The top of this thread has mostly dead links, there are some good ones deeper in, but it's a matter of wading through dead stuff.

Maybe this thread could be re-started? (either as a part 2, or the original could be archived). Just a thought, I'm new and trying to find good tutorials on basic painting, painting tricks etc

Not sure this is listed in this thread and it ought to be:

Dr. Faust's Painting Clinic

Dr. Faust's Painting Clinic (YouTube)

The Painting Clinic playlist Miniature Painting Basics is a good place to start if you like watching videos.

I'm not sure how people feel about membership sites, but miniwargaming.com has a tremendous amount of video tutorials and streaming DVDs that have really helped me up my painting skills.  They run membership offers every once in awhile.  When I got in it was 71.90 CAD a year.  It's normally 19.95 a month, so it's worth waiting for a promotion.  At present there are 1650 videos exclusive to the member's vault.  There's also a lot of free sample videos on the site that can help out as well.  Membership also means you get digital downloads of any DVD they make.  Which has proven handy for loading my iPad before taking trips.

Again, not sure how the membership thing will be received.  I'm not affiliated with them in any way.  I just like the service.  Feel free to prune this if it's perceived as advertising.

Here's a link to my wife's wrinkles tutorial. It's designed for illustration, but I feel painters can benefit from the concepts therein.

Be a gentleman. It is charming and infuriating, respectively, to exactly the people you want it to be.

My brain is not sick, my brain just is. And sometimes I need a little help to function in a society not designed for my cognition.

...didn't they go out of business? I remember getting a buttload of paint from them...
Happiness is just a word to me
And it might have meant a thing or two
If I'd known the difference
Emptiness, a lonely parody
And my life, another smokin' gun
A sign of my indifference...

-Seatbelts, "Gotta Knock A Little Harder"

I pretty much agree with everything that Last Knight said.

Their STORE went out of business.  They now provide video content for paid members.
