nothing to sneeze at. Against the right enemy, it can be very affective. But, it can only be affective if they can sit still to use it. Hence V's suggestion of getting some road blockers for them.

And yes, the reach and first strike can make the merc spears affective too. Again, when you can get up to +3 in support and another +3 in reach bonuses. but, you can only get that high if you have the number of models necessary to get you those kind of numbers, and the merc spearmen are cheap enough to be able to do that. Do they survive long? Probably not, but they can be used in several different ways. As a swarm as just mentioned to try and tae out a big target, as gnats to get in the way of an enemy to keep it from going where they want in a scenario, as cheap reach support (15 points for lesser magic weapon or 19 points for a whole nother model on the field with reach and first strike) for whatever other melee models you have in your force.

Spearmen: Reach support, first strike, and decent MAV at low point cost. Yes, they're scrubs, but they're cost-effective scrubs. You probably don't want them to be the ones to receive the initial charge from high-DV models with lots of attacks, but they're golden in any other situation. Besides, mobile, low-cost models give you the opportunity to grab objective points on the game board easily.

Crossbowmen: Rav 5 when they crit shot, 2 damage per crit shot hit, and range 24, for 27 points. They're arguably the most cost-effective shooters in the game. Anything with DV 12 or less fears them, and even stuff with DV 14 should have healthy respect for them.

actually anything should have a healthy respect for them. A natural 10 gets you two wounds and they're cheap enough to be brought in quantity. Anything with DV greater than 14 is likely expensive enough to make the gamble worth it if no other juicy targets are around.

Hey Guys I too play a sisters of the blade list. and seeing as people were discussing the Change of Heart i thought i'd throw in my thoughts.

Depending on who and what i'm playing i use change of heart on one of the following.

Guardian angel (this doesn't really need explaining)

Daughters of the whip (running 4 of these with Sam and some shadow sisters oh yeah)

Finarhi (the female justicar form crusaders)

I'm still planing to try a few others but so far these all work great (especialy the DoW)

Sorry to put a downer on your musings but Daughters of the Whip are EVIL . You can not mix good and evil even if you use COH and the Sisters are good . :poke:
