Chronoscope Models We'd Like to See

Recommended Posts

I've always wanted to make a little Sumo Wrestling ring, but no one makes the wrestlers. I think there is one or two out there but they don't match. Hasslefree makes a pretty nice one, but others like from Amazon are horrid little things.

I helped a guy paint a few for a sumo game he had, and you are right... I didn't find them very pleasing - but I suppose with the right paint job they could be OK. I don't think they were the Amazon ones, however. In fact, they definately were another company.

For those who are curious - <a href="http://www.sumo-basho.com/index3.asp" target="_blank">http://www.sumo-basho.com/index3.asp</a>

Could you imagine Reaper doing a few Sumo type figures though? Wow. :) They'd be stunning :)

Kung Fu Theater - Guys like the blind masters from Kung Fu, and MadTV, the Master of the Flying Guillotine, one armed boxer, the guys from Mortal Combat

YES!

YES YES YES!

Especially the Master of the Flying Guillotine. I'd love to see figures based on WuXia and "Chop Socky" cinema :)

Sumo Basho is Amazon miniatures or they are its distributers, they are horrible.

Maybe if a couple in wrestling poses or a varient one sold they could do others in more traditional poses like Salt Throwing, Ring Stomping, Pre-fight salutes and wearing the 'Kesyo Mawashi'/ceremonial aprons. The 'Kesyo Mawashi' one might even be popular with painters, since the aprons are so ornate and colorful.

Heres a cool link with lots of pose ideas, and one to a nice 'Kesyo Mawashi' picture.

Yeah, the Master of the Flying Guillotine is my favorite Kung Fu theater character. Such a really cool weapon, unlike anything else.

The moose was by Jason Wiebe. I still have mine.. Yes, I still need to finish prepping it so I can prime and paint it.

A moose would be cool. I just bought some deer and foxes from Iron Wind's Ral Partha line.

I would most like to see figures that would fit the Traveller genre. Aslan (cat people), Vargr (Dog people), Humans, Droyne (Insect like), all in and out of spacesuits. Unfortunately I doubt Hivers would have a large enough market, most of the others I can see being used in other games besides Traveller. Hivers have six legs (one being the head with eyes and mouth). K'kree are similar to Centaurs but don't have a human head, again probably not a large enough market there. Hmmm I could probably use some green stuff and make a few conversions from centaurs for K'kree......dang it now I have to buy more mini's.

Hi. I don't usually post on sites like this, but an opportunity to make a "few" suggestions for Reaper minis is too good to pass up. I've been using Dark Heaven minis (both stock and with minor conversions) to fill out some roles in my friendly WH40K games for years. The Chronoscope line promises to make substitutions even easier... It's a great idea!

So here are some character ideas:

John Carter, Warlord of Mars

Tars Tarkas, Green Martian Chieftain

Green Martian warrior

Dejah Thoris, Red Martian princess

(You could comb through all the ERB Barsoom books and do a whole line right there.)

Tarzan

Jane

Solomon Kane, Puritan adventurer

Captain Nemo

Nautilus crewman

Nautilus aquanaut

Dr. Moreau

Dr. Moreau's animal/man hybrids

Tin Man

Cowardly Lion

Scarecrow

Dorothy Gale and Toto

Wicked Witch of the West

Flying Monkeys

Cthulhu Priest

Cthulhu Cultist

Cthulhu statue

X-Large Cthulhu (I really love the Eldritch Demon in the Dark Heaven line, but it ought to be larger...)

Deep One

Innsmouth residents

Night Gaunts

Nyarlathotep

Mi-Go

James Bond/Tuxedo Spy

"Bond" girls

Casino workers, like

Vegas showgirls

Cigarette Girls

Bunny Waitresses

Doormen

Bouncers

Flash Gordon

Dale Arden

Dr. Zarkov

Ming the Merciless

Mongo Soldiers

The Shadow (interchangeable hands, one set w/.45 pistols, one set with uzi pistols)

Generic caped superhero, flying

Jungle Explorers

Jungle Shaman

Jungle natives (this would have to be done tastefully, of course...)

Bush Pilots

Safari Hunters

Alan Quartermain

Desert Explorers

"The Rat Patrol"

Bedouin nomads on camels and horses

Voodoo Priest

Voodoo Priestess

Modern Voodoo Zombies

Grey Aliens

Reptoid Aliens

Modern US Marines

WWII US Marines

Navy SEALs (commandos in scuba gear)

Black Ops commandos

SWAT

WWI Highlander Regiment. (This would be even better if you fitted them out with interchangeable rifles, incase I decide to substitute in rayguns.)

Exorcist Priest

I'm really keen on the idea of various martial artists:

Ninja

Modern Ninja (Think SnakeEyes, StormShadow, and Scarlet from GI Joe)

Judo throw (Two figures, one being thrown)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Two Figures, one being submitted)

Karate Kick

"Chuck Norris" Roundhouse kick (assuming a mere mini can capture such awesomeness...)

Boxer

Fencer

Kendo

Escrima stick fighter

Muay Thai Kickboxer

Shaolin Monks

And how about some "artifacts" for the minis to quest for and fight over:

Ark of the Covenant

A sword in a stone

Holy Grail

Crystal skull on pedastal

That ugly, little gold idol

Egyptian sarcophagus

Sorry. I know it's way too much. I'm sure the ideas are endless, but I'll just stop here...

I was enjoying the latest version (Spielberg/Cruise) of War of the Worlds for the umpteenth time last week, when it occured to me that it would be spectacular to get a mini in the way of those sorts of really alien-looking aliens. You know, with the three legs, the sucker fingertips, the big crested heads with the huge round eyes.

That would rule. Aliens (from Alien) we have, Predator types can be obtained from multiple sources. The world of minis is teeming with blues and greys. Extraplanar, insects, yadda, yadda, yadda. But nobody makes a really good creepy space alien like these.

Give us something really alien.

Off the top of my head.

Tecno Demons

Part Demon. Patr Cyborg

Demons in modern dress

Because a devil in a tux is cool.

Tenticaled Monsters

For the Cthulhu lover in all of us.

Tarradactle People

Think Ravagons from TORG.

Aceint Egyptians with Machine Guns

Yes, I'm serious. TORG was a very weird game.

Super Heros and villians

Duh.

Magical Girls

Anime style for those Big Eyes, Small Mouth games

Combat Androids

Anime Style.

Modern Zombies

All Flesh Must Be Eaten!

Dinosaur People with Spears

Again, TORG. They could also fit in most fantasy games

Chronoscope opens tones of possibilities.

Some of the figures I use for modern day settings are from Coplestone Castings who took on some of the ranges from Grenadier, when they went belly up.

http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=FW

The casting is not as detailed by comparison with the beloved reaper range, but still pretty good at that.

Future Wars and High Adventure.

http://www.mirliton.it/index.php?cName=future-warrior-28-mm

These also have the licence to do Future Wars. Got some nice little bikes.

With the Reaper style of sculpting applied to similar ideas, you'ld have a great line for a rogue element in CAV as well as a modern day setting.

This does not mean to say that the above mentioned figures should be "copied" and therefore break copyright.

Eureka has a whole line of Winged Flying Monkeys.

Most of the Martian figs are available, but having some actual character ones from Reaper would rock.

Cthulu-esque, check.
